The NSIT Quiz Fest is back!
The NSIT Quiz Club presents the ninth edition of its annual quizzing festival from 15th-18th March.

The Rules are as follows:

Teams of 2 for all quizzes during the fest.
Cross-college teams are allowed for all the quizzes. Lone wolves are welcome too.
The two quizzes on 18th are open, i.e. anyone can participate.

X is a family-based British sitcom produced by the BBC, now in its fifth series. It is set in Sparkhill, East Birmingham.

The protagonist had already featured in the BBC Two comedy series Bellamy's People, on BBC Radio 4's Down the Line as well as in BBC Comedy Website.

The title of the show is a play on the title of a classic American movie Y directed by Z. Y topped the AFI's list of 100 Greatest American Films of all time.

The Women's 400m event at the 2016 Rio Olympics produced one of the most exciting races of the season.

Shaunae Miller of Bahamas who was the world leading runner for 2016 & Allyson Felix, the 2015 World Champion were the favourites for the race. It was a neck to neck competition with Miller leading Felix by 2 metres off the final turn. At that point, Felix accelerated and Miller seemed to have run out of gas. Felix was looking good for the Gold Medal, which would have been her 7th of all time.
However, what controversial moment happened towards the end that resulted in Miller being the Olympic Champion?

In 2013 he settled on the title Y, but was forced to rename it to X again by the release of another movie which had the same title Y.

'X' dropped out of a Visual Arts College to take a job as an animator at Hanna Barbera. This Canadian writer, director, producer and animator is well known for creating the Cartoon Network comedy series 'Y'. With Hanna-Barbera, 'X' worked on a number of series, including The Flintstones, Scooby Doo and scrappy doo, The smurfs, and Richie Rich.
'Y' remains one of Cartoon Network's most successful series to date. It revolves around three preteen boys: Y, collectively known as ___, who live in a suburban cul-de-sac in the fictional town of Peach Creek.

The Mahabharata mentions that only four people listened to the Bhagvat Gita directly from Krishna. Arjuna was the one it was adressed to, Sanjaya listened to it because of his divine vision, and Ved Vyasa, who was experiencing the past, present and the future at the same time. Dhritarashtra heard it indirectly from Sanjaya.

Nice Kicks is a sneaker specific blog, now owned by Complex Magazine. The blog currently has 82k subsribers but 2.1M instagram followers.

According to the owner,Matt Haffill, the blog was made specifically for shoe lovers like himself and provides updates on the latest sneakers being launched by top brands. The blog also tracks the sneakers being worn by celebrities and NBA players.

According to Sports Illustrated, the trend X can be traced back to this blog. In 2006, this blog began a practice of posting photos of old basketball footwear, titling the series X.

In 2011, the trend picked up and is now common on social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

A brilliant quiz, coupled with an amazing experience inspired us to revive the Shadys, a beloved (?) tradition.

Since this was this season's first everyone-can-participate quiz, it will receive all our adulation and love.

To start off, when a Quiz Master says - 'I'm a professional Quiz Master.', do not believe him. Rather, prepare yourself for a *meh* experience. With absurd school-like rules (No pounce!) and the painful, forced shrouds of mystery after answering a question, the quiz took the participant back in time, reminiscing about school quizzes.

The quiz, like all quizzes started a solid hour after its advertised time of commencement. Not that we're complaining. We were quite thankful for the buffer.

During the finals, in an almost Pornob-esque question twist, the QM asked 'What is Donald Trump's middle name?' after showing a video of Jimmy Fallon imitating Trump. Oh, the spontaneity!

A major noteworthy event was triggered by a video question showing an Epic Rap Battle between Steven Spielberg and Alfred Hitchcock (video here). A team buzzed while the video was playing and said 'This is the Epic Rap Battle between Steven Spielberg and Alfred Hitchcock'. The QM said that he was going to ask 'Which British director was deemed to fat to join the army?'. Obviously, the team who buzzed were given a negative (Totally justified.).
Now, when the team was asking for the points they deserved, a random person in the audience very succinctly pointed out 'You cannot quote the Mahabharata if the answer is Yudhishtir'. To this, one of the team members responded - 'You can answer and argue when you qualify for a quiz.' *Drops mic*
Randomness ensued.

Anyway,
Being the first quiz of the semester, this was a good opening (considering we came in second and got some money, and the Epic Rap Battle IRL). However, we do hope that the questions are better next year (There was a question where they showed us an image of Larry Page and Sergey Brin and asked what they have done. I'm not kidding).

His real name is Glen Jacobs. He earned a degree in English Literature at Northeast Missouri State University, where he played both basketball and football. Most fans are aware that he is very outspoken in terms of politics and is even a member of the Free State Project. He hosted a podcast titled The Tiny Political Show under the pseudonym Citizen X (from March 16, 2007 to March 13, 2008) and ran a blog called The Adventures of Citizen X at AdventuresOfCitizenX.com and is also a contributor to LewRockwell.com.
If all that wasn’t surprising enough, he even owns an insurance company with his wife called The Jacobs Agency, which is located in Tennesse.

Railway to Hell

The Thai–Burma railway was built in 1942–43 to supply the Japanese forces in Burma, bypassing the sea routes which had become vulnerable when Japanese naval strength was reduced in the Battles of the Coral Sea and Midway in May and June 1942. Aiming to finish the railway as quickly as possible the Japanese decided to use the more than 60 000 Allied POWs who had fallen into their hands in early 1942. A particular stretch called the Konyu Cutting was the deepest and the most dramatic of the many cuttings and clearings to make way for the railway lines. Groups of men worked around the clock for 16-18 hours to complete excavation of the 17 metre deep and 110-m long cutting through solid limestone and quartz rock. Sixty nine men were beaten to death by Japanese guards in the six weeks it took to build the cutting, and many more died from cholera, dysentery, starvation, and exhaustion. Forced to work at night, Konyu Cutting was nicknamed X because of the mixture of hammering noise, lighting from fires, oil fired bamboo torches and carbide lamps that created an eerie illumination that looked like the fires of hell.

The New Moore Island in the Sunderban delta was the center of a land dispute between India and Bangladesh. Discovered in 1974 by an American satellite, the island grew substantially in size owing to silt deposits by flooding rivers. Both the nations claimed the territory and no solution was found until in 2010, when because of a specific natural cause the dispute ended in a rather dramatic way as none of the nations could claim it. Though he loved cigar, he used to smoke only half of each cigar but kept the butts. No matter where we went - anywhere in the world - his staff had to collect all the butts and put them in a special box. That box was brought back and the butts were handed to one of the gardeners, who used to smoke them in his pipe.
He prepared for difficult negotiations by sticking a hatpin into a cigar, then later lighting and smoking the cigar until the attention of the entire audience was on the impossibly long ash (wondering when it would fall off) and not on any of the points his opponent was trying to make.Yeah, he was smart !!

The X is a highly modified version of the Lotus Exige, manufactured by Texas-based Y and assembled in England. It holds the unofficial record for being the fastest accelerating, and the fastest production car in the world, having accelerated from 0 to 300kmph in 13.63 seconds and having reached a top speed of 435.31kmph. Y claims that X can reach a potential top speed of 447kmph, although this has never been tested. However, as the top-speed run was only in one direction, and only 16 Xs have been manufactured to date (Y needs to manufacture 30 to qualify), the car does not qualify as the fastest production car in the Guinness World Records (a record still held by the Bugatti Veyron SuperSport).
