Here is what Jennifer siad about the party- "My sister and I recently styled a surprise 60th football tailgating themed birthday party for our father on the eve of the big college rivalry football game. Dozens of family & guests flew/traveled into town to be in attendance. Close to a dozen wonderful vendors contributed towards this event.

Details:

'Tis the season for tailgating. How do you honor a football fanatic on the occasion of his 60th birthday? By surprising him with the biggest football themed tailgate party of his life, complete with gridiron goodies from some of the most talented dessert artists around. Of course some of the best graphic designers were also recruited to design the invitation, party printables and coordinating banner. Fabulous vendors were called upon for packaging, party favor and display needs.

We kicked off our event with a custom invitation designed by Anders Ruff Custom Designs. They scored big with their incredible design work, which set the stage for a crowd pleasing surprise event. The honoree's college alma mater is Brigham Young University (BYU)--home of the Cougars. Anders Ruff Custom Designs was sure to capture the team colors and college logo perfectly!

Guests arrived to our event on the afternoon of the biggest BYU rivalry game of the year! That evening, the BYU Cougars would host their cross-city rivals, the Utah Utes. Our honoree's immediate family all had custom designed matching navy and white team shirts with Cougars on the front and PRICE and 60 on the back (the last name and age of our guest of honor).

Guests 'signed in' on mini printable footballs (courtesy of Shindig Parties to Go) where they were able to write their name and a little birthday message on the back. They could then tack up their birthday wishes on our football field banner, created by Ryan Murray of The RPM Studio.

Guests sat down to tables outfitted to look like a piece of the football field itself. Astro turf was cut to fit round tables. White ribbon and die cut numbers were glued on to look like yard lines and markers. Centerpieces were made from coordinating college logo balloons, gift bags, pom poms, footballs and coordinating candy. Each place setting was designed using eye-catching printable designs from Shindig Parties to Go. Notice the custom "60" water bottle wraps, napkin rings and coordinating pennant straw flags.

A delicious lunch was served buffet style with menu items like:

Fun faux football leather food labels added some fun tailgating appeal to the buffet table. Adorable football boxes from Nashville Wraps helped house chips on the buffet table and fun party favors on the kids' table.

The highlight of the event was definitely the dessert table. Also, decorated to look like a football field, with astro turf used as the table covering, the dessert table was the focal point of the party design. Striped pennant flags were hung using denim twine from The Twinery. PVC pipe was cut, assembled and painted to look like field goal posts and held letters which spelled out the honoree's name: DALE. (Thank you to Shindig Parties to Go for inspiring the field goal design!) Bleachers were fashioned out of foam core board to house delicious 'quarterback' cupcakes (Cupcake Chic) with custom fondant toppers by Two Sugar Babies. JP Creatibles outdid herself with the most stunning football cookies I have ever laid eyes on! Footballs, custom BYU jersey and BYU logo cookies with the most detailed design work I have ever seen, were the talk of the party! Many other 'gridiron goodies' also played starting roles on our dessert table. 'Corne rback' cookies were iced and topped with gorgeous fondant cookie toppers crafted by Edible Details. Strawberries were dipped in chocolate and decorated to look like their pigskin counterparts. Beautifully hand dipped and decorated 'play action' pretzel rods were prepared by Pretzels Pleaze. Notice the cute sugar footballs adorning the pretzels! No detail was spared! There where 'wideout whoopee pies', 'blocker brownies', 'touchdown treats' in apothecary jars, maple bar 'cougar paws', 'goal time' cake pops (lovingly created by Johanna Dellino of Pop.O.Licious Cake Pops), and more!

Not to be overshadowed by the other desserts, a delicious 3 layer cake was displayed on its own table, topped with an amazing fondant cake topper by Two Sugar Babies. Notice how the helmet design matches the design work on the invitation by Anders Ruff Custom Designs! I love it when professionals collaborate to make an event even more amazing!

A separate table housed take home party favor window bags and glassine bags from Nashville Wraps. I just love their eco-friendly packaging options! Each was adorned with coordinating ribbon and printable tags by Shindig Parties to Go. They were the perfect thing to allow our guests to take home all sorts of desserts!

Our event included a tribute slideshow and a presentation of autographed sports memorabilia from BYU's starting quarterback, Jake Heaps, as well as basketball standout, Jimmer Fredette, the 2011 NBA #10 draft pick."

Today's first party feature goes to this darling SILHOUETTE SISTER & BROTHER BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Barbara and Ana {from Madrid, Spain} of Mi cesta de mimbre. SUCH a darling party. I adore the silhouettes. What a cute take on the classic boy and girl colors of blue & pink! Barbara and Ana produce customized kits for any type of celberation. Their company is called "Sueños de Papel" {Paper Dreams}.

This was a bithday party for two little children, a sister & a brother. The theme was pink and blue crowned with the silouette of a boy and girl. Even the birthday cake, cookies and cupcakes were made to match the theme {made specially for the occasion by María from SUGARCAKES}.

To give the party a special touch, they set up a "wish tree" that offered a gift for everyone that made a wish for the birthday children {flower shaped keychains designed and produced by Canela Diseño}. Last, but not least, a fairy stayed with the children during the whole party and taught them how to fly.

Here is what paige submitted about the party- "When I started thinking about Quinne’s first birthday, I knew I wanted it to be fun, colorful and be a play on the fact that her first year “had flown by.” I have two girls 16 months apart so Quinne’s first year had been quite a roller coaster! I love the rainbow color palette but I wanted to incorporate hot pink since she is, after all, a girl! I had so much fun mixing the vintage hot air balloon with more modern chevron stripes and rustic burlap.

INVITATION

I think the invitation is so important and sets the stage for the event. I wanted to include a photo of Quinne but didn’t want it on the invite so I used a photo of her on the envelope liner, our friends loved it! See the tutorial here.

GREETING THE GUESTS

To greet the guests, my husband and his mom made a rainbow balloon arch using a tutorial found on Design Mom. Next, the kids got to pick a party hat with their favorite trim and sign Quinne’s hot air balloon book. Just like Charley’s monkey party, I had our guests sign a children’s book that matches the theme of the party and asked them to predict what Quinne will be when she grows up!" Party details continued below....

"DESSERT TABLE & TREATS

I decided to focus mostly on the dessert table. The colorful chandelier was the starting point and I knew it needed to be grounded with a burlap background. I made both of the exposed layer cakes over a few days before the party… talk about lots of food coloring! Quinne absolutely loved her cake, she even took a break from chowing down to give it a hug – so sweet! (And don’t worry, she didn’t eat the whole thing.) I topped the cake with a darling fondant hot air balloon from Modern Luxe Events.

The #1 favorite of our guests were the hot air balloon cake pops. Kris with kCreative Cake Pops exceeded my expectations with the detail on these cake pops. I couldn’t believe the gorgeous colors were and how much they really looked like hot air balloons! Another one of my favorite desserts on the table were the beautiful macaron towers by Baked. Nanci made my vision come to life with the colorful macarons and each color was a different flavor – yum! Nanci also made the gorgeous sugar cookies and red velvet cupcakes, were such a hit. I made the rainbow jello in mason jars (again, over the course of a few days) and used twine to tie colorful mini spoons on the jars.

FOOD

To take the stress of prepping & serving food during the party, I sent my husband out to pick up burgers and fries from In N Out Burger just before the party started. Our guests LOVED it and it was inexpensive and so easy! Of course, I have to label and repackage everything, so I bought striped candy bags from In the Clear to rewrap the burgers and made paper cones to display the fries in. I displayed the food and drinks on an old door I found on the street in my neighborhood (!) and added the concessions stand banner. I spent about $8 to make the rainbow fabric garland that hung behind the food. I love a custom label so I wrapped the water bottles in custom labels that I sell in my etsy shoppe.

TABLES

We set up kids-height tables for the kids to eat at and lined the tables with homemade hot air balloons. I spray painted strawberry baskets brown and used twine to tie a helium filled balloon to the basket.

ACTIVITIES

For activities, we hired a family friend who is a professional balloon twister (aka makes balloon animals) at Downtown Disney. The kids LOVED him and all waited in line for their turn. I also had a custom hot air balloon pinata made by Whack. Now it hangs in our playroom and looks so fun! One of my best friends painted the kids faces and we set up our little bounce house. I designed custom coloring pages for the kids. One of my favorite things at the party was the crayons I separated and placed into tomato paste cans with custom labels.

CLOTHES

I’ve always got to color coordinate our clothes for the party. I spotted this fabric and knew it was absolutely perfect for our party. I sewed each girl a dress (the morning of the party – crazy I know!) and had custom bloomers made for Quinne by BloominBloomers. And my brave husband sported a matching necktie while I pinned on a flower in the same fabric."

Ribbons And Bows 1st Birthday Party

My next feature goes to this adorable RIBBONS AND BOWS 1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Suzanne Olvey of Fanciful Events. What a charming party! LOVE the theme. I'm so surprised I've never seen it before, it's so perfect for a little girl! This party is full of inspiration and is definitely a must see. All the party elements had so much thought put into them. Simply gorgeous, Suzanne! I'm so glad that we are cyber friends. Thanks for your submission!

Here is what Suzanne said about the party- "We recently did my daughter’s 1st birthday! After changing my mind several times and settling on a theme, I finally decided to go with a “Ribbons and Bows” because it seemed like a really sweet theme and also because it incorporated something frilly, girly and fun, exactly what little girls are! The invitation and the theme became realized when my sweet friend Kori from Paper and Pigatils helped me design and come with a sweet and girly invitation. She used bows, tassles, and bunting to give it a taste of girly and sweet! The colors we chose were the soft pinks, soft turquoise and touches of yellow. A sweet color combination to say the least!

We did the party in the middle of the afternoon so we went with finger sandwiches, donuts, pop corn, and lots of sweet desserts of course! We placed the donuts, powdered donuts and the cupcakes, in pretty snack cups, berry baskets from Shop Sweet Lulu. We also had sweet cookies from The Cookie Jar that tied in beautifully with our theme. The adorable fondant toppers were made by Brittany from Editable Details...she also made the most adorable little duckie pull toy pulling a number 1 to decorate our table. We decided that donuts could use a little decor themselves so we dressed them and they looked absolutely adorable. We had assorted candy such as sixlets, rock candy and gumballs that were in our themed colors. Our gorgeous cake was made by Cupcake Couture. We decided to go with 2 two-tier ruffled cake to mimic the ruffles of little girls pettiskirts and dresses and decided to add a bow for that extra sweetness! It was just dreamy and so pretty! Our cupcakes and adorable little smash cake also came from Cupcake Couture. I saw a posting that Rosie from Sweetapolita, she made a sweet little cake for her daughter and I loved it so much that knew that was what I wanted my daughter to have as “her” smash cake. The dessert table looked so quaint, whimsical, sweet and girly!

For the decor we decided to add some vintage flair. I enlisted the help from the wonderful and sweet Carolyn from Sweet Tea and Linen, she made burlap runners with ribbons going down across the runners to give it that mix between the sweetness of the ribbons and the look of vintage. We had our candy displayed in varying apothecary jars and also we got this vintage yellow tray from Kara’s Party Ideas that displayed our eye catching blue rock candy. Of course how could we not have banners with a touch of glitter and sparkle? Kristy from The Purple Pug made the amazing banners with the right touch and amount and glitter. They added so much to our tables. We also got a vintage looking bunting banner from Starlit Nest that we used to hang our over the year gallery on. I found some adorable little mini suitcases that we displayed our bow shaped cookie favors from Polka Dot Market, they were looked so sweet on our tables and also held the utensils from Shop Sweet Lulu. We also bought our polka dot balloons & bunting banners from Polka Dot Market. The best little decor that we bought from Polka Dot Market were this sweet little pedestals that we used and placed cupcakes throughout our dessert table. We found this really cool antique looking candelabra that we displayed our cupcakes on and found this cool looking window at an antique store that we hung above the dessert tables with poms from Pom Flair. I found the lace umbrellas or parasols on Chasing Fireflies! I also had a dress form with an adorable top from Oh Fiddlesticks! Melissa designed the sweetest and cutest 1st birthday top. It had all the elements that tied into our theme. I decided to to use it as part of the decor because it was so cute and I didn’t want my daughter to ruin it. I made a rosette decorated initial to add to the decor as well as this ferris wheel that had some of the powdered donuts on each “swing” We really tried to make this as frilly, girly, sweet, and vintage as we possible could and I think we accomplished that!"

Princess And The Pea Party

I'm so excited to share today's feature with with you. My jaw dropped to my desk when I received this PRINCESS AND THE PEA BIRTHDAY PARTY submission from Beca K of My Paper Lily. Can you believe your eyes? What a darling party!! The layered beds with fun quilts and fabric...the cookies from dainty delights...the sleeping masks...the slippers...the cake...the pea pillows...I can't believe it all! The theme is just too perfect. So, so, so cute.

Here is what Beca said about the party- "My daughter Elaena is the youngest of three, so of course she is the baby - my little pea. I didn't want to give her just a party based on sweet peas alone. When I recalled the story "The Princess and the Pea" I thought it was perfect! I am a mom on a major budget, so the photography, every crafted detail and edible item I made/did myself ....except those gorgeous cookies! It was actually quite easy to sew the pillows and sleep masks, hopefully I can get a tutorial up soon! The mattresses are actually toddler mattresses! I went through 2 1/2 weeks of searching for them on craigslist. The girls got to draw (fabric markers) on their own pea pillow. You can get all the printable items here in my shop: my Paper lily."

Paper Doll 5th Birthday Party

Today's feature goes to this darling PAPER DOLL BIRTHDAY PARTY submitted by Linda Vandermeer

of Bubble and Sweet. What an adorable party theme, don't you think?! The children played paper dolls with COOKIES, dressing them with fondant clothing!! Oh. My. Goodness. It doesn't get much cuter than this. Such a lovely party.

Here is what Linda said about the party- "For my daughter's 5th birthday party we had a Paper Doll theme. It was inspired by a picture of my daughter by Naomi V Photography for Princess Ratbag modeling a pettiskirt. The stylist pinned up her long hair and she looked like a little vintage doll.

I made cookies to look like my daughter and fondant clothes that the kids REALLY dressed up using royal icing to adhere the edible fondant clothes to the sugar cookie doll. I have already posted this activity from the party on my site here.

I also used the paper doll clothes to make a DIY bunting garland to top the buttercream pink ombre cake. Inside the cake was strawberry with white chocolate mud cake polka dots. A tutorial on how I made the ombre cake is available on my blog here.

We also had princess sprinkle macarons and polka dot milk. I tried to come up with fun names for the party treats to work in with the theme.

Instead of wrapping up layers of paper for pass the parcel, I popped a gifts into brown paper bags. I wrote a task for each child to perform onto the front of the bag. When the music stopped the child reached into the basket pulled out a bag and had to perform the task to get the gift, they were age appropriate tasks like singing a song or doing the hokey pokey, the kids thought it was lots of fun."

Breakfast Meet & Eat Baby Shower

This weekends party feature goes to this super clever BREAKFAST MEET & EAT BABY SHOWER submitted by Nicole Gould of Million Dollar Smile Celebrations! Love it! Instead of a "Sip & See" Nicole planned a wonderful alternative. I love all the doughnuts, cereal & "morning newspapers". Look at the felt doughnuts on the door wreath! Everything is just so cute.

Here is what Nicole said about the party- "We’ve all heard of the Sip & See… Now introducing the Meet & Eat! Baby Grace, born on August 8th, is a tasty little one with a mommy, auntie, and grandma who love all things breakfast. Hosting a breakfast-themed party was just as delicious and fun to plan as it was to host. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day…

Inspiration - Bright Colors! Cheery Flowers! Felt! Sunday Morning Comics (My grandpa used to call the comic section in the Sunday paper the “Funnies”)! I wanted party guests to feel like they were walking into a donut shop from their favorite comic strip. Incorporating yarn, felt, and comics set a whimsical world for breakfast time....

Invites – Guests received mini cereal boxes that included a clear sealed bag with an adorable slide-open invite and a funky and fun fashion ring (every cereal box needs a prize, right?)! The invite featured a real Fruit Loop acting as the “O” in the saying “Oh, isn’t she sweet?”. The bag was sneakily placed and resealed into the cereal box. A custom sticker displayed on the front of the cereal box said, “Look: Prize Inside”. Edible and interactive… guest RSVP’d eagerly to see (and taste) more!!!!

Food – Guests filled their plates and bowls with a variety of breakfast treats and eats. A donut shop, including a K-Cup ‘U Brew’ station displayed the brightest and yummiest Dunkin Donut specialties (Yes, they do custom orders). A cereal buffet indulged guests in their favorite childhood cereal and included several flavors of milk and crazy toppings like sprinkles, sugar, chocolate chips, and marshmallow confetti. N’Counter, Grace’s mommy’s favorite breakfast spot, provided the most delicious bran and blueberry muffins. A whopping 12 inch, fresh-baked donut displayed Grace’s banner, hand-glittered by The Purple Pug, and set the centerpiece for the display. For the health conscious, fresh fruit and healthy breakfast bars filled up glass bowls on shelves.

Drinks – Mommy’s allowed to have a mimosa so why not make it one to remember. Jell-O cubes were placed in flutes for a bright and fun twist on the classic cocktail served in flutes with beaded stems. Add juice and bubbly, then sip & see. A couple of guests were baking little buns of their own so a “Milk Mixin’ Station” allowed guests to drop a Got Milk? flavor straw into a refreshing cup of the Moo-Juice. Speaking of juice, guests could choose from “Fresh Squeezed” mini carafe bottles or “You Squeeze” orange sippers. Insert, squeeze, and sip (a Purple Pug inspiration)!

Décor – With the help of a few strong men, a few rolls of wrapping paper, and some rented tables and linens, my living room and home office transformed into a fanciful and fantastic breakfast hot-spot. Then, Dez from Papercandee, did the rest. She created the most enchanting printable collection perfect for the party. From the tiniest donut flags to the donut-shaped banners; it all incorporated the colors, theme, and the most adorable little sunshine. I set the tables with mini centerpieces (tiny cereal boxes, small fabric flower blooms, and felt donuts) and arranged transparent Louis Ghost acrylic chairs around the tables to off-set the rather bright décor around the room. Paper pinwheels, empty cereal boxes, comics, felt garland, fruit loops on yarn and paper poms set the backdrops and hanging décor. My favorite details were the donut-shape balloons and ‘almost good enough to eat’ flower arrangements. I placed six gerber daisies in empty Dunkin Donut boxes to look like tasty treats. I stacked a few closed boxes, and then left the one with the flowers open for a sneak peek of the flowers inside.

Favors – Cereal flavored lip glosses that I found at Target were placed into hand glittered boxes (Purple Pug). Guests also filled ‘to go’ boxes for the kiddos at home taking cereal box prizes, donut holes, cereal bars, apples, you name it. But the oohhs and aahhs really came from the personalized spoons that were beaded for every guest by Grace’s grandma (thanks again Puple Pug for so many awesome ideas).”

And my next fabulous party feature goes to this darling VINTAGE DICK & JANE TWIN PARTY submitted by Mariah Leeson of Giggles Galore. Okay, I am dying here...how CUTE is this?! Oh, I just adore this party. The vintage toys, the banners, the cupcake toppers, the games, the hats, the food...ALL of it! Eeek!

Here is what Mariah said about the party- "My twin's turned 3 and I wanted to celebrate their sweet personalities with an old fashioned, vintage birthday party. I was inspired by my mom's vintage copy of the Dick and Jane early reader books and set out to create a party reminiscent of that time. I designed and created the party around vintage inspired fabric I found and made everything from the backdrop and party favors to my twin's outfits. I enlisted the help of my friend and designer at Sweet Sosbee Designs to help bring the invitation and other printable details to life. I used vintage toys and games to tie everything together. The kids had fun playing simple old fashioned games like bean bag toss, sack races, tag and a cake walk.

We served individual lunch boxes with simple PB&J sandwiches, potato chips in custom made wax bags and an orange. My mom made a gorgeous cake and there were lots of other sweet treats to enjoy.

This vintage old fashioned birthday was truly a labor of love and our twin's had a blast celebrating their special day!"

Vintage Grey & Yellow Bridal Shower

Today's party feature goes to this lovely VINTAGE GREY AND YELLOW BRIDAL SHOWER submitted by Linsey Herrera of Lux Events & Design. What a gorgeous celebration. I love everything about it. Look at the typewriter, vintage frames, hanging mason jars, rosette flowers, doilies, milk glass & more! Swoon.

Here is what Linsey said about the party- "The color scheme was yellow and grey with a heart theme! I collected lots of different mason jars, old frames, old fruit crates and milk glass to use for decor. I assembled the dessert bar with different cake domes and riser boxes. The cupcakes were displayed on top of a vintage seed box. The guests sipped on mimosas and dined on fresh baked quiche, strawberry salad and fresh fruit. The dessert bar was a hit! There was not one sweet left! To keep with the theme, Heros Baking Co. cut lemon bars into hearts and baked fresh giant sugar cookies in the shape of a heart. The sweet and Saucy shop did grey fondant heart cutouts for the top of the cupcakes. Each guest took home a small jar of homemade lemon curd."

Crab Boil Party

Pillow Thought. Such a great way to get a group of friends together. This looks so fun. Line a big table with newspaper, cook a lot of crab, melt some butter, add some seasoning and there you have it!

Here is what Lindsey said about the party- "We had a crab boil with our friends this weekend and it tasted amazinggg! Plus, it was super fun to get everyone together! It all started because Edgar Hansen off of Deadliest Catch was at a grocery store near by selling crab & Ty had to "plan" a group date for a class.. so an "end of summer party" seemed like the perfect thing to have. Plus, the weather ended up being so nice this past weekend! If you haven't ever done a crab boil... you should definitely put it on your list!! Everyone needs to indulge in this experience!"

From the pirate-themed food to the pirate face painting, tattoo parlor, loot-filled treaure hunt and toss the cannonball {water balloon} game, it was fantastic! Haunted Mansion Halloween Party

And my next party feature goes to this spooky HAUNTED MANSION HALLOWEEN PARTY submitted by Danielle Arcese of Cutie Putti Paperie. Danielle threw this party for a 10th birthday- Halloween style! I bet all the guests had a blast! I just love all the food with the appropriate halloween themed labels. So much detail went into this celebration!

Here is what Danielle said about the party- "I created a spooktackular Haunted Mansion printable party collection this year for Halloween, that is now available in my Etsy shop. I had a friend when I was growing up who had her birthday around Halloween, and she always had a halloween themed party. She hated it, but I thought it was amazing! What could be better them a costume party birthday, and even more fun to set the scene by transforming your home into the infamous Haunted Mansion!

I used gothic style text on an antiqued paper background for all of the paper goods. Spooky bats, skulls, and spiders adorn the items as well.

For the table I was able to find great items in my local Home Goods and Michael's craft stores to set the mood.
Food Items:
Tombstone Brownies- I found a super cute skeleton parts chocolate mold at Michaels. Bake and cut brownies into squares, chocolate frosted the tops and added brownie crumble to look like dirt. Lastly I bought white chocolate melts to make the skeletons and added them to the top.

Chocolate Coffins-
Again I found a chocolate coffin mold at Michaels, and used dark chocolate melts to make them. The molds are super easy to use. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler and pour into mold. After 15min in the fridge they are ready, and they pop out of the mold easily. I added a collection of white chocolate skeleton bones to each one, and lined them up in a rectangular vintage mirrored glass dish lined with crumbled brownies to look like dirt.
Bat Juice- Green Powerade with a little added green food coloring to darken the juice.
Wax Vampire fangs- were found at my local grocery store displayed on metal skeleton arms serving spoons (Homegoods)
Skeleton Fingers- This mold was also found at Michaels. The mold is specifically made for pretzel rods. Fill mold with white chocolate and insert pretzel rods before cooling in the fridge.

The cracked mirror pedestals I used for the cupcakes were candle holders found at Michaels.

I snagged a super cool scary hologram portrait at Home Goods. At one angle its a creepy old man face, and from another it transforms to a skeleton. Great for setting the mood, looks like it came right off the walls of a true haunted mansion.

For the final touches I created POISON chocolate bar wrappers, for goulish girls and boys to take home with them. The back reads "You survived the Haunted Mansion" with a warning that reads "May contain bat parts".

The thank you cards read "Thank you! Beware of hitchhiking ghosts that may have followed you home!!" One of my favorite tag lines from the original Haunted Mansion ride at Disney.

Here is what Malu said about the party- "We wanted This Halloween to have a "Witches O Ween" feel. Our main colors were purple, black, and yellow. We used my daughter's mannequin to dress her up as a witch as well as buying masquerade masks and adding witches hats to the back drop. We love witches and thought it would be a cute to have a Witches O Ween Shoot. All paper goods were designed by me, Malu Boutiques except for the cookies, which were designed by Dainty Delights.
