High School Outreach at Career Day for Girls
Date: Saturday, February 26th

We will be hosting girls from around the area on campus to give a presentation on engineering and global health, and work with the High school students to build the ESU testers that we have also been building on campus. This is a great opportunity to give back to the surrounding community and teach high school students about global health and engineering. Shadowing Trip to TrimedX
Date: Sunday, February 27th to Monday, February 28th
Location: TriMedX Warehouse in Indianapolis
Cost: FREE!!

We will be traveling to Indiana to work with professional engineers to repair medical equipment from our partner, Mission Outreach, during an intensive daylong repair session. This is a really exciting opportunity to gain expertise to bring back to campus repair sessions while networking with professional engineers. Description: EWH, SWE, GlobeMed, BMES, and ESW are hosting Kara Palamountain, a Research Assisstant Professor at the Kellogg School of Management, who is also the Executive Director of Kellogg's Global Health Initiative. In 2006, NU received a $4.9 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to research and develop affordable diagnostic devices for infectious diseases plaguing UN-defined "least developed countries". She will discuss her work relating to this grant. We are very excited about the opportunity. We will repair super cool medical equipment including Blood Pressure Monitors, Oxygen Monitors, Doppler-Ultrasounds, and medical diagnostic units. NO previous experience is required and this is a great opportunity for you to gain hands-on technical skills which will be extremely helpful in the future. You will have the chance to work with and learn from professors and graduate students!

We will be traveling to Indiana on the weekend of April 10th to work with professional engineers to repair medical equipment from our partner, Mission Outreach during an intensive daylong repair session. We will be traveling through the motor pool and staying at a hotel close to the TriMedX Foundation. This is a really exciting opportunity to gain expertise to bring back to campus repair sessions while networking with professional engineers. Event: High School Outreach Program
Date: March 1, 2010
Time: 2:40-5:30
Location: Maine East High School. We will be taking the pace bus there and back.

This is our first high school outreach event. We will be travelling to Maine East and building ESU (electrosurgical unit) testers from kits provided by the national EWH organization. We will be having a training session at our general meeting (see below) for this in which we will build the kits ourselves. General Meeting

We will be having a general meeting this Wednesday at which we will discuss the high school outreach program, upcoming repair sessions, our new design program and also go over the positions which are open for application. We will also be training for the high school outreach program by doing the ESU build kits ourselves at the meeting.

Alumni Repair Session February 13th, 12 pm

This repair session is going to be a little different. We invited some Northwestern alum to attend this session. You will have a chance to speak with them about going into industry, network, etc over a free lunch! After that, we will be having a normal repair session that will last about an hour.
