Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 0.2% in June, as compared with May results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, actually increased by 0.4% in June.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 13.0% of Base Rates in June versus 13.83% in May. This resulted in overall decrease in the CGFI index.

“Total Freight Costs are 1.4% higher than a year ago. In June, Cross Border LTL and Domestic Truckload Costs increased while Domestic LTL and Cross Border Truckload saw a decrease,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers increased by 0.3% in May, as compared with April results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 0.3% in May also.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 13.83% of Base Rates in May versus 13.95% in April.

“Total Freight Costs are 1.7% higher than a year ago,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.  ”In May, Cross Border LTL lead the increase and Domestic Truckload Costs increased marginally while Domestic LTL  and Transborder Truckload saw a marginal decrease,” continued Payne.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, increased by 0.5% in March.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers decreased this month. Fuel was 14.69% of Base Rates in March versus 14.80% in February.

“Total Freight Costs increased, driven by strong increases in the Domestic Truckload Costs. Cross Border and Domestic LTL Costs decreased while Cross Border Truckload had a marginal increase. This is the third straight month that Total Costs have increased driven by the Truckload Costs,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.”

Results published today by the Canadian General Freight Index (CGFI) indicate that the Total Cost of ground transportation for Canadian Shippers decreased by 1.1% in December, as compared with November results.

The Base Rate Index, which excludes the impact of Accessorial Charges assessed by carriers, decreased by 1.7% in December, but marginally better than a year ago.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 13.47% of Base Rates in December versus 12.67% in November.

“Total Freight Costs continued to slide in December. Cross Border LTL led the decrease, followed by Cross border Truckload and the domestic segment,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx. “Year over Year, Total Domestic Costs remain above last year’s level, and the Total Cross Border Costs still remain well below last year’s costs,” continued Payne.

Average Fuel Surcharges assessed by Carriers increased this month. Fuel was 12.10% of Base Rates in October versus 11.59% in September.

“Total Freight Costs increased marginally in October. All segments were in the positive territory this month with Cross Border LTL having the largest increase. Year over Year, Domestic Costs remain above last year’s level, and the Cross Border Costs are well below last year’s Costs,” said Doug Payne, President & COO, Nulogx.
