Arai ranks highest in satisfying motorcycle helmet owners for a tenth consecutive year, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Motorcycle Helmet Satisfaction Study.

The study measures the overall satisfaction of motorcyclists with their new helmet by examining 11 key areas: quietness; ventilation/air flow; de-fogging; face shield ability to keep wind out; face shield ability to resist scratching; ease of replacing face shield; scratch resistance of shell; color/graphic design; weight; ease of fastening the strap; and comfort/fit.

While the AMA President is committing political suicide, the Oakland Police Department has put their money where it matters. After complaints from most of their motorcycle officers, the department has reversed a decision to equip their Harley-Davidson fleet with quiet exhaust.

"There's an old motorcycle adage that you are heard before you are seen," said Deputy Chief Dave Kozicki, explaining the department's decision to toss the bikes' muted factory-issued mufflers in favor of the more high-volume pipes.

Recently, an Oakland officer was struck by a vehicle who's driver said he didn't hear the police motorcycle approaching.

Harley-Davidson continues downward value of stock

H-D stock fell to $14.40 a share in premarket trading on Monday. Harley-Davidson’s high value in the last 52 weeks was over $48 a share.

If H-D stock continues to decline at this rate, bikers may lose the iconic motorcycle manufacturer no matter how much they love their motorcycles. But if H-D can somehow stem the stock market losses, it may soon be a good time to get some stock in the company.
