The Circuit Elders for the Northwest District have been selected and have had their initial meeting.  That meeting was a training session led by Kurt Boggan, the Director of the Center for Lay and Clergy Excellence in Leadership.  Circuit Elders groups will begin to be called together this summer.  The goals for the groups will be developing “peer to peer” relationships for support and encouragement, and the Circuit Elder providing assistance to congregations in the Charge Conference setting.  Those selected and trained to serve as a Circuit Elder for the coming year are:

You’re invited to join Rev. Carness Vaughan and Rev. Les Oliver, Central UMC, Rogers, on the trip of a lifetime.  Departing September 15 from XNA the tour ten day tour to England will include highlights of all sites from our John and Charles Wesley heritage.  Tour sites include:  Windsor Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare’s birth city), Asbury House (Birmingham), New Room and Charles Wesley House (Bristol), City Road Chapel and John Wesley’s home (London), Old Rectory and St. Andrews Church (Epworth), Coventry Cathedral, St. Mary de Crypt (Gloucester), Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and all the London sites you’ve ever wanted to see.

A study guide on our Wesleyan Heritage will be provided as well as brief lectures (enroute) by Carness (and Ashley) who lived in England for several years.  Les (and Jane) will service as tour host.

Several Northwest Arkansas churches have partnered together for Lent, and have created a Sermon Series and daily devotional study, entitled “Stranger”. This series, along with mission projects, will be the focus of six campuses in NWA. The participating churches are First Church/Pontiac, First Bentonville, Prarie Grove, Farmington, and Trinity in Fayetteville.

All of this will be happening on all 6 campuses during the Lenten season.
