Mario Cart Bike Lane

All around our biking city today look for these Mario Cart Symbols in the bike lane. NWT loves them, it is a good reminder that creativity isn't just in the paid gigs and the day-to-day responsibilities - but can be found many other places. Though illegal these definitely show pride in our biking culture and brings a smile to our faces. Bikes, good-natured vandalism and Mario Cart - we love them all.

Today NW Transplant turned in two proposals for the Women in Film Faerie Godmother Grant (We are 50% female owned). One is a documentary about Sasquatch, or “Sassy,” as he likes to be called, showing how the presence and search for our loveable Wookie-esque neighbor impacts the Pacific Northwest. We also are gearing up and looking for funding for a children’s web series about the Universe, “News of the Universe.” “Cause we love science, space, educating kids, and having a million projects on our plate. Wish us luck!

The most beautiful thing I have ever seen?

Portland has always led the nation on environmental policy. Now we are planning a way to ween Portlanders off plastic bags. Fred Meyer has decided before Portland bans the bags, the chain store is opting out of using plastic bags at all of their stores in Portland. NW Transplant loves it! Rest assured, citizens of Stumptown - we never package our great videos and media campaigns in plastic bags! Lets embrace the change, and get rid of these eyesores that use oil and create dangerous waste.

"Zombie" Car Crash in Portland

We love Portland for many reasons: the variety of restaurants, the laid-back attitude of the inhabitants, the... ZOMBIES?!

It seems a car crashed the other day on I-84 near the Lloyd exit (and close to NW Transplant HQ). The passengers inside were horribly disfigured, oozing puss, showing signs of severe trauma. In short, they were zombies.

Okay, so they were just a group of people dressed like zombies for a party (they were all treated for minor injuries and, as of yet, are not really animated corpses). But in Portland, you never can be too sure.

A summer Street Fair in Portland what could be better?

We are so glad we could make it out to the Mississippi Street Fair, great food, drink, and local art and music. Some of favorite new finds were the saltly and chewy toffee bacon cookies and Le Cookie Money, the interesting grilled gourment peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at PBJs and the lightweight feel of bamboo originals clothes, I had to get a summer dress for myself.

2. Stick your face in a Benson Bubbler and remember to shower thoroughly that night.

3. Ride your bike down Council Crest – no hands if you can.

4. Stick your underwear in the freezer for an afternoon refresher (ask supervisor before doing this at work).

We’re back in full swing after a great trip over to Croatia: Medieval villages, crystal clear waters, and the best ice cream in the world. Now we are rested and ready to work, and it is a good thing, we are as busy as we have ever been. And with the projects growing and growing, we know that we can’t do it alone. Dazzling effects, superb acting, and a heart-touching story of sandwich love and beautiful sandwich dreams, yes it is our first NW Transplant music video. This video for Pink Martini’s 'Où est ma tête?’ translated to, ‘Where is My Head?’ was inspired by Portland’s prolific food carts. That Time of Year

It seems like a long time coming...but it's finally summer. Summers in Portland include warm nights drinking a cold brew outside, using bikes to get to where you're going, farmer's market goodies and, at least in our case, getting some much needed exterior shots!. We admit it, during our long and rainy spring, NW Transplant delayed shooting some needed outdoor shots, but now we can't get enough of it. Each shot has those perfect puffy clouds floating overhead - it's so dreamy. Here's to 4 months of beautiful outdoor shoots.... and cold brews.

Nike Freestyle project begins

The group of Doernbecher Hospital patients that will be designing their very own Nike shoes has been assembled.

NW Transplant was there to capture the moment when they all officially heard about the project and what they will be working on. It really was an exciting day. This project is going to be so much fun and it means so much to so many people, at Nike and especially at Doernbecher. One of the guys heading the project at Nike said they are able to raise almost 1 million dollars for the hospital. It's now Doernbecher's biggest fundraiser. NWT is very happy to be involved.

The next shoot is right around the corner. We'll let you know how it goes.

Planned Parenthood Update

The grand opening ceremony for the new Planned Parenthood facility in Portland was great. There was a real feeling of pride and accomplishment in the air. The ceremony opened with three neighborhood religious leaders (including a passionate Baptist preacher), which I thought was the perfect juxtaposition to the opposition that set up camp outside.

We shot some short interviews with supporters, volunteers, and staff. They turned out great. We even had the former CEO at the national level and the current Seattle CEO speak about what Planned Parenthood means to them. We got a great spectrum of perspectives, and we are really excited to see how it turns out. Stay tuned!

Planned Parenthood New Facility Grand Opening

The new Planned Parenthood facility at MLK and Beech is having a romantic Valentine's Day grand opening at two this afternoon. Supposedly, 500 people sent in their RSVPs for this thing!

We are covering the event as well as producing a series of interviews with PP volunteers, supporters, and staff. We urge all of our friends to support PP for the great work they do.

Another successful Turkey Day in stumptown. NW Transplant gathered for a feast only to later realize that the water west of the Willamette was contaminated with E. coli. Translation: poopy drinking water. Luckily, the members of this team had the foresight to only drink wine and lots of it.
