Cities in Europe allow dogs and for dog over a certain weight, charge a half-priced ticket. Bringing in a half-price dog ticket could certainly benefit all transit riders by possibly eliminating the need for yet another overall fare hike. You may complain about the stench, however trains are well ventilated. Yes, some dogs may accidentally poop or pee on the subway once in a while but it is illegal to leave it. We as transit riders can self police and make sure that such incidences are taken care of quickly and thoroughly. It's absolutely inhumane that in a city with such tiny apartments, that dogs seem to be confined to their quarters for most of the day because of the MTA's policy.
