What a weekend!!!

OK, here's the vitals so far from NYI Convention 2008 @ Slemon Park, PEI:

Approximately 60 people have participated in the Nazarene 30 Hour Famine so far from our district! That's over 1800 collective hours of fasting! We raised a whopping $6300 with still more coming in! Way to take up the call of justice, folks!

Out of all the groups that did the Famine Sherwood raised this most at $1643.55 and Moncton First got the most per person with $1300 between 6 people! Everyone did an amazing job!

For Quizzing, Elmsdale won the third tournament and, therefore, went up against Oxford (Truro was absent) for the final quizoff. The final was on Galatians 2 and Elmsdale won by half a point! That makes the year's standings as follows:
- 1st Place - Elmsdale
- 2nd Place - Oxford
- 3rd Place - Truro

The 47th Student registered, Jamenson Clark from Lutes Mtn., got the luck of the draw for the early registration contest and went home with a brand new 4GB iPod Nano! Congrats!

The Music Video Contest has yet to be judged but here are 2 of the four entries:

A Li'l Bit - A weekly devotional podcast where teenagers can hear God's Word presented in a real and relevant way. Nothing crazy, nothing too hard to understand... just "a li'l bit" of scripture shared in fun, 10 minute, easy-to-understand segments.

UPDATE: Instructions regarding the Famine have been sent out via email. Let me know if you need that email (jon@nyiatlantic.org). Once you have picked a date and have some names, please click here and fill out the form. This will allow us to track the Famines and decide a winner. Feel free to fill it out more than once. Remember, though, that you still need to register with World Vision.

I hope everyone is well rested and keeping warm and dry these days.

Well, the next big thing coming up is the Nazarene 30 Hour Famine. This is in ONE WEEK! I will update you all as I get info and such, but I recommend that you designate a leader to phone World Vision at 1-888-8FAMINE and let them know when you are doing the famine (February 22-23) and you are with the Nazarene Church (ie: Nazarene Famine). They should be able to either rush your pledge sheets out walk you through using the online service.

Feel free to let us know if you have any problems setting this stuff up or if you need to reschedule your famine.
