Blogging is a way to express ones feeling about the surrounding world, so that any one have a look at the post can learn the feelings of a person even though both haven’t interacted. Resetting a Forgotten Password in Windows

Some notes about the accounts and the passwords

- The built-in Administrator account is found on the Welcome screen only if there are no other accounts available, other than Guest, or when the computer is booted into Safe Mode.
- To get Admin account on the “Welcome Screen” make sure that there are no accounts logged in.
- The built-in Administrator account can create and change passwords for all users, but cannot restore a forgotten one.
- When a password is changed, that account will lose all encrypted files, personal certificates and stored Internet Explorer passwords or network resources.
- Press “CTRL-ALT-DEL” twice to get the classic Windows logon box. Type: Administrator. If this account has a password, enter it. Otherwise, leave the it blank.
- Recovering a password is much more difficult. Using a cracking program can take weeks!
RESET A PASSWORD USING THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT

1. Boot into Safe Mode.
2. Log on using the built-in Administrator account.
3. Open: Control Panel -> User Accounts.
4. On the Users tab, select a user name, the password to change and click Reset Password.
RESET A PASSWORD AT THE LOGON SCREEN WITH THE COMMAND PROMPT

At the logon screen, press Shift+F10 to open a Command Prompt with adminisrative priviledges and type:

net user {username} {password}

{username} = The Account’s User Name
{password} = This will be the new password

Windows 7 first looks - Screen shots - Xclusive!

Microsoft on Tuesday took the wraps of the preview version of Windows 7, which will be the successor to Vista. Julie Larson Green, Microsoft’s vice president for Windows experience, hosted a demo in which she walked attendees through the features of the operating system.At first glance, Windows 7 maintains the streamlined look of Vista, but appears more muted — even Windows XP-like. Mostly, Microsoft seems to be focusing more on functionality, possibly in a bid to put some distance between Windows 7 and the criticisms which have dogged Vista.

Most obviously, a quick tour through Windows 7 reveals its new taskbar, which is sparser than in previous iterations of the OS. From the screen shots, it’s clear that Microsoft has listened to criticism and tuned many features, including search and access to security controls. The look and feel of the user interface is also highly customizable. The version of Windows 7 previewed at PDC is technically a pre-beta release. The official shipment of the final version is expected in about a year’s time.

Google Inc., which is celebrating its 10th birthday this month, today unveiled a $10 million effort to implement ideas that can “change the world by helping as many people as possible.” As part of the Project 10^100 (pronounced Project 10 to the 100th), Google plans to ask its users to submit ideas until Oct. 20 for ways to improve people’s lives. Google will choose what it feels are the 100 best ideas and then allow its users to vote on which of them should be funded. The users will narrow the results to 20 finalists, and a panel of judges will choose up to five ideas that will receive funding, Google said.
Google noted that the ideas can be big or small, technology-driven or not. But they do have to have a potential positive impact on the world. The company cited an example of two people coming up with an idea to help millions of people carry water long distances by designing the Hippo Water Roller, a relatively inexpensive 24-gallon container that can be easily wheeled on the ground. The categories for the project include, but are not limited to, community, energy, environment, health, education, shelter and opportunities for people to better provide for themselves and their families. Start thinking!!!!

Google to bring back old newspapers

Google is redoubling efforts to offer a digital archive of the world’s newspapers. Two years ago, the search giant began indexing the existing digital archives of papers like The New York Times and The Washington Post, and today, with a post to The Official Google Blog, the company said it’s now working with other publishers to bring a much broader range of old newsprint into the project. “We’re launching an initiative to make more old newspapers accessible and searchable online by partnering with newspaper publishers to digitize millions of pages of news archives,” the post says. “Not only will you be able to search these newspapers, you’ll also be able to browse through them exactly as they were printed - photographs, headlines, articles, advertisements and all.”

Partners include the Quebec Chronicle-Telegraph, the oldest newspaper in North America at 244 years. They don’t include even older papers from across the pond. This newly digitized content is available through the Google News Archive, accessible via the main Google News site. “Stories we’ve scanned under this initiative will appear alongside already-digitized material from publications like the New York Times as well as from archive aggregators, and are marked ‘Google News Archive,’” the post continues. “Over time, as we scan more articles and our index grows, we’ll also start blending these archives into our main search results so that when you search Google.com, you’ll be searching the full text of these newspapers as well.”

After seeing the new ad from Microsoft, which debuted on September, some may wonder what Jerry Seinfeld helping Bill Gates pick out a new pair of shoes has to do with software. The answer, in the classic Seinfeld sense of the word, is nothing. Nevertheless, the spot is the first and most visible sign of an ambitious effort by Microsoft’s Windows business to reconnect with consumers around the globe.
The new campaign will highlight how Windows has become an indispensible part of the lives of a billion people around the globe -- not only on PCs but also now online and via mobile devices. It will illustrate how Windows integrates consumer experiences across PCs, online and on mobile phones through Windows Vista, Windows Live and Windows Mobile. Microsoft is working with retail partners and PC manufacturers to enhance the experience consumers have with Windows at every touch-point:

Comscore as well as Nielsen Netratings estimated Google’s U.S. search engine market at more than 60% in July. While the market research firms have come up with substantially different numbers for their July report, both agree that Google now runs more than three times the numbers of searches of its closest rival and more than twice the searches of Yahoo and Microsoft combined. Comscore and Nielsen Netratings posted market share numbers for Google at greater than 60% for the second time this year. However, while the April result could have been considered as a blip, the July result fits the pattern of Google chipping away market share from its rivals, bit by bit.
Nielsen Netratings estimates that Google was used for 60.2% or more than 4.8 billion of 8.0 billion searches started by U.S. users during the month of July. Comcast came up with a 61.9% share for Google and 7.3 billion searches of a total of a total of 11.8 billion. Both Yahoo and Microsoft keep losing ground: Nielsen puts the two companies at 17.4% and 11.9%, Comscore at 20.5% and 8.9%. Google’s market share gains appear to have accelerated in 2008, with much stronger growth than in previous years. According to Nielsen Netratings, Google had a market share of 46.2% in July 2005, 49.2% in July 2006 and 53.3% in July 2007. Over the past year, Google was able to increase its market share by almost seven percentage points – more than in any other 12-month period before.

EA unveils Godfather 2

Electronic Arts is once again hoping to profit from Mario Puzo’s mafioso drama with a sequel to their surprisingly competent Godfather game (pictured above), cleverly dubbed Godfather 2. The new entry in the series, scheduled for release on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms in February of 2009, sees the story expand to include criminal operations in Cuba, Florida and Godfather mainstay New York City.

Key to this new crime empire is the customized crew system. “Each family member specializes in a specific field such as demolitions, arson, engineering, first-aid and more. As The Don you control the family, sending some of your men on missions while heading off into action with others,” the official press release explains. Players will once again roam open-world environments as the newly appointed Don of New York. In keeping with the new position of leadership, players will handle strategic organizational aspects of the mob, like establishing and maintaining criminal endeavors and creating a stable of Made Men.

Intel's graphic chip line - Intel Larrabee

Intel has unveiled details of the chip that will spearhead its move into computer graphics. It has revealed blueprints for the Larrabee chip that is scheduled to first appear in finished products in late 2009 or early 2010. Larrabee will be a stand-alone graphics processor unlike the onboard chips it produces for many PC makers. The move will bring Intel into direct competition with graphics specialists Nvidia and the ATI division of AMD. Intel is aiming to put Larrabee into graphics cards for PCs that help show games and video in very high detail. Like existing graphics chips from Nvidia and ATI, Larrabee is expected to have many separate processing cores onboard.

So far Intel has not said how many processing cores Larrabee will have onboard at launch or in subsequent generations. Future Nvidia and ATI graphics chips are expected to be made up of several hundred cores. While Intel will initially target the PC graphics card market, it expects the raw computer power in the chip to help with oil and gas exploration, medical imaging and financial services in the future. Many scientists and researchers already use coupled graphics cards as a desktop supercomputer that helps them carry out simulations far faster and cheaper than on a larger dedicated machine. Intel said it would release more details about Larrabee at the upcoming Siggraph computer graphics conference due to be held in Los Angeles from 12-15 August.

Toyota introduced Winglet, Segway competition

Toyota Motor on Friday showed off a new stand-up scooter that could one day be seen zipping alongside the Segway on the personal-transporter superhighway. The “Winglet” has a body the size of an A3 sheet of paper that houses an electric motor, two wheels, and internal sensors that constantly monitor the rider’s position and make adjustments in power to ensure stability. A parallel link mechanism lets riders go forward, backward, and turn by shifting body weight, making the Winglet potentially useful for maneuvering in tight spaces or crowded urban environments. Riders can cruise around at a leisurely 3.7 mph–not ideal for rushing to a meeting, but nice for scooting around a shopping mall, perhaps. (The Segway, by comparison, can hit 12.5 mph.)

The Winglet comes in small, medium, and large sizes ranging in height from 18 inches to 3 feet 8 inches, with handlebars that also rise to different levels. All three models are about 18 inches wide and 10 inches long. The smallest version weighs 22 pounds, and can be folded and tossed into a (big) bag for optimal shoulder dislocation. All versions of the device take an hour to charge. No word yet on when we might see commuters atop the contraptions. The company will start testing the vehicle this fall at a Japanese airport and a seaside resort. More testing is planned for 2009 at shopping complexes and other bustling locales.

LG introduces Blu-Ray player with Netflix support

On Thursday, LG Electronics launched the LG BD300 Network Blu-ray Disc player, a DVD player that will play both Blu-ray and standard definition discs. As a bonus, the player will also allow consumers to instantly stream any of the 12,000 movies and TV episodes available to Netflix subscribers. With a wired broadband connection, Netflix members can access their account information and “Queue” via the BD300. Once there, customers can browse movie selections, read synopses, and rate movies. They will also be able to pause, fast forward, and rewind their film choices with the BD300’s remote control.

The player also features LG’s BD Live functionality that provides bonus content, real-time extras, and special picture-in-picture access for selected Blu-ray discs. This is not Netflix’s first foray into the set-top box arena; their streaming capabilities can be found in the Netflix Player by Roku, a product that offers Netflix account access and content streaming without a PC but is not a disc player. The company also recently announced that they will partner with Microsoft’s Xbox Live service for the Xbox 360 this fall. Xbox Live Gold members can already buy and store content on their consoles, but those who also have Netflix accounts will be able to stream Netflix movies to their Xbox as well.

Firefox 3: Allow Windows to Swap Memory When Application is Minimized

If you keep having problems with Firefox eating up too much memory, you can add a preference that will allow Windows to swap out memory when the application is minimized.

1. Open Firefox 3.

2. In the Location Bar, input about:config.

3. Click to get past the warning message that appears.

4. Right-click anywhere on the preference list.

5. Click New and select Boolean.

6. When prompted to input a New boolean value, input the following:

config.trim_on_minimize

7. Select true for the value.

8. Click OK.

9. Restart Firefox 3.

Here's some news about robot music ...
It is known news that Rahman has been roped in to compose the tunes for the ambitious venture of Shankar ‘Robot‘ which stars superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai in the lead. Reports say that Rahman is said to have charged a whopping Ten Crores for churning out the tunes for this project.
Given the nature of Shankar and the magnanimity of the movie, it looks like every penny is worth spending on Rahman and the musical maestro has already got on to the job of composing and creation which means that his mammoth remuneration has been accepted. It now remains to be seen how far will Rahman justify his fee for this heavy duty film.

Google launches Lively a virtual world

A really bad news for Second Life: Google is launching a new service today called Lively, a browser based virtual world add-on that lets users create and customize avatars and worlds, interact with other users, and generally have a richer social interaction than is offered by GTalk today. Worlds can be embedded into web pages, although only Windows users on IE or Firefox can view them, after an add-on download and installation. Mac and Linux users will have to wait for now.

Google has created a number of sample rooms that can be copied and altered, or users can start from scratch and build their own world. Furniture and other items can be added and moved around. Avatars can talk to each other, do things like dance and shake hands, and manipulate objects (in a demo, my avatar was able to blow up drums of toxic waste by double clicking on them. Users can also, of course, chat with each other - GTalk is the underlying chat engine. This isn’t yet a full Second Life competitor. There’s no single world, for example, where users can move around. But it’s easy to see Google evolving this into a single online world. And then, of course, selling advertising into it.
