<itunes:summary>Oakwood Community Church is a non-denominational church with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. We are located in northern Oakland County near Oxford, Ortonville, and Lapeer, Michigan. Oakwood is full of friendly, caring people with a variety of faith backgrounds and life experiences. Our mission is Sharing God’s Love and Living God’s Word. We are passionate about reaching our community for Christ and we're dedicated to helping you grow in your relationship with God and build genuine relationships with other people. Oakwood is a place where you can experience the life-changing love of Jesus Christ, be encouraged in your faith, and find meaningful ways to serve others in the church and community. These podcast episodes are the messages taught at Oakwood during our weekly worship services. Dr. Don Holliday is the Senior Pastor at Oakwood and preaches most Sundays, with occasional messages being taught by Pastor Shane Stec or other guest speakers. Please take some time to explore our website at www.oakwoodcc.org to learn more about Oakwood Community Church.</itunes:summary>

We see in Scripture that the early church prayed together constantly. We can also see that everyone was involved in these prayer sessions, including women and Jesus’ family (Acts 1:14). Oakwood is planning a Prayer Walk on Sunday, January 15th from 1:00 to 4:00pm. You are invited to walk through the church, learn about the purpose and vision of our ministries, and pray for God to use each one to change lives and bring people closer to Him. Parents can use this opportunity to demonstrate the importance of praying for the church to their children. Let’s start the new year right by seeking God together and praying for our church and community. Join us for the Prayer Walk anytime between 1:00 and 4:00pm on Sunday, January 15th at Oakwood Community Church!

Christmas Eve Service – 6:30pm

Our Christmas Eve service will feature a dramatic presentation with the innkeeper in Bethlehem, Christmas songs and a candlelight closing. During this one hour service, the nursery will not be staffed but will be open for parents who wish to use the room and stay with their little ones.

Christmas Morning Service – 10:30am

On Sunday, December 25th we will meet for worship at our normal time of 10:30am. We will celebrate Christ’s birth with a family-friendly worship service featuring upbeat Christmas songs and a devotional message from Pastor Don. The Christmas service will last about an hour. The nursery and toddler rooms will be open and staffed to care for infants and toddlers. Our SONshine Park children’s ministry will not be meeting on Christmas day, so older children will be in the worship service with their family.

Hope to see you at Oakwood this Christmas! Invite your friends to celebrate with us!

For those of you that haven’t heard, Oakwood Community Church launched a new website last week! You can check it out at www.oakwoodcc.org. Our new site also has a blog that we will use to communicate important news and announcements, information about upcoming events, and more! We also use the blog to manage the podcast of the weekly messages from Oakwood’s worship services. All weekly messages from 2011 are available on our new site (older messages are available from the church library). You can play the mp3s directly in your browser on your computer or mobile device, download them to your computer, or you can subscribe to our podcast via iTunes or another feed reading program. Subscription links are also available on our blog and podcast at blog.oakwoodcc.org.

If you already subscribed to our podcast through iTunes or another program before the new website, you may have noticed that the audio files were missing after we launched the new site. Switching hosting companies temporarily broke the links to our podcast on iTunes and Feedburner. I’m happy to report we have successfully transitioned over to the new podcast feed and both iTunes and Feedburner are updating correctly. If you’ve already subscribed to our podcast through one of those options, it will automatically update next time you open iTunes or your feed reading software. Please email me at shane@oakwoodcc.org if you experience any problems. Thanks!

As we near the end of 2011 we are excited to finally launch Oakwood’s new website! Along with a complete redesign and a lot of new content on our main website, we’ve also added this new blog. Here at the blog you will find important news and announcements, as well as information about upcoming events at Oakwood. The sermon podcast will also be managed through the blog (you can still subscribe to it via iTunes or the church’s Feedburner feed). Overall the website and blog will be key parts of our strategy as we move into 2012 with a renewed vision and commitment to communicate better with the church and our community.

We still have a number of new features to implement, including things like online event registration, small group listings, online giving, and email newsletters. We’ll also be adding more engaging content & working to keep the site updated and helpful for people who are wanting to get connected at Oakwood and grow in their relationship with God. Take some time to look around and feel free to provide feedback and suggestions. And keep checking back for additional features and content!
