best album since whats the story, every one the tracks is a joy to listen to (apart from high horse lady, i just dont get it) i just love how each track sounds so different to the next. if some had played me im outta time without me knowing it was written by liam i would of thought noel had written it, liam song writing is top notch

i really cant belive how much bad press this album gets, ok fair enough it aint whats the story, but come on there are some classics here. do u know what mean is a proper rock tune, and dont go away is such a cool tender tune, this album is so underated

The Importance of reviewing this song - 5/5

This is quite possibly the song that I view as one of Oasis' best. Pure brilliance on the part of Noel and Liam. This song has a little more power to it than some of the other songs released in this time in the band's history, but it is no less as good

I think that it's the best after (what's the story morning glory. the songs are completly different from eachother... that make Dig out your Soul an album that never bores u!

I'm Outta Time, Falling Down, The Shock of The Lightning and Bag it up are EXCELENT

B-Sides Win - 5/5

Oasis' best kept secret and one of their sources of best quality songs is their b-sides on their singles. 'The Masterplan' puts the best of those hard-to-find treasures into a great collection. 'Acquiesce', perhaps the quintessential Oasis tune and the grandiose title track are the cream of the crop. Also great is their live cover of The Beatles' 'I Am The Walrus' and two acoustic songs sung by Noel Gallagher, 'Talk Tonight', and 'Half The World Away'. If I could have my choice as to some other great b-sides that didn't make the cut I would definitely say 'Round Are Way' and 'D'Yer Wanna Be A Spaceman?' would've been a nice addition. My favourite songs from this are 'Acquiesce', 'The Masterplan', 'The Swamp Song' and 'Going Nowhere'.

An essential Oasis album - 4/5

'Don't Believe The Truth' is where Oasis really started to come back to life so-to-speak. It still has some forgettable songs like 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel' and 'The Meaning Of Soul' but it's more than made up for by the great Noel-sung songs like 'Part Of The Queue', 'The Importance Of Being Idle' and 'Mucky Fingers'. The first single 'Lyla' is an OK song but I can see why it was pushed by the record company as being a more pop-radio type of song. Overall it has a very retro feel and some great use of acoustic guitar. The Andy Bell written 'Keep The Dream Alive' is a surprisingly great song. My favourite songs from this are 'Part Of The Queue', 'The Importance Of Being Idle', 'Let There Be Love', and 'Mucky Fingers'.

An Underrated Classic - 4/5

As everyone already knows, 'Be Here Now' was supposed to be the great follow-up to Oasis' first two masterpiece albums. As far as initial sales go it was a successful album but ended up being heavily criticized. The band was riding high (literally) off their success and did get a little too caught up in themselves. This album is, ironically, the reason I started listening to the band. 'D'You Know What I Mean?' was the first Oasis song that got me into the band (and the single was the first Oasis CD I ever bought, and, I still own the original copy). I tend to agree with Liam Gallagher more than Noel on this album. I do believe it is a "top record", just a little too long (Some songs could have been cut out such as 'Fade In-Out', 'The Girl In The Dirty Shirt', and the title track. For me, the songs 'My Big Mouth' and 'D'You Know What I Mean?' are the pinnacle of Oasis' coked-out arrogant rampage (and unlike many others, I f***ing love it). My favourite songs from this are D'You Know What I Mean?, Don't Go Away, Stand By Me, and My Big Mouth.

Morning Glory was truly the high-point of Oasis' creative genius and popularity. I guess this album appeals to more people because of the softer, more intimate songs like 'Wonderwall' and 'Cast No Shadow' (the overall atmosphere being notably softer than the previous album). It is a brilliant collection of songs that hails as one of the best albums of the '90s. It is difficult for me to pick a favourite between this record and the previous one 'Definitely Maybe'. The B-Sides of the singles from this album are almost all just as amazing as the tracks on the album (some even more-so). Oasis were most definitely the best band in the world during this time. There really isn't any lackluster moments on this album; it really is solid gold (well, actually, multi-platinum in the UK, US and Canada). My favourite songs include 'Champagne Supernova', 'Don't Look Back In Anger', 'Cast No Shadow', and 'Some Might Say'.

Definitely Amazing - 5/5

I honestly believe that 'Definitely Maybe' is the best debut album by any British Pop Rock group (with honourable mentioning to the Smiths and the Stone Roses). It really showed how Oasis had so much potential for greatness. A straight-up rock'n'roll masterpiece (a trend that would come to it's height on the next album). This album has it's own distinctive overall sound with Liam Gallagher's vocals sounding a little different than on later albums (perhaps because of his age at the time). The album's atmosphere is typified with songs such as 'Up In The Sky', 'Columbia', 'Bring It On Down', and 'Slide Away'. If I had to pick a least liked song it would probably be 'Digsy's Dinner'. My favourite tracks are 'Live Forever', 'Cigarettes & Alcohol', 'Supersonic', and 'Bring It On Down'.

Best album since Be Here Now - 4/5

'Dig Out Your Soul' is definitely Oasis' best album since 'Be Here Now'. From start to finish it is a pleasure to listen to. It does focus a lot more on the grooves. 'The Shock Of The Lightning' is a brilliant first single and Liam Gallagher has finally reached the level of being a great songwriter with 'I'm Outta Time' and 'Ain't Got Nothin'' (which do sound a lot like John Lennon and The Who respectively but still Oasis). 'Falling Down' is another Noel-sung masterpiece growing on the songs he sang on the previous album. If I had to pick a least favourite moment from the album it would probably be 'Waiting For The Rapture' whose intro is so similar to The Doors' 'Five To One' that it made me a bit uncomfortable when first listening to it. Aside from that, the rest of the album rocks. My favourite songs are 'The Shock Of The Lightning', 'Falling Down', 'I'm Outta Time' and 'To Be Where There's Life'.

What Be Here Now should've been... - 5/5

This album is what Be Here Now shouldÂ´ve been. The only songs i dislike are Soldier On and High Horse Lady. All other songs are of pure quality. From the Beatles-like 'Waiting for the rapture' to the Oasis 1994-like 'Shock of the lightning'. Nuff said.

Could have been better - 5/5

The album is solid but it did not live up to the expectations I was hoping for. I loved the album (aside from AGN and TNOR), it was a slight change in sound (if it was any other band I'd say no change in sound, but for oasis this is a bit of a step). I enjoy the effort to make it more groovey.

My opinion of the album took a huge dive after hearing the Bonus Disk and listening to I Believe in All and Boy With the Blues. Why those two songs were left off the album is beyond me. Swtich those two for the other two I previously menionted and I think you have one of Oasis' best albums, but as many others have pointed out, the album just fizzles away at the end.

Overall I'm giving it a 5 because I dont think it deserves a 4, and there is no "half star" option.

It should have and could have been much better...
