Hey guys, This is Curtis, down here in Buxton with your Thursday morning surf report. The swell is around Waist to stomach high. The wind is out of the W. at around 5 mph. Super glassy but not much to get excited about with a north and south mix there is only peaks with just a few shoulders.

Beryl is Barreling Down on the Carolinas

If you’re on the Outer Banks and look South today, you can’t miss it. Tropical Depression Beryl is headed our way and will likely throw a few waves at us as it quickly passes. Currently, Beryl has maximum sustained winds near 35 mph with higher gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours which could regain tropical-storm strength later today. Isolated tropical storm force winds are possible along the South and North Carolina coasts and estimated rainfalls of 3-6 inches (with isolated spots getting 8 inches) are expected. Of course, when storms get this close, you can expect strong rip currents and hazardous surf conditions so know your limits if you plan on surfing in the next 24-48 hours. We will continue to monitor the surf conditions so stay tuned and hopefully the title of this blog becomes more of a reality in terms of surf.

This is Kevin at Hatteras Island Boardsports with your Avon surf report for Thursday morning. Surf has dropped significantly from early this morning. It is now only about knee to waist high. It is really glassy, but the waves are mostly just peaks, so rides will be short. Water temp at the Avon Pier is 73. There will be prizes, trophies, food, fun, and fellowship, so bring the family, invite your friends, and come spend the day on the beach.
