On February 9, 2012 the City of St. John's and OceansAdvance hosted the latest of their Ocean Technology Speaker Series at the Institute for Ocean Technology on Arctic Ave. The presentation was by Doug Cook, CEO of Petroleum Research Newfoundland and Labrador . With the memorable title “Collaborative Research and Development in the Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Oil and Gas Industry.” Cook gave a very informative presentation aided by PowerPoint.

MARINE INSTITUTE, ST. JOHN'S, NL, 15 Feb. 2012: The Holyrood Marine Base, with a $279,600 investment from the provincial government, is expanding its capacity for ocean-related research and training programs.

Owned and operated by the Marine Institute of Memorial University (MI), the Holyrood Marine Base is a marine training and research facility. It provides students, researchers and ocean technology companies with access to the tools and environment they need to develop their products.
