OC Profashional loves stylish work-ready looks achievable on a budget. It's no secret, working women love dresses. Quite simply, dresses are feminine and easy. A dress is one article of clothing. Throw on a pair of pumps and you're ready to head to the office! If it's chilly outside, pair a dress with stockings and a jacket. Dresses are versatile and essential pieces in every woman's closet. This week OC Profashional explores the style genius behind the peplum dress.

Peplum dresses are the secret weapon in any woman's closet. For those who are especially concerned with flaunting their mid-section, the peplum dress is perfect. The peplum waist hides a belly and distracts from the mid-section. Plus, the peplum style is perfect for women with a boyish figure. The flared waist creates the illusion of a natural hourglass shape. With a variety of choices from long sleeves to cap sleeves, peplum dresses are great work-ready options.

When shopping for a work appropriate peplum dress, look for...

1. PROPER FIT The flared peplum should sit along your natural waistline. If the peplum is to high it will shorten the torso and leave your tummy exposed. If the peplum is too low it will do little to hide your mid-section and will actually make your hips look large.

2. PROPER LENGTH In a professional enviornment modesty is important. Look for dresses that sit just above the knee or below the knee.

3. PIPING Piping enhances the structure of the dress and defines how a dress will sit on one's frame. Choose peplum dresses with piping along the bodice to define the waist.

4. PEPLUM SIZE Some peplum dresses feature shorter or longer peplums. If you are wider around the mid-section look for dresses with long peplums that cover the mid-section entirely.

5. LOOSE OR TAPERED SKIRT? For thin body types, wear peplum dresses with fitted skirts that taper close to the body. Fitted skirts are key, a loose skirt looks ill fitted and overwhelming on a small frame. For full figured women a tapered fit accentuates womanly curves. However, if you want to minimize your hips or thighs look for a loose skirt.

Today, walk into any office and you might spot young men in colorful ascots, patterned pocket squares and skinny suit pants. Work place styles vary from entry- level managers to senior executives, however expectations of professionalism remain the same. Whether at home or at work, the professional male should possess an arsenal of basic styles.

This week OC Profashional will break down the basics of the young male profashional's wardrobe. We will kick off this week's trending topic with an exploration into formal business attire.

Let's breakdown the basics...

1. GREY AND/OR NAVY SUIT Feel free to experiment with different tones and textures, however opt for timeless classic cuts. Whether you prefer a skinny leg trouser or a less-fitted straight leg, find a suit that suits your tastes and comfort level. Suits are essential for interviews, work days and work functions.

Style Tip: Grey and Blue hues dictate an heir of professionalism. In terms of color psychology, these colors are appealing to the masses. On the otherhand, while black suits look sharp, they can often project an aggressiveness that might be considered overly zealous at an interview. If you are on a budget stick to suits in grey or blue.

2. TIES All males should have 2"-3" ties in classic non-garish colors and designs.

Style Tip: Every male should have a black tie. Black ties are versatile and perfect for "black tie" events!

3. COTTON SHIRTS Make sure to purchase button-ups specifically for your professional wardrobe and keep another set for your casual wardrobe. Always have one in white and one in black. Purchase other shirts based on your style preference.

Style Tip: Always make sure your shirt is lighter than your tie! Plus, buy shirts in cotton fabric, they tend to breathe better.

4. BLACK OXFORDS When shined and polished oxfords dress up any look.

Style Tip: Always purchase genuine leather shoes! Leather is easy to clean, durable and appropriate with any outfit.

REMEMBER J.CREW FALL 2012 MEN'S WEAR?

J.Crew's Fall 2012 Men's Collection received praise and accolades from men everywhere. The polished looks and tailored fits brought a simplistic sensibility to professional menswear.

Women of the Victorian Age opted for thimble-thin waists, while flappers in the twenties concealed bust lines in favor of a more boyish figure. Today, not much has changed, women still epitomize a womanly hour glass shape and embrace any lingerie that enhances female assets. Above all other lingerie companies, Victoria's Secret seems to stand out among competitors.

Known for their feminine flair and backed by a bevy of beauties, they call Angels, Victoria's Secret is an enviable lingerie empire. Earlier this month, Full Picture asked OC Profashional to attend the celebratory opening of the first Southern California Victoria's Secret Pink store. OC Profashional was also asked to interview Victoria's Secret Angel, Elsa Hosk and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Pitcher, C.J. Wilson. Thursday, May 31, I arrived at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. I found myself amidst a slew of devoted fans lined up to meet the celebrities. One fan, even held a hand-painted picture of the Angel's pitcher. As fans eagerly waited outside I slipped inside the store. OC Profashional arrived early, so I took the opportunity to get a sneak peek at all the amazing Pink fashions. The Pink store is filled with colorful panties, bras and apparel that any girl would swoon over. From an over-sized striped sofa chair to the iconic Pink dogs, the store suits the colorful personality of the Pink brand.

Youthful beauty, Elsa travels across the states to promote the new Pink stores. Her angelic look and spirit shine as the face of Pink. She posed for pictures and enthusiastically commented on the new line of MLB apparel. Of course, C.J. showed his support for the line and his team. In fact, C.J. is an Orange County native and regularly participates in local fashion and music events. The two were easy on the eyes and a pleasure to interview. MEN'S CASUAL OFFICE WEAR FAUX PAS

Most offices take Casual Fridays a little to seriously. Just because suits and ties aren't a requirement, doesn't mean anything goes! Especially, for men who work in a casual work enviornment, it is important to understand the boundaries of what is "acceptable." From a fashion perspective, no matter what the workplace dresscode, clothes create a reflective image of the company and the individual. I say, why not make your image a professional one?

Here are three definite faux pas:

1. Text T's. Shirts with text on the front and/or back are unacceptable at the office. Even if you love a certain baseball team or football team, the office is not the place to wear your favorite jersey. Shirts with text are visually distracting and deter from the message of professionalism you want to project at work.

Try these instead...

2. Sandals. Sandals are only for the beach or the pool, always! While some work enviornments require dress shoes, in the casual work enviornment a less formal loafer, work boot or tennis shoe may be appropriate.

3. Shorts. No matter how hot it may be outside, shorts at the office are a no-no. In fact, only recently denim found its way back into the office. Even still, denim has many regulations, including: wash, fit and style boundaries. If you can't bear the heat try a light weight pant in a lighter fabric like linen.

Ultimately, think like an employer. Even in a casual work enviornment, make sure clothes show work is important to you. Concert tees and beach flip flops give the impression that one has better things to do than work at the office. Surely, we all know that you do, but fashion is about creating illusions and impressions. Sometimes, success is just about showing up and looking the part. The rest is just hard work, and you might as well look good while you do it!

Lately, I am busy planning my college graduation photo shoot and graduation party. Of course, I already went shopping for the perfect dress to wear under my gown. Surely, I will have plenty of photos to share with all my followers! In other news, I recently interviewed with a fashion company I absolutely love. Hopefully, I will hear good news regarding the position later this week. Until then I'll keep my fingers crossed!

In keeping with this weeks' neon trend, I decided to showcase a fun and trendy OC Street Style look! I am not exactly rocking "neons" however, I am wearing some pretty bright and bold pieces with neon accessories.

Colorful skinny jeans are an absolute must-have this year. To add contrast and texture to my outfit, I wore my teal jeans with an awesome leopard top I purchased at a cute boutique near my home. For a subtle pop, I paired the look with shiny neon bracelets and a hot pink clutch from Urban Expressions. MONDAY MEETING: NEON TREND

What a weekend! The 3rd Annual Orange County Fashion Showcase proved to be an incredible expereince. My friend Lysset and I loved dressing up and enjoyed all the fashions. OC Profashional also had the opportunity to connect with some amazing Orange County designers and network with fashion influencers in the area.

THIS WEEK'S TRENDING TOPIC:

NEON is everywhere lately! Neon is definitely the ultimate trend for summer. Intitially, I was a bit aprehensive about sporting bold brights. However, I must say, a few neon pieces are a great addition to any wardrobe. Don’t be afraid of color, embrace it!

Neutral colors work well with neon to add balance to an outfit. If you are still hesitant about the neon trend, start off small with accesories! There are many ways to work bright colors into your closet, without feeling like you are living in the 80's. Check out my trend how-to tomorrow for more tips!

OC STREET STYLE: STRIPED MAXI DRESS

I received a number of emails and comments about the dress I wore during night two of the Orange County Fashion Showcase. I thought it might be appropriate to do an OC Street Style post about the look!

For the showcase, I wanted to achieve a somewhat edgy urban-hipster look. I decided on the sleeveless, striped maxi-dress from Forever 21. I initially purchased the dress and thought it would be great for a summer BBQ or a day at the beach. However, the dress is so comfortable and versatile, I quickly found myself listening to the iconic words of fashion guru, Tim Gunn. With no idea what to wear, I pulled the dress out of my closet and said to myself, "make it work!"

I did exactly that. I paired the dress with a black blazer and some of my favorite accessories, including my House of Harlow double sunburst pendant necklace. In the end, I found the perfect balance, an edgy and urban look with a bit of sophistication.

My favorite part of the dress? Definitely the vertical stripes. The stripes elongate and flatter any body type.
