Android Device #2 coming to T-Mobile

T-Mobile has announced that their next Android offering will be available this summer. While this doesn't appear to be confirmed, the consensus seems to be that the device will be the HTC Magic (Vodafone version pictured here).

If thats the case, the cupcake-ready versions of Documents To Go and RoadSync will make a nice addition to your spiffy new handset.
Techno Unboxing of the Omnia HD (i8910)

Thinking of getting a Samsung Omnia HD? Wondering what exactly comes in that big old box other than a thin, Symbian S60 5th edition, touchscreen smartphone with a 3.7 inch screen and 8MP camera?? Well here you go (you may want to get your mute button ready, unless you have some glowsticks laying around):

Update: Documents To Go for Android

Just wanted to give you all a quick update on Documents To Go for Android. The initial response has been fantastic! Thousands of you have already taken advantage of our intro offer of $19.99. If you have an Android phone and haven't checked this out yet, make sure you do asap to get this price!

I just looked this morning and Documents To Go currently has 4.12 stars (out of 5) so it sounds like people are quite happy with it so far. Here's a few comments from the Android Market:

Does what it says its supposed to do. And very well too! Thank you. =) - mark

So much better than Quickoffice... Worth the $, too.- Rachal

This is what G1 has been waiting for! - Alistair

There are also some folks requesting PDF and PowerPoint support. Hopefully we'll have more news on that before too long. Stay tuned!

10 Reasons You Need Documents To Go for Android

Who doesn't love top 10 lists? We certainly do, so here are the top 10 reasons that you NEED Documents To Go for Android!

10. More Than Viewing – Document viewers are a dime a dozen, but with Documents To Go you can EDIT and CREATE documents and spreadsheets on your G1 or any other Android device, which comes in handy more often than you might think.

9. Office 2003 AND 2007 – “But DataViz,” you ask, “I don’t use Office 2007, so why do I care about this?” Sure some of you might not have made the jump to Office 2007, but lots of people and companies have, including some of your business partners who might be emailing you Office 2007 attachments. Could be a problem with some solutions, but with Documents To Go, no sweat!

8. Attachments – Isn’t it a pain when you see an email with an attachment but you can’t do anything with it? With Documents To Go, you can download your Word and Excel attachments, edit them if necessary and even send them back or forward them along to anyone you choose.

7. Security – Are you the type who leaves their phone in cabs all the time? Afraid people might get access to sensitive files? No worries; Documents To Go supports password protected files just like Office on your desktop.

6. Sum/Recalculate Data – I like to keep track of expenses when I’m traveling. You might want to update sales numbers on the road. Either way, Documents To Go makes this easy by recalculating the data quickly on-the-fly.

5. Emergencies – Let’s be honest, you’re kidding yourself if you think you can try to live a mobile life, leave your laptop behind, and not need to edit a file from time to time. Even if you’re not a power user, situations will surely come up where you'll NEED to made an edit, and when they do, Documents To Go is a lifesaver. Best to be prepared ahead of time, right? Especially when you can do it for an introductory price (more on that later!)

4. 10+ Years – Documents To Go has been in the mobile Office file editing game for over 10 years now. I dunno about you, but when I’m working with important files I don’t want to leave it to some fly-by-night company. We’ve had years to work out the kinks and you get to reap the benefits with a top of the line Office solution for your phone!

3. InTact – DataViz uses a revolutionary, homegrown technology called InTact which guarantees that your file's original formatting will be maintained no matter what!

2. Native – When you’re editing your files with Documents To Go, you’re editing the actual, native version of your Word or Excel file. Some solutions will require a translation of the file into a proprietary format while you’re editing it on the phone. At first thought, maybe not such a bad thing. But if you want to send the file to someone else, and it’s in a proprietary format, they’re not going to be able to do anything with it on their desktop. Working with native files gives you one less thing to worry about.

1. INTRO PRICE – Finally, you can get Documents To Go in the Android Market today for the low intro price of $19.99! Take advantage of this while you can and be the envy of all your friends who purchase Documents To Go down the road when they’re stuck needing to edit a file and have to pay more! (Where do I find it?)

'Classic' for webOS!

You can keep using your Palm OS apps on your Pre!

Say what you want about Palm OS being outdated - not many people will argue - but the fact is that there are lots of people holding on to their Treo's simply because of the abundance of 3rd party apps. One consequence of having the old school Palm OS available for so long is that people have become very much hooked on their core apps...so much so that they will avoid going to new hardware (and thus a new OS where their apps may not work) as long as possible.

MotionApps to the rescue! They've developed an app called Classic for webOS. Its essentially a Palm OS emulator so you'll be able to continue using many (all?) of your older Palm OS applications on new webOS devices like the Pre. From their blog:

"Yes, it’s true and it’s official – you will be able to run Palm OS apps on the new Palm Pre™. How? The name is Classic. And it answers one of the key questions since the announcement of Palm Pre at CES 2009 – will it be able to run Palm OS apps?"

This is sure to make a lot of people happy - customers will be glad to continue using their 'core' apps that they've grown accustomed to and developers can push this as a stopgap to get them by until they port their apps to webOS. Everybody wins! Are you excited?
