I try hard to keep all my papers and files neat and in one place. It doesn’t always happen, but I do try. But I’ve found that being organized can get a little tricky when it comes to binders. Even with all the dividers and sheet protectors in the world, I always end up with little pieces of papers and notes that I need to not only keep up with, but that I may need to easily reference from time-to-time.

Fortunately for me, I recently discovered Avery Pocket Tabs and must say I’m very happy with them. The dividers are sold in packs of 5 and a variety of sizes, and also offer a nice durable way to reference and store items like notes, cds, and business cards. They feature a self-adhesive backing that allows you to easily place and readjust them and large tabs for writing and highlighting. At around $6, I’d say these were a real steal.

The School Sherpa

Right in time for back to school, Sherpa released their latest collection of Sherpa’s including the School Sherpa.

I’m a big fan of Sherpa’s. They’re a great way to jazz up your favorite pens, highlighters, and Sharpies. And you can change them as often as you like without having to worry about damaging your pen or your ink drying out.

Office Max’s Office Supplies Dress

America’s Next Top Model participant Reina Hein is featured modeling Joy Teiken’s “The Rubberband (Wo) Man”

The words “office supplies” and “fashion statement” rarely, if ever go in the same sentence. But thanks to Office Max’s innovative showcase at this year’s Glamorama, that may no longer be the case. Held on this past Friday at the Chicago Theatre, Glamorama guests were treated to the unique and creative creations of four Chicago designers who were commissioned exclusively by Office Max for the annual event sponsored by Macy’s.

Each of the dresses incorporated office supplies including packing foam, paperclips, rubber bands, gold paper fasteners, and binder clips.

While I’ve seen office supplies used for a lot of unintended purposes, this one just might be one of the most innovative ways yet, and for a good cause! All monies raised were donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Chicago and Northwest Indiana.

The Pentel Oh! Gel is just so-so

I’m a sucker for a good gel pen. And while I’ll buy a gel pen from almost any pen maker, there’s no question that some are just better than others. My personal favorites happen to include the Pilot G-2 and Dr. Grip, Uni-Ball Vision RT, and PaperMate’s Gel Pens.

A few weeks ago I was in Staples (for something I can’t recall now) and happened upon Pentel’s Oh! Gel multi-pack in red, blue and black. I purchased my prefered point of choice, the 0.7, and went eagerly home to see if the performance would match up to the pretty packaging and design.

After using them over the course of a few weeks now, I must say that while I’m not totally disappointed, I’m not all that impressed either. I like the design and cushion grip, and the length is nice for those of us with larger hands. I also like the weight of the pen, it’s not too heavy or too light. But when writing it does tend to streak and distribute an uneven amount of ink in some places.

All inall, the Oh! Gel is just so-so.

You’re never too old to carry a pencil bag

If you ask me, you can never get too old to carry a pencil bag (or pouches, as they are now called). Not only are they great for keeping your purse, bag or desk organized, but they allow you to keep all of your favorite pens and pencils with you wherever you go. They’re also great for pen addicts like myself, who can never decide on just one pen, pencil or highlighter.

As a matter-of-fact, I carry a rather nice patent leather one myself (see below).

I got it from Wal-Mart just because it was pretty, shiny and has computer lingo all over it! And it’s functional. In it I keep all my pens, highlighters, and pencils that I love (at the moment) and just can’t live or leave without. If I lost it I’m almost certain I’d shed a tear or two.

But just like a good pen (and purse), a girl can never have too many pencil bags right? So, I’ve been on the prowl recently to find some new ones that are cute, washable (if possible), durable, lightweight, and just the right size to fit in my already overloaded purse. Kitchen Sink Paper Clip Dispenser

Now I’ve literally used everything except the kitchen sink as a paper clip holder before- and my desk has everything on it except one- so of course I found this little dispenser to be a must-have. I really like the small size because I’m always short on real estate on my desk and the faucet makes for a nice special effect, since it’s magnetic it literally looks as if your paper clips are running out of it. Yep, this goes on my wish list for sure.

I love a good purse just as much as the next woman, but throw in some Post-it notes and I’m simply head over heels. Leave it to Post-it to design such a fashion-forward office accessory, and at a fraction of the cost of a real crocodile tote. Too cute!

Twilight and Eclipse Office Supplies

Well, let’s start by getting the formalities out of the way. Let there be no question about it, this blog is Team Jacob -all day, everyday! I AM a self-confessed Twihard. Don’t judge me.

I’ve read the books and followed the phenomenon from print to film (just as any good bibliophile would). And last night I, like so many others, went to go see the midnight premiere of Eclipse ( just like I did Twilight and New Moon). And that’s about where my Twihardness (???) ends. But I know for some of you, you just can’t get enough!

So, in honor of my fellow Twihards, I thought I’d do a little digging and find some Twilight office supply products, because any franchise that has the following that Twilight does must have office products right? Right!

The most expensive pen in the world

Now I love pens, but I must admit I’m not a pen connoisseur or elitist. I can get just as much of an adrenaline rush from a $10 pen as one that costs $100 (not to mention I don’t have to worry about guarding it with my life). Might this be because of my budget? Yeah, but I just love pens and price doesn’t automatically include or exclude a writing instrument from my collection.

But let’s not be foolish, there are pens and then there are pens. Hence, the Aurora Diamente. Priced at a mind-boggling $1.3 million dollars. This Aurora original features more than 30 carats of De Beers diamonds, an 18 kt solid gold nib, features a one-of-a-kind portrait, coat of arms, and signature, and is available in white gold and solid platinum.

If you want this puppy you’d better have your $1.3 liquidated and close at hand because according to reports, only one of these beauties will be sold each year. Any takers?

My weekend pursuit of to-do lists and notepads

Throughout the course of a week I tend to make quite a few lists for work, shopping and personal reasons. Typically, I choose Post-its, notepads, notebook paper, Moleskines, my BlackBerry, my organizer, and even the back of receipts to make notes and jot down ideas. But the quest for the ultimate writing canvas is never over for an OSJ, and this weekend I proved this point yet again.

When I wasn’t trying to finish The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo (a good read by the way) or spending time with my family for Father’s Day, I dedicated some of my free moments to organizing a resource binder for my business. Part of this process included searching for printable to-do lists that I could use to organize my folder and plan my blogging schedule. Fortunately for me, Finch and Hawk had just what I needed. After a few minutes of doing a Google search, I discovered these beauties:

The “Freakin Never Ending To Do List” and “The Dreamy Blog Topics To Post List” are exactly what I needed! The instant (and free) access combined with the pretty script at the top of them, and their overall tailor-made design made these lists a must-have for me. And while the Dreamy Blog Topics List is still available for free as as download, you’ll have to shell out a little cash for the Never Ending To Do List, which is now only available for purchase, but well worth the cost.
