When talking about fishing tackle, you should have a good heart to heart with the fish you’re looking to reel in. Ask them about their lifestyle, where they’re from, what kind of diet they’re into, and other aspects of their daily life. Of course, we aren’t talking literally about having this conversation! You can find out about all of this crucial information without even phoning a fish.

How To Make Fishing Lures.

Why are all these questions important? It is because you won’t have any success at fishing unless you know what kind of prey you’re hunting, and know what kind of equipment you need to catch them. You see, fishing gear is very specific to the type of fish it’s meant to capture. Moreover, fishing gears and accessories would also require various lures specifically for various fish species. Just as fishing gears, there are also various types of lures to be used, depending on the type of fish to be captured - but that is another story.

There is different gear for fresh and saltwater fish. Equipment varies if you’re in still water, a slow moving river, or a class 5 rapids. Plus, you’ll need to know what season you’re fishing during, and what part of the world you’ll be in. And, yes, your gear needs to match the type of foods your fish like to eat.

Once you have this type of information for your next fishing trip, you can get down to buying the right fishing tackle. First, look for tackle that will balance your particular lures. For instance, heavy tackle with a light lure will prevent the lure from doing its job. The heavier your lure, the more weighty tackle you can use. A spinning tackle is recommended for beginners: it is easy to use, casts a mile, and drags excellently.

Tip! This might be the first time that the family is going to the lake. It will be a good idea to ask if there is a guide that will be able to direct the people to the best fishing site.

You can even consider using weights in some instances. In this case, be sure to keep them as distant from the lure as possible. And with the basic tackle rule mentioned above, try to avoid overweighing your lure with too many weights.

And of course, ask yourself a lot of questions when you’re on the market for new gear. Are you the kind of fishermen who likes to have all the finest gear, even if you won’t use it that much? Do you require a fishing tackle box that you’re proud to open in front of your friends? Lastly, what kind of diet are you into?

Tip! It is not good practice when fishing for trout to fish directly upstream so the flies, line, and leader will float directly over fish. The fisherman should make the cast from one side of the stream so the fly will only float over the fish.

The Grand River has won numerous conservation and management awards. It has almost 200 shoreline miles and is the largest river in Southern Ontario. It is one hour from Toronto or London with the 401 and 403 highways providing easy access. This short traveling distance allows urban fishermen to get up in the morning spend the day fishing and be in their own beds at night.

The Fly Fishing GuideBook. A Complete Step-By-Step Training Kit Filled With The Latest And Proven Fly Fishing Techniques.

Fishermen can choose to float, fly or spin cast, with all techniques offering the chance to experience a “fish on”. Sunday to Friday is the best time, because Saturdays often experience heavy weekend canoe/kayak traffic from paddlers exploring this unique river.

The combination of swifts and pools in the Grand offers the perfect trout habitation. The average depth is 2-3 feet, with deeper pools at eight feet. The rocky bottom is a boulder range of stones creating natural steelhead habitat. The food supply of minnows and crayfish make this river a “steelhead paradise”. To insure healthy fish populations, this section from Paris to Brantford is zoned as barb-less, bait-less, catch & release.

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible. Over 270 pages of carp fishing advice from the home of carp fishing.

For the fly fisherman the Grand River has lots of maneuvering space. The Grand is wide, putting distance between the fisherman and snagging trees. This is an excellent river to wade, but private ownership restricts easy access to many sections. Chest waders are recommended for positioning around the pools. All fishermen should use the waist-belts on the chest waders when wading because a fall in the fast swifts can quickly change a great time into a fatal ending.

A safer way to fish the Grand is with 14 ft platform rafts. They are very similar to a “clack” boat, but more stable and quiet. The platform deck space is about 64 sq ft allowing two people to fly fish, plus guide. The drift speed of these rafts offers numerous casting opportunities and the elevated platform position allows a better vision of the water-line. Platform rafts are for fishermen wishing to cover large distances with minimum wading. The Grand River Rafting Company has platform rafts available for guided fishing trips, but they are not available for self-rentals.

Tip! The favorite crab for crab fishing is the blue crab, which is called Callinectes sapidus scientifically. And like its name, the blue crab comes in shades of blue, olive-green, and red.

The steelhead trout caught range from 12 to 30 inches in length and their weight easily snaps poorly managed lines. The spectacular runs and pole-bending hurtles makes this rainbow trout a sportsman’s delight. Even the casual observer is amazed at the large pods of steelhead sitting on the bottom. An excellent observation area for viewing steelhead pods is along Whiteman’s Creek just above the Grand River. This section is now posted and permission must be gained from the Five Oaks Christian Centre.

Trout Fishing Secrets. Trout Fishing Secrets Revealed - How to Catch A Trout Everytime: When Spinner Fishing Your Favorite Stream Or River.

For fishermen visiting the Paris area accommodations, restaurants and shops offer excellent service and food. Lures, fly-tying material and fishing equipment can be obtained from “Big Catch” bait & tackle along the Grand River. As well, this fishing shop rents out equipment and tackle to visitors wishing to try a day’s fishing.

For accommodation and food, fishermen can choose from the beautifully restored 19th century Arlington Hotel to the rustic countryside River Ridge Bed & Breakfast. If looking for a different flavour in town, dinner at the southern-style “Camp 31″offers an excellent taste bud experience.

Fishing Secrets @ Short Stories. Learn The Secrets Of Fishing Success For Fun And Profit. Secrets That Every Fisherman Needs To Learn To Be Successfull.

The Grand is a unique river it has all the amenities nearby within a wilderness setting. A fisherman can choose to float or fly fish wade or drift spend the day or stay a night. Whatever the choice, steelhead fishing on the Grand River is something no one should miss.

Garth Pottruff grew up on the Grand River and has seen the fall steelhead trout population go from zero to many. He presently owns a half mile along the Grand near Whiteman’s Creek. This area has become a major fly fishing attraction, but the access restriction has led Garth & his son Chad to introducing platform rafts for better river access. They also are developing secluded rustic campsites located right on the Grand for fishermen wishing to overnight. For fishermen wishing a softer bed he has partnered with the River Ridge Bed and Breakfast located on the Grand River upstream of Paris.
He writes for the purpose of drawing people to discover an unknown “Grand Getaway” only minutes from Toronto, Ontario.

Fly fishing is one of those sports where you get out what you put in.
If you put in a genuine effort you will get lots of fun and excitement from the sport.
Anyone who takes up fly fishing must have patience, be willing to practice their cast and be willing to learn about their chosen sport.

You must be willing to learn new ideas and practice them, but not keep switching from one to another. Anyone doing this will not perfect anything, always changing one idea for another and not allowing getting anything right. The ones with knowledge about their tackle, the place they are fishing at and the fish they are trying to catch will have much more success than those who just turn up not knowing anything of what they are trying to do.

There are more than 10,000 different types of flies and to find the best one for the job can be trial and error. As a rule you use bright flies on a sunny day and dark coloured flies on a cloudy or overcast day.

Tip! If you plan to go crab fishing onshore, then the best time is when the tide is rising. For onshore crab fishing, you’ll need a dip net, long string and some type of bait, like eel, chicken necks, or small fish.

The green butt skunk fly is mainly black with a bright green piece of yarn, these flies are used a lot for Salmon but also used around the world with good effect.

Trout Fishing Basics. eBook for beginners.

The jock Scott is one of the best flies for most seasons and waters. This delicate fishing fly can take hours to make with lots of different materials involved.

The thunder and lightening is a deep orange, gold, brown and black, perfect for cloudy or dark days and cloudy waters. This is one of the most popular fishing flies for catching salmon today. These are just a few of the most popular fishing flies used but you do not have to stick with these, if you find a fly that works for you then great.

Dry fly fishing is when you cast your fly to a predetermined spot on the water and try to get the fish to attack the fly, but also trying to strike before the fish spits the fly back out.

Wet fly fishing lets the fly sink just under the surface and passes by the fish causing the fish to strike at the fly. The most common fish to catch with a fly are salmon, trout and most fresh water fish.

Below are some of the terms associated with fly fishing which may help you understand?
Pool an area of water where it is fast flowing and entering a deeper pool of water.
It offers good prospects of a variety of fish in the area where the water flows in.

Riffle an area where the fast flowing water is broken up by some solid object in the water, the area just behind the object in the water is often good as insects will settle here and so will the fish.

Tip! Hiring a fishing guide might be a great idea if you’re new to the area, even if you’re an expert fishermen yourself. You can hire a guide for your first day and he can show you where the fish are biting at that particular time, then you can strike it out on your own for the rest of vacation.

Dead water is as the name implies, very still with no current and not usually a good place to fish.

Some of the other places to find fish is where there is a shady area or vegetation growing out of the water.

How To Make Fishing Lures.

Now that fly-fishing has become a very popular pastime, and a very popular method of fishing all together is it any wonder why there are so many fly-fishing web sites? Fly-fishing is unlike any other form of fishing, and more people are now jumping on the bandwagon to show support for this wonderful hobby. Slower and much more premeditated than general angling for bass or pike, fly-fishing is a slow moving yet fluid form of fishing that is taking North America by storm.

For the reason of popularity, there are countless and thousands of fly-fishing websites online these days. These fly-fishing websites offer anything from flies, clothing, rod/reel combos, all the way to fly-fishing trips that can be booked online. More often than not, fly-fishing websites are a great way to find out what is hot in the fly-fishing industry. With new equipment and new products coming out monthly, it can be really hard to keep up with all of the new innovative products.

Tip! The favorite crab for crab fishing is the blue crab, which is called Callinectes sapidus scientifically. And like its name, the blue crab comes in shades of blue, olive-green, and red.

Fly-fishing websites offer reviews on products, articles on the latest trends, and links to many clubs and organizations that cater to nothing other than fly-fishing. Many of the newer fly-fishing websites offer forums or live chat, where and avid fly-fisherman can meet new and potential fishing partners and great friends that all love this great pastime. There have been a great number of fishermen, that have found links to groups and organizations that have given them new and exciting prospects on fishing grounds or techniques.

Tip! Do you know that seasonal patterns has a direct relationship with whether it is bass fishing season or not.

Anything that you could possibly need for a fly-fishing outing can be had from a fly-fishing website. These items can include flies, clothing, tackle, line, rods, reels, leaders, and tippets.

Much of the products that you will find on fly-fishing websites will be distributed directly from the manufacturer, and this will eliminate the higher cost as there is no middle man to suck up your money when not expected. Going through a reputable fly-fishing website also offers the customer the chance to find great deals and the heads up on new products that have not been released for sale in the retail stores yet. This would be considered a good deal, as you can be one of the first to try a revolutionary or exceptional gear or supplies for fly-fishing. Check out the fly-fishing websites today, and see exactly what you have been missing all along you will not be disappointed.

Tip! Do you know that seasonal patterns has a direct relationship with whether it is bass fishing season or not.

Experienced fishermen advice that if one wishes to have a good bite it is best to begin fishing two hours before sunrise or after sunset. This is particularly difficult, but an alarm clock can always act as your wake-up call. In addition, it is best if you set up and have ready a wet-bait half an hour before the sun rises. Keep in mind that anchoring or cooking bait need to be completed prior to sunset. That is because cooking during your evening fishing can be very hazardous and because bait has to cool off before it is ready for use. One of the reasons to be ready at least thirty minutes before dark or sunrise is that fish typically feed shallower during this mirror bite time and you can catch them easier as they are only about thirty feet down the sea’s surface. Experts point out that the twilight minutes can be very productive for fishermen.

Tip! Check your line just above the lure frequently when fishing crankbaits around rocks, gravel, stumps, and other hard obstructions. They can quickly fray your line.

To enjoy good and fast action, regardless if you are fishing in saltwater or freshwater, try to fish around piers that have lights on their end. Since fish are attracted by the beams of light that come through the surface in various sea depths, most fishing excursions have a happy ending when they occur around lights on buoys or piers.

The Ultimate Fishing Trip GuideBook! How To Plan, Organize and Catch More Fish On Your Next Fishing Trip.

Remember to use very large dry flies, oversized streamers, wet flies, and nymphs, if you are interested in catching the active feeding fish out there. Night-feeding is easier when the bait is large enough for fish to locate and you should remember to draw the flies and other bait slowly along the water’s surface in a jerking motion to help attract trout. Of course, you should bring extra live bait along and keep your lure inside the boat or water, safely contained.

Trout Fishing Basics. eBook for beginners.

While fishing, try to keep yourself on alert for signs of feeding fish. Be always prepared that during night time you will be able normally to hear the fish feeding themselves before you witness their swirls or splashes. Remember to chuck your lure to the spot you think holds the fish as soon as possible after hearing or seeing fish break the surface. Since they do have trouble locating a lure during night time, make repeated casts wherever you believe that there is a chance fish circulate.

Trout Fishing Secrets. Trout Fishing Secrets Revealed - How to Catch A Trout Everytime: When Spinner Fishing Your Favorite Stream Or River.

If you are about to fish in deep-water conditions, then remember to use a bait-caster in combination with a long graphite rod that has a lot of backbone. Check frequently your bow to detect subtle strikes as the bait drops. This way you will be able to catch as many fish as possible and will save you the anguish if you have made the right choice to go night fishing.

The downsides of night fishing have to do with the fact that you have to limit your group from socializing and partying while fishing. In case you cannot limit the noise, fish will not approach your area and you will not be able to catch any. Moreover, try avoid bringing more than two people inside the boat-especially if it is small-and avoid taking children during night fishing as it is more dangerous for them to get scared and fall in the water.

Tip! Some fishing lodges advertise a certain amount for a few days by the lake. It is advisable to ask if there are any hidden charges.

Finally, experts attest that apart from the sea main lake points may offer excellent possibilities for successful night fishing trip adventures, especially during the summer months, as the fish are inactive during the day due to the hot temperatures and will suspend in deep water which will leave to move closer to the surface during the night that the water becomes colder. In addition fishermen point out that your bow’s color and weight can also advance or limit your efforts so pay special attention when selecting the right equipment as these make all the difference in the world while you are fishing in a lake of in the sea.

Tip! Use a wire cross-locking snap when fishing crank plugs. It allows you to change lures quickly and enables the bait to vibrate more freely.

One of the most luxurious and well-known fishing accommodations in Canada is in the province of Ontario. The Kesagami Wilderness Lodge, located on Kesagami Lake in the northern part of Ontario, is a four star fly-in fishing accommodation. Being a fly-in location means that the only way to reach this place is by airplane, making it a truly secluded and wilderness filled area. Kesagami Lake is perfect for trophy Northern Pike fishing, because it’s relatively shallow and contains a number of weed filled bays. Fish here have been known to reach as big as 50 inches long and 30 pounds in weight, making this a truly world class destination for Northern Pike. With American Plan-style accommodations (three meals a day included in your stay) as well as recreation rooms and other amenities, a stay here at the Kesagami Wilderness is a great choice.

My Ice Fishing Secrets. Earn 40% people download it and pay.

Another great place to stay at in Ontario is the Lake Obabika Lodge. Canada’s only four diamond fishing accommodation (rated by the American Automobile Association/Canadian Automobile Association), this beautiful setting offers not only great fishing, but many other activities as well. From wine tastings to wilderness hikes and even a feng shui class, this lodge is a perfect destination for families that might have different vacation tastes. Fishing in the area includes Northern Pike, trout and bass.

There are many places to choose from for your Canada trip, and picking a location that will suit all of your needs (such as fishing guides, a great lake to fish on and even included meals) can make your trip very memorable. Fishing in Canada is a great way to return to nature.

How To Make Fishing Lures.

When fly fishing you need a calm temperament, be able to switch off and keep repeating the same technique without getting frustrated. This is half the battle, the other half is the right equipment. Of coarse you need sun glasses so you don’t have to squint from the sun and maybe a hat but most importantly the tackle makes all the difference.

When choosing a rod, should you go for a modern composite graphite rod or an old fashioned bamboo rod? Should you choose a rod for one particular water or setting or go with a multi purpose rod. All these factors will come into the equation when choosing a rod to cast your flies. Talking of flies, this is another area where choice is important. Do you go for a dry fly or go for an insect replica. The colour of the fly could also be important, is there a colour for morning and a different one for night.

Tip! The favorite crab for crab fishing is the blue crab, which is called Callinectes sapidus scientifically. And like its name, the blue crab comes in shades of blue, olive-green, and red.

Another thing to think about is weather you want to learn how to tie your own flies or are you better off buying them already done.

The choice of rod and fly could also affect the decision as to what line you will use.
The type of line you use may be also be influenced by what fish you are fishing for, larger fish will need a heavier line as appose to smaller fish. You will have to decide on weather you want your line to float or sink, weather your fish feed on the surface or on the bottom.

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible. Over 270 pages of carp fishing advice from the home of carp fishing.

Some anglers are quite happy to use a bomber or swim feeder, just cast their line out and relax on the riverbank and wait. Fly fishing on the other hand is much more a hands on approach; you need to be fully concentrated on the task ahead of you. Tackle decisions can make the difference between having a fantastic day and having a ordinary day.

Most fly fishermen take it very seriously; it takes patience, dedication and practice to become a good fly fisherman. Choosing the right rod can be very tricky, with lots of different people having different ideas. Below are a few choices to help you.

Tip! Nomad Fly Fishing Journals A little self-promotion here. Nomad Fly Fishing Journals are compact writing journals that let anglers keep notes on their efforts.

Fibreglass- A large number of rods these days are made from fibreglass, whether they are for fly fishing or regular fishing. The main downside of fibreglass rods is that they are heavier than graphite or bamboo rods which in turn could make your arm tired at the end of the day. Despite this they are able to take a lot of punishment which makes them a popular choice.

Trout Fishing Basics. eBook for beginners.

Bamboo- Many of the older fishermen will not here a bad word said about these rods. Of coarse this is just someone’s opinion, but they were one of the first rods to be made and are still being made today. There is a lot that goes into making a bamboo rod and for this reason they can tend to be one of the most expensive.

Tip! Dress for the occasion. If you’re ice fishing, don’t forget thermal underwear and insulated footgear.

Graphite- These tend to be quite stiff but that doesn’t mean they are not effective.
These rods give good flexibility and are quite strong. they give good performance and they can vary in price difference and quality.

Reels are another important piece of equipment, the abel fly reel is considered one of the best around. A lot of parts are interchangeable from one reel to another making this a good choice. Also it does not matter if you are left or right handed as they can be converted easily from one to another.

As many fishermen agrees to and know, smallmouth bass fishing is one of the biggest fishing challenges pound for pound. While the much bigger largemouth bass is relatively easy to reel in, the smallmouth bass is no such easy task to say the least.

Unlike largemouth bass fishing, smallmouth bass fishing entails careful use of lures and careful and fierce fighting. Since smallmouth bass jump, dive, and dance and try to make a run for it, it isn’t quite as simple to reel them in without risk of losing your lure, or they can even cause your line to break.

The Ultimate Fishing Trip GuideBook! How To Plan, Organize and Catch More Fish On Your Next Fishing Trip.

Also, unlike other species of black bass, smallmouth bass is mostly done in freshwater lakes and ponds many of which were populated with by fishing associations for the only purpose of gaining an interest in smallmouth bass fishing.

While smallmouth bass are located in North America, fishing associations on other continents are starting to populate lakes and ponds with this species, since it is well known for being such an interesting catch. Some of the effects of these population efforts have lead to declines of other fish that are within the area or habitat.

While smallmouth bass fishing is done almost exclusively for sport, some anglers also set out on smallmouth bass fishing expeditions for the purpose of catching bass to eat. Many anglers and seafood lovers say that smallmouth bass has a much more refined and delicate flavor than its much bigger counterpart, the largemouth bass.

Tip! Check your line just above the lure frequently when fishing crankbaits around rocks, gravel, stumps, and other hard obstructions. They can quickly fray your line.

But whatever your reason for smallmouth bass fishing are, you wont want to leave unprepared for this notably tough battle. You will want to equip yourself with a fish finder to start with, so that you can properly locate lakes and nests.

Secondly, you will want to purchase bait such as grubs, natural color worm lures, and some jigheads. Smallmouth bass only weigh up to 12 pounds at most, which means that you wont have to worry about using a heavy duty rod. In fact, you will want to use something you can move more approiately to merge with the fish’s movements. Hopefully Ill see you out there. Regards, John

Bass have been known to eat pray up to half there own length in size but must be narrower than the fishes own mouth. Bass will jump quickly at anything they think they can eat but can just as easily spit food out that they don’t like and for this reason you must have the correct fly with the hook in the right position to help catch the fish.
Some of the best flies to fish with are listed below.

Swimming Frog. The swimming frog as the name implies is made to imitate the frog as it swims across the water. These flies which are mainly green work well where there are often lots of frogs around naturally and are made of deer hair.

Matuka Sculpin. These flies are used to catch fish in streams or waters with weeds in available in olive and sometimes a gold colour they need to sink quite quickly as the fish eat these flies on or around the bottom.

Tip! This might be the first time that the family is going to the lake. It will be a good idea to ask if there is a guide that will be able to direct the people to the best fishing site.

Deer Hair Popper. Sometimes known as the original fishing flies as years ago native Americans put together feathers and hair to make a fishing fly to attract the bass. The fly is ment to imitate a bug caught on the surface of the water and attract the fish which are a few feet below the surface of the water.

The best time to fish for bass is when the water temperature is just right, usually around 68 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. With the right weather, tackle and some luck you will have a very enjoyable day.

Fly fishing can be fun in the right company. You can see who can catch the biggest fish, the most different sorts of fish or just relax on your own for an afternoon. With friends you can find out different tips, tricks and techniques which work for different people and different fish.

Tip! Check your line just above the lure frequently when fishing crankbaits around rocks, gravel, stumps, and other hard obstructions.

Long Lost Fly Fishing Secrets. Discover original tips and techniques from early fly fishing masters and classics.

Some things in life are considered timeless; Peerless Fly Reels are no exception to the rule. These fly reels have long been associated with the finest of quality when it comes to fly-fishing gear. There are many different models that are associated with the Peerless fly reel name, all of these models incorporate the latest of technology and the oldest of traditions to forge what is thought to be one of the finest reels money can buy.

Some of the great features that these reels offer are oil impregnated bronze bearings, which are a wonderful feature that allows for the bearings to stay lubricated long after the bearing itself runs dry. These bearings are super tough and will easily provide a lifetime of use. The difference between roller, or ball bearings and these fine bearings is that the elements of water, sand, and debris do not wear the bearings down over time making for bearing changes and perhaps more costly repairs later.
Another of the great features that come with the reel is the centerless shaft, which is made of stainless steel. When we speak of centerless, this means that the shaft was machined to such tolerances that there is absolutely no bend or arc to the shaft at all. This is a perfectly shaped stainless steel shaft that could not get any straighter. What this does is give the Peerless fly reel a smooth transition and reel effect, making this an ideal tool for any angler.

Tip! This might be the first time that the family is going to the lake. It will be a good idea to ask if there is a guide that will be able to direct the people to the best fishing site.

The Peerless fly reel is made from anodized materials, and is safe from corrosion and rust. They are made with a non-glare finish that does not repel light from the sun into the water and alert fish of your presence. This is a timeless technique and it has given this fly reel a very aged yet expensive appearance and charm that separates them from all others on the market. Finally we address the great adaptability of this fly reel. Not only is this a very well made and respected fishing tool, it is very versatile as well. No longer are you confined to using a solely right handed reel or left handed reel, when it comes to Peerless fly reels there are no boundaries. A simple flip of the reel converts from left handed to right or back again. This makes the Peerless fly reel one of the premiere reel in the industry and it shows a level of quality and dedication only available from this brand.

In this article, I will try to give you a list of the best liquids to use when fishing for carp. Everyone has different ideas as to which is their favourite but I hope to give you some choices.

Ming Oil.

This liquid is a ruby, fishy blend and is considered to be one of the best warm water carp attractors when splashed over any sort of pellets to add real pulling power. Its also good in any boil mix, use 20-30 ml to per 1 kilo of dry mix.

Tip! Do you know that seasonal patterns has a direct relationship with whether it is bass fishing season or not.

Marmite.

Like the saying goes, you either love it or you hate it, well carp seem to love it. This is salty and very rich in vitamin B and they do seem to like it. Use between 15-30 ml with 6 eggs in a boil mix, sometimes warming the jar makes it easier to work with. Beware your bait may soften quicker in the pond, I also use dog biscuits soaked in marmite when fishing on the surface.

Long Lost Fly Fishing Secrets. Discover original tips and techniques from early fly fishing masters and classics.

Corn Steep Liquor.

This is one of the biggest corn steep liquors or CSL is a brown thick liquid made during glucose extraction from maize. You can use this in a boil mix, pour it neat over ground bait or splash it over pellets. There are different qualities around and prices but try to buy one that’s not been watered down to much as it looses its effectiveness.

Liquid Molasses.

Liquid molasses can come in many different strengths and sweetness’s. It can range from top quality to a bitter black strap molasses. It’s very thick, sticky and tastes a bit like sugar that’s been burnt. This liquid is very cheap and does not sound exciting which is perhaps why more anglers don’t use it, but I find it quite good. Use it in a boil mix at 15 ml with six eggs or try it direct on pellets or something else.

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible. Over 270 pages of carp fishing advice from the home of carp fishing.

Squirrel Dip.

Squirrel dip is a blend of several concentrated extracts and liquid foods. It is very reliable of getting a bite off a carp, whether it is in the warmer or colder months.
This is good whether you use it in a mix or as a dip. You can only get it through
Yateley Angling Centre or Tackle Box.

By using these liquids for carp fishing it has been known to catch carp up to 40lbs in weight but you must be sure to have the right tackle to land these big fish.

What type of fisherman are you? Are you satisfied go out and drop your fishing line and be totally unconcerned about if you catch anything or not? Is the time that you spend with your family, friends or even by your self enjoying nature what your trip is really all about? If you don’t caught anything that’s fine-you can always stop at the fish shop on the way home, but it would be nice if you caught something. Or do you feel like your trip’s been ruined because you didn’t caught anything, and go home frustrated. Or is fishing how you make your living, either by catching fish or taking customers out to fish? If you take a customer out to do some deep sea fishing, it would be much better to bring home a happy customer with his catch, who could be possibly a repeat customer or tells his friends about how great his trip was bringing you additional work. A frustrated customer will think twice about using your services again and when planning his next trip, might go elsewhere and may be steering other potential customers away from you. What if there was a way to make sure you go where the fish are? What if there was a way to guarantee that you would catch your limit, to be able to ensure that your customers will go home happy and raving about your great service.

Tip! The favorite crab for crab fishing is the blue crab, which is called Callinectes sapidus scientifically. And like its name, the blue crab comes in shades of blue, olive-green, and red.

With GPS technology it is now possible to go where the fish are and to remember the spot so you can relocate it. The other good thing about using a GPS while on the water is safety. You can enter the spot where you put your boat in the water in the memory of your GPS unit. Most GPS units hold at least 500 landmarks or areas where you want to get to. If you run into fog or bad weather you should be able to find your way back. Also if you stay out longer than expected you can find your way back in the dark. If you run into an emergency while on the water, you can call someone and let them know your coordinates, and then they could find you. If someone falls overboard a GPS unit can pinpoint the exact area where the incident happened and helping rescue crews with their rescue. This allows you to enjoy your day and not worry about getting back to land safely.

Tip! If you plan to go crab fishing onshore, then the best time is when the tide is rising. For onshore crab fishing, you’ll need a dip net, long string and some type of bait, like eel, chicken necks, or small fish.

A chart plotter GPS with a map chip can give you your position relative to land features, water depth, and harbor entrances. Using a GPS with a water depth can allow you to follow the bottom looking for fish. It is also possible to let others know about a spot that you have found by using GPS coordinates.

Often people like to fish around a wreck, with a GPS unit you can enter the location of the wrecks to be able to find them easily. Plus knowing where a wreck is only part of the scenario, you need to know how deep that wreck is and if there are any areas you need to avoid. Often a fishing trip starts out before daylight, with a GPS you can pinpoint where you are going.

Tip! Use a wire cross-locking snap when fishing crank plugs. It allows you to change lures quickly and enables the bait to vibrate more freely.

No matter what your intent is when you go fishing. A GPS can enhance that experience.

How To Make Fishing Lures.

Most anglers think big when hunting lunker muskie, but if you want to catch more muskie think smaller baits and tackle. I caught my biggest muskellunge while fishing walleye with a plastic worm in September. More often than can be considered coincidental people catch a lunge while fishing other species. Most anglers look to heavy tackle, large baits and trolling as the way to catch muskies. Personally I become bored or just tired of trolling all the time.

My Ice Fishing Secrets. Earn 40% people download it and pay.

Now one of my most successful tactics used especially in the fall is used for fishing large walleye and at the same time muskellunge. I use medium size tackle and large walleye baits especially jigs. Fishing weed lines, drop offs and shoals as you would for walleyes will also attract as many lunge as walleyes. The first time I realised this I did have some success for large walleyes and had just caught and released a nice 7 pounder that was followed to the boat by a large muskie.

The only change I made was to make sure I was using wire leads and good stong swivels. Using 6 inch plastics worked just fine and the result was a fun great day of fishing. In all the two of us caught and released 9 walleyes from 5 to 8 pounds plus 5 muskie all in the 15 to 20 pound range. Although not the lunker; that most anglers look for. But it proved to me that these preditors can be caught on lighter tackle and smaller baits.

Tip! If you plan to go crab fishing onshore, then the best time is when the tide is rising. For onshore crab fishing, you’ll need a dip net, long string and some type of bait, like eel, chicken necks, or small fish.

Conventional thinking tells us that in the fall; the remaining muskellunge, are large, therefore bigger is better. However, my experience is that smaller baits are often the perfect morsel for that elusive luncker.

Equipment And Presentation

When I say smaller baits I am referring to large or oversized walleyes jigs. As mentioned this approach evolved on a body of water with a large population of large walleye. Now using the idea that big baits means big fish or walleye. I began tossing 5 to 6 inch plastic shad-bodied jigs along weed lines. I landed a number of big walleye, but to my surprise, the muskie were also going for the same bait. The big plastic jigs became an important part of my muskie fishing arsenal. All large plastics work just fine.

Colour seems less important than creating a real flash. Two-toned baits, mainly dark and light combinations, create more flash when drawn through the water. Adding some metal flake also ads that extra flash. Just experiment and you will find a combination that will work for you and get that strike you want.

Tip! Local Specialty Fly Okay, this will take a bit of effort on your part. Every fishing area has a specialty fly that is known to have fish leaping out of the water before casting even begins.

I generally use ball-head or stand-up-head jigs with medium gauge wire hooks. It’s surprising how well a single hook can handle even a large fish. Often you will hook the fish in the gristly flesh in the corner of the mouth. Jigs also make landing and releasing muskie easier; there are then no large treble hooks flopping around to damage the fish or you. Deeply hooked fish can be released by clipping off the hook with pliers.

Single strand wire leaders seem to work best especially along weed beds. I use a hay-wire-twist to attach the wire to the jig head at one end and a small swivel at the other. Watch for kinks in the wire, but these leaders are more weedless than the standard models because of the snaps and swivels.

Tip! Use a wire cross-locking snap when fishing crank plugs. It allows you to change lures quickly and enables the bait to vibrate more freely.

I prefer a medium action 6-foot spinning rod and a reel spooled with 12 to 14 pound test monofilament. A medium-heavy bait-casting outfit also does the trick, in both cases make sure the drag is working properly.

Even if you prefer the conventional approach, keep a lighter outfit close at hand for when muskie follow, but don’t hit, or they strike short. Using lighter tackle and a jig is also a good approach when there are two of you fishing muskie. One angler throws conventioinal baits, and the other throwing jigs. Then you are always ready to react to follows and misses.

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible. Over 270 pages of carp fishing advice from the home of carp fishing.

Vary the speed of your retrieve when jigging up muskie. I have had luck in late fall, by using violent rip-jigging motion. It’s tiring, but effective. Experiment and you will find something that works for you.

When battling a muskellunge on light tackle, be careful not to fight it to exhaustion, thereby increasing the chance of delayed death if you plan on catch and release. Ideally, you should release a fish by simply grasping the single hook with a pair of needle nosed pliers, while it’s in the water at the side of the boat. Cut off the hook if the fish is hooked deeply. Muskie fisheries are a fragile resource, so do your best to release that muskie no worse for wear. Now next season that muskie will be ready to fight another day and make that day a great day for another angler.

There are different kinds of fishing. You can fish for sport if you want to keep it and put it on the wall as a prize. You can catch fish and throw them back. You can catch fish to eat. You need the proper supplies, some know how and good company.

There are different styles of fishing and each one uses different equipment. There is bait casting, spinning, pole and line, spincasting, and flyfishing. You need to choose between different types of poles, rods, hooks, and bait. Depending on what type of water you will be in, saltwater, freshwater, or ice you will choose a pole with different types of reels and line spools. Depending on what type of fish you will be catching, you have to choose from a variety of hook sizes. You also can choose between various kinds of sinkers and bobbers, to keep your line steady in the water so the fish aren’t startled away. You also have to keep in mind what kind of fish you will be trying to catch.

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible. Over 270 pages of carp fishing advice from the home of carp fishing.

If you are going to fish at a specific location and don’t know what fish you are looking for, it can make it more difficult to catch the fish. Using certain types of bait will attract certain types of fish. You should learn which fish are in the type of water you will be fishing in and what kind of bait they will respond to. There are also different lures available. A lure is what a person fishing uses to get the attention of the fish not scaring it away, but drawing it closer.

There is certainly a lot to learn about fishing. All states have different regulations regarding this. Before you go fishing, you should find out if the place you would like to fish allows fishing. Sometimes, you might be required to show your fishing license in order to be permitted to fish.

Tip! Check your line just above the lure frequently when fishing crankbaits around rocks, gravel, stumps, and other hard obstructions. They can quickly fray your line.

You should take an expert along with you to help you learn the skills and local regulations. This is also a safety precaution, as it is a very good idea to bring a partner along with you just in case something goes wrong. Even though fishing itself is not a dangerous sport, there are some mishaps that are possible. Pack a first aid kit, and always wear a personal floatation device. If you are wading, you need to know how deep the water is and you should wear long boots and protective pants.

My Ice Fishing Secrets. Earn 40% people download it and pay.

Fishing is a fun way to kick back and enjoy yourself. Sometimes you can even caste your line, and set it down and read a book, or tap a nap. When there is a nibble, it will be sure to get your attention. You can catch a whole new hobby, hook, line and sinker!

Tip! Some fishing lodges advertise a certain amount for a few days by the lake. It is advisable to ask if there are any hidden charges.

A recent conversation centered around “extreme fishing.” It started with one’s comment about these “wild men,” somewhere along the Mississippi, who would stick their hands in submerged traps to let a catfish try and swallow their hands then pull the greedy catfish up and flip in into a boat. We all agreed it was pretty extreme to stick one’s hand in the mouth of anything as large as the “cats” they were pulling up!

Then, of course, the conversation turned to local fare–kayak fishing in the deep blue free-dive spear fishing for big tuna and wahoo in open ocean trying to tag a marlin while it’s thrashing a bill and hook alongside the boat. In this congenial arena of fishing tales one-upsmanship, all of the well-known fishing venues for which Hawaii has been noted were discussed except one which I reflected on after everyone had left.

For all of the fishing Hawaii offers, few are so uniquely tied to the islands as slide-baiting. Ask any local fisherman to name a single prized fish here in Hawaii and many of the responses will come back an “ulua” (oo loo’ ah.) The Hawaiian name for a trevally weighing over ten pounds, the ulua is the largest of all Hawaiian fish caught from the shore. Growing well in excess of a hundred pounds, ulua are fierce fighters and popular table fare as well.

Tip! Local Specialty Fly Okay, this will take a bit of effort on your part. Every fishing area has a specialty fly that is known to have fish leaping out of the water before casting even begins.

Among the most popular environs for ulua are the deep drops that lie off of many of the islands’ rocky coasts. And while the underwater topography might be perfect for fish, the anglers wanting to fish these domains are faced with some precarious fishing spots often characterized by steep ledges, sharp rocks, and threatening waves.

The volcanic origin of the islands in which lava flows added to the coastline over the years in which the islands were formed created a miles of shorelines which end abruptly with a drop into the ocean. In these areas, it’s not uncommon to find immediate water depths of sixty feet or more within an easy casting distance. These areas, often ten feet or more above the water, are the haunts of Hawaii’s slide-bait fishermen!

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible. Over 270 pages of carp fishing advice from the home of carp fishing.

As a youngster, I was always fascinated by a white marker on an overlook along a highway on Oahu’s east side. I had learned that it memorialized a fisherman who had drowned after being washed off the ledge by large waves. Looking over the rocky coast which jutted anywhere from three to ten feet above the water, it was easy to see that getting back on to land after falling into the water was pretty close to impossible on a calm day let alone at night (the preferred time for this type of fishing) and when there are any waves to speak of.

Tip! Dress for the occasion. If you’re ice fishing, don’t forget thermal underwear and insulated footgear.

Yet despite the obvious risks, slide-baiting is the venue of choice for many of Hawaii’s top shore fishermen many of whom have achieved membership in the 100# club, an elite group of anglers who have caught an ulua of a hundred pounds or more.

Bass Fishing System.

Slide-baiting starts off with the largest shore fishing tackle you will come across. The poles are heavy-duty twelve to fourteen-foot casting poles equipped with conventional reels like the Penn 4-0’s and 6-0’s loaded with 50# - 75# test line. The rig is comprised of weights between 8-10 ounces connected to the main line with a large ring and weaker line intended to break away when the fish is hooked or when the line needs to be retrieved. Generally, a slide baiter will cast his line out once at the beginning of the session. Since each member of a group might have three to four poles making for a pretty crowded fishing perch, the only time lines are reeled back in is when a fish hits or when it’s time to leave.

Fishing Secrets @ Short Stories. Learn The Secrets Of Fishing Success For Fun And Profit. Secrets That Every Fisherman Needs To Learn To Be Successfull.

During the session, the fishermen slide their chosen bait down the line with a special leader. A hook is fastened to a stiff wire leader with a pigtail swivel on the other end allowing it to be attached to the main line. The bait slides down as far as the ring at the end of the main line preventing the bait from touching the bottom. Baits are slid down throughout the session without the fishermen ever having to worry about checking their bait or risking entanglement with other lines.

When a fish is caught, the prospect of bringing it up on the rocks from waters some ten feet or more below can be pretty tricky. A special gaff hook with an open ring and rope is slid down the main line down to the fish which is gaffed by jerking up from under the fish then pulling it up with the rope. It’s a pretty slick technique that takes a bit of practice especially with a fish that weighs in at fifty to a hundred pounds and more.

Tip! The favorite crab for crab fishing is the blue crab, which is called Callinectes sapidus scientifically. And like its name, the blue crab comes in shades of blue, olive-green, and red.

Most of us will never experience fighting a hundred pound ulua from a rocky ledge but a look at any of the trophies these skilled anglers have brought up might convince you that this is a pretty extreme form of fishing. It’s a form of fishing you’ll seldom hear about but is going on in Hawaii at some awfully precarious spots on almost any moonless night!

They can quickly fray your line.

This is one of my favorite times of year to fish for bass. Why? Well, the water temperatures are cooling off, the bass are coming back in the shallows and I have hooked a lot of damn nice bass in the fall.

We all know during the summer when the water gets hot, bass are less likely to be in the shallows except in the early morning and toward evening. The same isn’t true in the fall. Once the water temperatures drop, the bass can be in shallow water any time of day. This makes for a little easier fishing.

The Fly Fishing GuideBook. A Complete Step-By-Step Training Kit Filled With The Latest And Proven Fly Fishing Techniques.

This is also one of my favorite times to use topwater lures. I use big topwater lures in the fall and have caught some really nice fish. One of my favorites to use is the Meadow Mouse. While they don’t manufacture this lure anymore, I did get a couple of them on eBay at a pretty good price. If you have been reading this blog, you’ll know why I paid so much for them. If not, look in the archives of this blog.

One of the biggest fish I have ever hooked in Ohio was in the fall on topwater. I know it had to be over 10 pounds. Since, I have a 12 pound 14 ounce on my wall, I know what a 10 pound bass looks like. While a 10 pounded is more common in Florida, one this size is Ohio is pretty rare in comparison.

I like to use a buzzbait in the fall too. Especially early fall when the water the high 70’s-low 80’s range. While you can use a buzzbait anytime the water temps are 50+, I prefer these temperature a little higher.

Tip! This might be the first time that the family is going to the lake. It will be a good idea to ask if there is a guide that will be able to direct the people to the best fishing site.

Know what a prop bait looks like? You know, the ones with a propellor on one end or both ends. I have had excellent success with these in the fall. Matter of fact, when I was a kid, I caught the biggest bass of my life. My brother had caught a carp and my bass was a lot bigger than his carp. My dad who was in his 70’s at the time said it was the biggest bass he had ever seen. Of course, no one cared to weight it, but they did take the time to eat it and even then it bothered me for them to eat a bass and I wasn’t even a teenage yet.

Carp Fishing Secrets. The carp angler’s bible.
I use these prop baits a little different than most people and again, if you get my newsletter, you know what I’m talking about. I have my own technique for topwater lures. When you do fish topwater, fish the lure slower than usual, especially when the water temps gets below 70 or less.

When I was a kid, a way long time ago, there was this old man who fished Buckeye Lake and caught more bass than anyone I knew at the time. His bass fishing technique was to fish boat docks. His lures were all beat up, most of them missing paint and some were even bare wood from hitting them on the docks so many times. His bass fishing tip to me was to fish boat docks and to fish them thoroughly.

Tip! Dress for the occasion. If you’re ice fishing, don’t forget thermal underwear and insulated footgear.

Boat docks produce shade and bass feel secure in low light areas. Docks also provide a place for bass to ambush their prey. Sometimes when you see rod holders and lights at a dock there’s a chance there’s some kind of structure there too. Maybe a brushpile or rocks that the owner has produced. Use your trolling motor to get close to the dock or just drift up to it and flip or pitch your lure.

Some good lures for fishing for bass at boat docks are a jig, worm, crankbait and spinnerbait. Of course, you want to throw as far back under the dock as you can but make sure on the retrieve that the lure bumps the dock’s post as it goes by them. The erratic behavior of the lure sometimes produces a strike. If you’re using a crankbait, you can bend the eye and make it run under the dock or use a coffin-bill lure. While the lure doesn’t run true it does get farther under the boat dock where the bass are.

Tip! This might be the first time that the family is going to the lake. It will be a good idea to ask if there is a guide that will be able to direct the people to the best fishing site.

Boat docks are one of my favorite places to bass fish and apparently the bass like them too.
