David Wright's jersey, laid our for his fellow All Stars to sign in Anaheim. I was standing next to the jersey when David came around and asked me "Do I sign my own Jersey" I said "yes, why not". I may hate the Mets but David was easily one of the nicest guys I met at the All Star Game - very thankful for receiving a gift Dell laptop.

One of the most obvious things in walking through Calgary is the different layers of construction representing the various oil booms that city has experienced in the past 40 years. The current noticeable trend in the more residential parts of the city is a somewhat over-the-top retro modern look. In this case, a relatively standard looking new condo sky rise had several floors covered in colorful glass.

As you may have noticed in my recent posts, it’s been an interesting time for me lately. It started, innocently enough, with some VIP pit access to the NASCAR race in Sonoma and stretched to a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend time in the locker rooms during the MLB All Star Game. Then, I left Dell and three days later joined Getty Images.

To cap off this hectic time, I headed out to Calgary to get a chance to meet all the good people at iStockphoto.com. If you haven’t used iStock yet, you should really check out their incredible selection of micro stock images, footage and audio. While my focus is mostly business, as a part-time photographer, I was particularly impressed with the incredible level of respect, care and attention that they provide to their great contributors. I look forward to working closely with everyone in the iStock family to help continue growing their business.

As for this photo, it’s the Calgary Tower, which dominated the Calgary skyline when it opened in 1967 but with subsequent oil booms is quietly being obstructed by more and more taller office buildings.

Continuing my story from previous images, I was stationed in the National League signing room where I was giving away Dell laptops to the players - an official gift from Dell and MLB.

The signing room starts off as boxes of baseballs and bats that the players sign which are then given to the Commissioner, staff, partners, etc. But as the day progresses, players ask club house attendant to grab some of their jerseys and bats so they too can get autographed memorabilia from the All-Star Game. Eventually, minutes before game time, we had to shut the room down (Albert Pujols starting hitting balls in the cage and it got quite scary).

I was delighted to meet and chat with the players, many lined up in this photos. Some, like Josh Johnson, literally sat down and autographed every single item. And almost all were very thankful for the laptop.

During the All-Star Game pregame ceremonies, hundreds of people held together the largest flag I've ever seen - covered the whole outfield.

My job at the All-Star Game was to handout gift laptops to the players courtesy of my employer Dell. I was stationed at the signing room which in the case of the National League was in an underground batting cage off the locker room.

Just returned from the MLB All-Star Game in Anaheim where I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with the players in the signing room and locker room areas of the ballpark.

This is a photo of a box of baseballs, signed by Charlie Manuel and the NL coaches.

The Holy Saviour Cathedral in Aix-en-Provence, France is a Roman Catholic cathedral and the seat of the Archbishop of Aix. It is built on the site of the 1st century Roman forum of Aix. Built and re-built from the 12th until the 19th century, it includes Romanesque, Gothic and Neo-Gothic elements, as well as Roman columns and parts of the baptistery from a 6th century Christian church. It is a national monument of France.

A San Francisco 4th

You would think that by now I would be used to 4th of July in San Francisco. No matter where I go and what I try, the fog will always block the fireworks. I never learn.

This year, I drove around trying to find the right place and decided to climb up Corona Heights, where a hundred or so people had settled on every rock. We all knew better but we hoped, just hoped it would work out. Of course, it didn't. With the exception of a few home made flares in the Mission, we couldn't see at thing. Determined not to walk away empty handed, I turned the camera on the people, all sitting, waiting and hoping that something would change. We never learn.

Headed up to Sonoma to watch the NASCAR Toyota 350 at Infineon Raceway. The great people at JMI set us up with hot passes and provided us with VIP treatment -- from watching the early part of the race at the UPS hospitality tent to catching the second half sitting behind the Crew Chief atop the UPS pit

Thanks again to Jim, Pat and Courtney from JMI. Lindsay and I will never forget our first NASCAR race.
