Lately, I haven't had much time for my blog and it seems like I won't have that opportunity for a pretty long time, therefore, I've come to the conclusion to stop blogging via MojoBeat. I will still continue to blog, but to a less frequent amount. I've decided to take on a collaborative photo project with DB, who I think is a real good photographer for someone who's only taking it as a hobby. Find us here at Click'n'Roll. Lastly, I would like to thank you all for your support in the past years :)

Christmas 2012

2012-12-27T01:22:00.004+00:00

Merry Xmas everybody! It hasn't snowed here yet but the weather had been so cold until recently that you could see vague ice sculptures of almost anything...

And by anything, I mean even spider-webs! How cool is that!

Well, not for the poor spiders of course.

Foohd!

I found the new mist system (above) at Morrisons pretty cool. Keep those veggies fresh.

And ohmygosh, we met Shiv from The Wanted at Selfridges while shopping for Xmas!

Really kind to let us take pictures.

Candies for Christmas... and fruits. Very tropical no?

We went to a restaurant in Chinatown and I tried wonton soup for the first time in my life, t'was goood.

And then I got this in my fortune cookie which was really funny considering my first love ever was an anime character. Yes, not a human being but a drawing. His name is Sanosuke Sagara hahaah. Well, that's what you get for letting a cookie read your fortune hahaah but I'm glad that Sano hasn't forgotten me lol.

Well then guys, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you, once again, a very happy Xmas and new year. Happy holidays!

Visit to the Diamond Synchrotron

2012-12-27T00:46:00.000+00:00

I recently had the fabulous opportunity to go to the Diamond Light Source at Didcot, courtesy of my master's mentor and supervisor. Although I'm researching on pneumoniae at the mo, both of them who are experts on X-ray crystallography, were really kind to let me experience this amazing time at the synchrotron facility and I absolutely loved each and every second I spent there!

The pic below shows the electron storage area.

X-ray hutch. Of course, you have to go through health and safety rules and regulations, as well as tests, before and while you are on the site.

It felt like I was in a set of a movie ^^" Kinda gave a Bond vibe hahaah.

Hopefully, I can go back again soon :D

Here's an ariel view of the synchrotron. The Diamond Light Source is the UK's national facility. They also hold public open days so if you're interested, do check out their website here.

Drawing Master Lee

2012-12-09T11:29:00.000+00:00

Started off with pencil work.

Then etched on top with a Stabilo Fineliner. Absolute beaut of a pen to work with.

Decided to add some claws.

Scales drawn and filled in.

Shading with Tiger water colour pencils.

And finally, after brushing with water.

End result in scan mode.

Very happy with the outcome :) Took me ~6 hours to finish.

Also, as soon as I finished, I found out through Youtube that it was his birthday! One heck of an amazing coincidence! In my opinion, the man on the screen with the best bod.

Nothing new besides the stormy weather outside, so just goofed around with the webcam.

I love this Primark jumper; so soft and warm. Tribal earrings gifted to me from my dear Lemony. Glasses; Vera Wang.

2 Beach Boys & a Pianist

2012-11-11T03:52:00.000+00:00

My current obsession with the 90's is getting out of control! I've already watched Reality Bites twice this month and now I'm repeating scenes from "Long Vacation" over and over again... finding a well reviewed JDorama set in the 90's is good enough for me but at the same time, having not just one, but 2 out of these 3 gorgeous men starring in it is not good for my health! Ooh the heart, it flutters too much (>_<)~ their hair... so perfectly quaffed.

Takenouchi Yutaka with a cig in the 1st photograph and with Takashi Sorimachi in the 2nd.

Such a cool vibe. The two actors star alongside each other in "Beach Boys".

My boyfriend and I are big fans of Mr. Sorimachi's GTO series; one of the best JDramas out there in my opinion. The chemistry between his and Nanako Matsushima's character is just so fun to watch and they actually fell in love at the set and got married!

And finally, we have Takuya Kimura. DB loved "Hero" and he told me to watch it ages ago, which I still haven't ^^" but will definitely now after having watched his performance in Long Vacation. He stars alongside Takenouchi Yutaka as a young piano teacher who starts sharing an apartment with an ex-model 7 years his senior.

I can't imagine anyone else playing the roles of the two leads. Tomoko Yamaguchi is an amazing actress and I loved watching her in this one. I feel that the JDramas back then were more natural compared to the ones they air these days. Nowadays, the dramas seem a bit too exaggerated and unreal. These doramas I've listed, all from the 1990's, are my top 3 JDramas of all time... well, so far, until now. And then comes "1 Litre of Tears". That one's the 4th because it made me cry too much... probably cried a litre for each episode.

Late Season Shopping

2012-11-04T01:08:00.001+00:00

Tunic Dress by F&F at Tesco

Tights by bhs

Wedges by Marks & Spencer

Hm, the first two pictures look like the before and after versions of myself. The weather may appear bright at the moment in England but the crowd's constant sniffing suggests that winter's here. Clearance on summer items are on and the feeling of buying clothing items at 70% less than the original price is quite satisfying indeed. These wedges are definitely my best buys of the season but I don't think I will be wearing them until summer strikes back.

I had been thinking of buying a make-up kit, complete with brushes and all as I've never owned one because of that incident when I was 13 and had this random allergic reaction to a foundation while preparing for a school play's rehearsal. My face was all puffy and gouty like a crocodile's skin for a couple of days. But I've gradually started to apply make-up again, taking allergic tests first of course and the only foundations I use are either Nivea's tinted moisturising cream or Skin79's Super+ BB cream. Anywho, I bought this 17 kit from Boots which was recommended for beginners... and I like the ribbon :D

Such an organised box!

I like the colours; they aren't too flashy and all the essential ones are in there. I've tested a few items and I love the primer and the gel liner. The brushes seem good too and so does the mascara but I'm not too sure about the liner, they appear to be a bit faint.

Another thing I bought; this A-mazing hair-brush called the tangle teezer. God, I never thought I would love combing my hair! It just clears all those darn tangles in a swipe. It may work differently for different kinds of hair, but it works really well on my fine ones. My hair's been falling and thinning like crazy over the past couple of years and I recently noticed this product. Now, I don't know if its had a psychological effect on me or what, but I feel like my hair's starting to grow thicker and I'm noticing less hair loss. It cost me £10.99 but I feel like its worth the investment.

And now with this free promotion of all the above products, I bid you adieu~ I kinda wish that these product producers somehow, out of nowhere, stumble upon this post and feel even a wee little bit gratified that they decide to sponsor me... but that probably has a lesser chance of happening than me winning the lottery... :'( lulz, ok bye.

A Modest Charmer

2012-11-01T21:08:00.000+00:00

I wanted to post this before I go and watch Skyfall tomorrow. So excited to see Ben Whishaw as the new Quartermaster! His 20 minute skit, Love Hate, on the BBC was so funny and you can't help but fall in love with his and Abbie Cornish's portrayal of John Keats and Fanny Brawne in Bright Star.

A very Rock 'n' Roll Birthday

2012-10-23T13:29:00.000+01:00

Our first ever visit to a Hard Rock Cafe to celebrate DB's 24th!
Here are the pics, starting from our tour at the Vault!

It was an A-mazing experience, not only for the birthday boy, but for all of us. Firstly, because we got the chance to see all this magnificent rock memorabilia and were actually allowed to take pictures with! Secondly, because this was the first time that any of us had to wait so long to eat! 2 and a half hours! But, me and DB personally thought it was definitely worth a place going to, especially for him since he is such a huge rock and roller at heart.

~✰✰ Yukatas ✰✰~

2012-10-23T11:01:00.001+01:00

Wore a yukata for the first time! And yep, it had to be a sakura print for me :D This year's Japan Matsuri was lovely but we were a bit shocked because the number of people turning up in yukatas was quite low... compared to last year's. It may have been due to the weather, which appeared cooler than the previous Matsuri fest's, yet we still helped our selves to some green tea ice-cream.

Sophiya and myself at the tube. We also met a samurai hahaah.

We bought our yukatas online from the Yukata Kimono Market. The price for each cost around £70+ (depends on the material, design and patterns of yukata or kimono) including the obi belt and delivery. We did some researching and that's about the average amount one pays for a Japanese yukata. The shipping was quick, with our products arriving within a week and found the service quite impressive. The material of the yukatas was really good, especially the obi belt, which was chosen for me by the staff in Japan.

I can't find the detailed pictures I took when the package arrived more than 6 months ago, but I got the obi belt on the far left hand side of the above pic.

I definitely recommend this webshop if you are looking to buy a yukata for yourself. It may seem pricey but hey, most traditional dresses come with a heavy price tag anyway. We didn't want to have a bad experience and regret buying our 1st yukatas, so we opted to splurge some. And oh yes, you can buy yukatas on the spot at the annual Matsuri festival! They do have kimono stalls and I think we came across prices of £35 and upwards.

Pics of the festival can be found in the offical Japan Matsuri facebook page.

Bunny Top

2012-10-08T23:28:00.000+01:00

Found this adorable bunny top at Asda (by George). This is probably the first piece of clothing I bought without looking at the price tag!

It's just cho cute! Love the faux fur ears too ^^

I wanted to test this app called PhotoWonder so took some shots using my Samsung Galaxy Ace. The camera's only 5 mp and doesn't allow you to zoom, but I have to say the focus works pretty well. The app is wonderful, providing lots of options for editing; definitely worth the download.

Cakes and Kisses

2012-09-24T01:10:00.000+01:00

Teej's just left and I borrowed mum's saree for the occasion.

Bought a couple of sweet treats for the family:

The Black Forest Gateau at Patisserie Valerie is simply divine and the mixed fruit tart equally scrumptious.

Just finished watching the final episode of Rich Man, Poor Woman... and they finally freaking kissed!!! Man, I'm gonna miss this drama so much! (Ｔ▽Ｔ)

It's been a loong time since I've enjoyed a new Japanese drama and this one was excellent, especially for a business themed one. The drama's heavily based on tactics of the young generation's money making minds and eventually explores the blossoming of love between two co-workers, well, the guy being the president of the company.

Two out of my many favourite scenes that I would like to share with you (♡∀♡)

Hands down to Oguri Shun and Ishihara Satomi for making this series just so darn good. Great chemistry between them. Hopefully, we can see them working together more often in the future :)

I'm on Instagram!

A lot of people were telling me about it and I finally decided to hop in the Instagram gang. I'd be grateful if you could follow me @gorillaah. Thank youh!

Soft gradient nails

2012-09-11T23:42:00.001+01:00

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

3 shades of nail polish + 1 clear (optional)

Nail polish remover and Q tips

1. I prefer applying a transparent nail varnish before painting my nails with colours.

This helps prevent the nails from turning yellowish.

2. Put on the lightest shade.

3. Followed by a darker one filling only 2/3 of the nails from the tips.

4. Followed by the darkest shade of nail varnish, a 1/3 from the tip.

5. Apply transparent coating one more time once dry.

6. Clean off varnish from skin (if any) using a Q tip dipped in nail polish remover.

The pictures above were taken during night time but this is how your nails will appear during daylight.

Enjoy!

Hit the beach

2012-08-24T12:10:00.000+01:00

Bournemouth is always an amazing beach to go to; especially in a darn hot day. Queued for 3 hours just to park but the spot really was worth the wait.

Amazing blue skies, gold grains of sand and a damn good selca.
What more can you ask for? :)

London 2012

2012-08-22T15:14:00.000+01:00

Couldn't think of a better title. This is how the Metro looked while marking the closing ceremony of the Olympics in Britain.

The shops were heavily decorated with a patriotic theme. Lots of scones with jam and clotted cream.

Watching the games with a pint of beer, cheering and laughing out loud with people from all different corners of the world is truly a moment to experience!

Yes, Optimus Prime was in the neighbourhood. He was scouting for Autobots so I enlisted myself for the next mission.

Saw a Ferrari in the building near our bus stop. Don't know if it signed up or not.

Tried Pinkberry for the first time. Amazing guilt free treat.

Will be in Nepal for 2 weeks. Till then, ciao~

Jubilee weekend

2012-06-09T13:01:00.001+01:00

Didn't go to the main event (which I regret) due to other commitments, but thanks to John Lewis, I did manage to take a snap of the Queen's portrait made entirely out of jelly beans to commemorate the event.

Finished my exams yet can't think of anything awesome to do... except think about what to eat next. Roomy made some real good chocolate and cinnamon muffins.

The weather was good for around a week or two.

But now it's raining all the time. There's even been flooding in Stratford and people had to walk through the tunnel because the tube line stopped. Oh hang on... we have an update here...another massive flooding in Wales as well. Well, at least the plants are making the most of it.

Got a new, hair cut~ Yes, chopped them uneven locks. Had a lot of split ends.

I've been trying to develop my relationship with the sexist cat that lives around in the neighbourhood but have got no luck whatsoever. The cat jumps and dances and does all that jazz when a man calls out (I don't know its gender but very likely that its a she, but then again it could be gay.) but snares and makes a sort of pouty face, like in the picture below, when a female approaches it. You funny kitteh.

All the lovely things

2012-05-05T15:10:00.003+01:00

A new Ladurée branch has opened at Bank now and they were featuring really cute Hello Kitty boxes.

Got a year older, so tried wiping away that sad feeling by adding just a candle on the cake. Felt better. Then cous brought along a cheesecake and some Gu, which literally translates to poo in Nepalese. Tasted good though. Who would've thought?

Received lots of cards; Tis been long since I had a reading session. Beautiful gifts from beautiful friends; an awesome manga tee and Naruto monkey bag from Dipa (she knows this otaku here), a coool goody bag of gold cross crop top, shower gels and more from Arti and a loovely summery peachy pink dress from Sammy.

The other half, with Niki's help :D gave a surprise as well. T'was really big shock; my hands hurt from picking my jaw up all the time.

I feel blessed with such wonderful gestures from my friends and family and I'm sure everyone does, especially on their birthdays. So when it's their turn, I hope I can give as much as I can.

Mobile Surprises

2012-04-17T14:42:00.000+01:00

Today, DB sent me these pictures he made from a magical little app.

Amazing pieces from a new gif creator and its pretty easy to use too.

I first heard about cinemagr.am from my brother.

The results remind me a lot of Jamie Beck's works.
