13's Signing Day!

On November 3rd, 2011, the Oklahoma Thunder 13's attended their first ever signing day. These players are committed to each other, their team, and the Oklahoma Thunder Volleyball Club. Coach Mark Winburn asked a simple question...."Are you ready to start this?" Resounding smiles were on each player's face, and heads were nodding throughout the room. Thunder 13's first practice will be next Tuesday, November 8th.

Try-outs Officially Over!

Spring Smackdown

Where do I even start? Thunder 4 kicked some booty this weekend!!! We played Club Net, OK Charge, OK Storm, and OK Edge in pool play. We were told at the beginning of the day that we were put in the harder pool, but that did not get us down because my girls came ready to win! We came out of pool with four wins and four loses which had us tied with Charge, but based on points we came out on top and placed second in our pool! For the first time this season! We then got into the higher part of the bracket and had some tough competition and was beaten by Club One in the second round of bracket to end our day.

Christian Heritage Challenge Mar 20th, 2010

The team traveled to Del City this weekend with 7 of the 9 rostered players. The line up had to be totally reconstructed. Coach Mark Winburn to the team "You all know you can switch and adjust to play anywhere on the court, just play your type of volleyball". Thunder II stepped up in the first match against the sister team, Thunder One winning straight 25-14, 25-20. #16 Caitlin was key as the only setter on the court completing 35 perfect sets to the hitting crew.

Thunder 5 at the Christian Heritage Tournament

Thunder 5 showed tons of heart at the Christian Heritage Challenge on March 13, 2010. Most impressive was their passing, as they significantly increased their number of digs and decreased their number of dropped balls from the last tournament. The MVP was Nena, who had the most aces, hits, and blocks for the weekend, and an overall serving percentage of 86% accuracy. Paola won our serving award, with 90% accuracy, and Lindsay won the hitting award, with 5 kills for the day. Hannah won both the ace and dig award, with 5 tough serves and 11 passes. We were so proud of ALL the girls on the team, who have shown determination and dedication throughout the season. Coach Laughter - "We look forward to returning to Del City this weekend for another challenge!"

Thunder II vs Thunder II Parents Challange

Wednesday, March 31st, at 5:30PM, a Challenge Match will be played between the self coached, Thunder II Team and their Parents and Coaches. This venue will be held at Goldner Gym, on Fort Sill and will surely bring national attention from ESPN, ABC, NBC, and the Fox Networks.

North Texas Challenge

Oklahoma Thunder II traveled to the Dallas area on March 6th, 2009 to tangle with the outstanding Texas Volleyball Teams. The team really didn't know what to expect, remembering Thunder 5's trip earlier this season. If you remember, Coach Rose's Thunder 5 represented the entire club in an outstanding way. Oklahoma Charge Invitational

Originally this tournament was by "Invite only". Thunder II was offered an opportunity to enter, so the team traveled to Oklahoma City to compete. Thunder II was narrowly defeated by the OK Charge 22-25, 22-25 in a nail biter. Next came the the Peak National team. This team ranked Third in the Nation last year. This didn't stop Thunder II's Middles in blocking a powerful team. The team lost, but scored against these giants. The Thunder Two then played Velocity and dominated in two straight games by a point margin of 14 and 11

Volleyfest 2010

MVP for this past weekends Volleyfest Tournament was clear. Thunder II had a somewhat good day on Saturday, defeating Fatchmo in straight sets, and splitting with what seems to be a building rival, Catoosa VBC. Thunder II's MVP is #16, Caitlin Coss. Caitlin has a terrible job in the team, only Caitlin can step up to this challenge. She is one of the setters, but also is a "killer hitter/blocker", who's skills this past weekend proved to dominate the teams Thunder II faced. 26 points off of serve (including 7 Aces), 14 Kills in Day One, coupled with 9 in the second day.

February Fiesta

What an exciting and nail biting time we had this past weekend. Thunder One broke out of their shells and even put on a show for the Thunder Fans as they struggled during their first two matches losing to the Oklahoma Storm and to Team Tulsa who went on to win 1st place in the Gold Bracket. By the Third match against the Oklahoma Storm we were on top of our game edging them out in two, 25-21 and 25-23 which pitted us against Moore Power in a race for the Championship in the Silver Bracket. After Dominating Moore 25-15 and 25-11 we were clearly focused on winning.

Tulsa Attack

The Club traveled to Tulsa, OK on Jan 15th. Result MVPs are: Thunder One: soon to come Thunder II: Alex Fisher, #3 played an almost perfect tournament. Her talents were dreaded by every team she faced. Alex led the entire Thunder Club with 24 points off of serve. Her percentage of serve was an amazing 98%. Although Alex serves the Thunder II team as a primary Defense Specialist with 28 perfect passes, she is so adapts to the entire sport her skill showed true in perfect sets, and her coverage of the entire court. Alex was continually set to hit from the backrow, where she could not be blocked. Congratulations Alex!!!
