Thanks for reading this, and thanks for truly understanding this article!

And yes, you are absolutely right. I don't know where the hell this debate came from which is why I brought it up.

I hope you can expand on this topic by submitting your take in our FRESHH Symposium. Old School Scholar is the home for your place to speak.

Peace!

First of all, anything can be an addiction whether it is physical or psychological dependent. Syrup maybe medicine but so are pain pills which is the biggest drug of choice now-a-days. Kids are getting high off of allergy pills, too. Weed is bad habit forming which can lead to psychological addiction. Whatever you spend way too much time with that becomes your god is an addiction. Even working 40 hours overtime for time and a half pay; 7 days a week can be an addicition. So whatchasayin?

Best rapper alive to you which is fine by us. You only know as far as your experience, research, and knowledge, but he is not the best end all be all rapper alive. However it is a great sales pitch by Wayne to stir up press. It was the same tactic used by LL Cool J when he released I'm Bad in 1988, and he had groupies like yourself back then eating it up. That is what made both of them a superstar in their days. But LL Cool J is better than Wayne to this day and in works.

It is not a matter whether he dropped out of school. It is a matter of not opening your mouth about something before you check your facts. Old School Scholar will not post about the Hip Hop culture if we were not experienced about it. We live it. You will never hear us talk about modifying a racing import, implementing hybrid fuels, and alloy frames because we know nothing about the subject. We do not live it. Many great millionaires dropped out of school but still got educated. In other words get educated so you will not have to put your foot in your mouth.

Finally, we do not hate Lil Wayne. We dislike what he represents. A fabrication of mainstream marketing and glam images. This is not keepin' it street. This is not Hip Hop. If Lil Wayne is real why not go head to head, lyric for lyric against another emcee. He just is not an emcee. Lyric and flow-wise, he could not hold Talib Kweli's jock, Black Thought, or Charlie 2Na on the mic. Lyricism is an artform and a craft. Point blank.

Peace, and thank you for your passion.

FINALLY!!!! I keep telling wifey, we're not the only people in the world who not only understand the difference but spend our dollars based upon an artist's ability to master those 4 levels. As Jada once said, 'U use the beat for help, we help the beat" most people don't understand that the Ultimate MC is going to manifest ill lyrics within the framework of a tight ass rhyme...Understand that the MC is that natural evolution of the freestylist - darwinism at its finest. Being a lyricist encompasses so much more; delivery, flow, breathe control, body language - the total package. Everybody that picks up a mic &/or pen is a lyricist but not every lyricist is an MC..."I start to think & then I sink N2 the paper like I was ink..."

Ok, I'm let ya'll digest on that for a moment because you're re-assessing the heirarchy of your favorites as your reading this.

My only issue with this article is that the author did not expand upon how this confusion came about or - and more importantly, how this fraud continues to be perpetrated. I'm going to assume that the author & I are within the same age demographic and I'm going to further suppose he's got his history from living it & loving it. Those prefaces in place I stand incredulous at his assertion that freestylist are misguided.

Nonetheless, an excellent article that further explores the boundaries of some thing that was just a fad when I was a kid...

The Kung Fu flicks from the 1970s through the mid 1980s did have overused themes pertaining to revenge and the big showdown finales. Old western movie plot-lines had a major influence in this era thanks to Chang Cheh. It was his formula because he was such a fan of "spaghetti westerns." But not all Kung Fu movies were like this. Some had other themes and twists to the storytelling as well as levels of characterization, therefore no one can truly say they are all the same. Especially when it came to the choreography of these classics.

Today's Kung Fu films are shot with an epic feel laced with Shakespearean drama and tragedies like Hero, House of Flying Daggers, and Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Of course we have the spoofing of Stephen Chow with his classics Kung Fu Hustle and Shaolin Soccer which I truly advise people to watch with an open mind.

Q Ball has truly encouraged me and the crew to enjoy all of these films, and we are glad we did!

Thanks for reading, cousin!
