OH Summer of Pride 2016 House Music Mixset

The usual joyful character of Pride month around the world was greatly dampened by the horrific events in Orlando, Florida in the early morning of June 12th, 2016. All members of the LGBT community and their allies have rightfully been shocked and appalled by the actions of a very deranged individual.

While this person has tragically taken the lives of our brothers and sisters, he has not robbed us of our resolve for true equality in our society. It appears that now, more than ever, we need Pride celebrations to push towards a world where homophobia is no more and where we can love who we wish without fear of persecution, abuse or harm. I encourage everyone to remain vigilant, but not be afraid to go out there and enjoy your time with your chosen family. If we become afraid and retreat, then those who think similarly to the perpetrator will have accomplished their mission. I, for one, think this is unacceptable.

I dedicate this podcast to the memory of those lost in the attack on our community, to its courageous survivors and to the entire LGBT community who will be healing from this terrible chapter in our history for a very long time. We must not accept the status quo and keep the fight going such that the lives of the victims will not have been lost in vain.

Wishing everyone safe and happy Pride celebrations everywhere. I hope that this music helps a bit in the healing.
