The show

Alright already, I know it's been awhile since I've posted a show on here. Things got just a weeeee bit crazy. The roof at the radio station leaked big time, it took forever for the contractor to get out there, then after getting that fixed the transmitter on top of the inn screwed up and we couldn't fix it because we got stuck in a three week stretch of rain. Fun stuff!

Anyway, in the time I was off, I experimented with the idea of a co-host. That idea ends shortly into this show. There's your oddball bit of trivia. I managed to delve into a little football, a pinch of basketball and even a face transplant or two. Now all you have to do is listen.

Never a dull moment in community radio...

Finally I get Internet access in the studio. This, I think, is one of the best shows in a long time. Things actually managed to click pretty well and I'm finally getting ideas and becoming re-inspired. Good times peoples

Just a quick ray of sunshine note, even though he probably has no idea this exists, best wishes to Dave Waddell. He's the advisor and the big cheese at The Orion. His mom passed away last Tuesday.

The best way to follow up that paragraph is a quick synopsis of our night, which involved Sony, Coke, glue and genitals. Oh, and the not-so-quick end of Abeline, Texas way back in the day. Curious? Then tune in!

Well people, I think the audio issues are almost completely resolved. Within the next show or two, things should be perfect (right now it's at about 90%, but a very strong 90%) and with the upgrades in the studio (i.e. internet) I should be able to make a better show.

This week was a bit trying with iMic. We tried to get Audacity to read it in stereo, which we tried when we were still on the air, but failed miserably and there was a nice long editing process waiting for me.

Long story short, we have officially ditched Audacity except for editing. We'll give Garageband a shot, especially since I realized that clicking noise it was making was the metronome. Yeah, I don't know music worth anything.

Anyway, I also threw on a fast version that may or may not work. Talk about drama!

This week is kind of a big week. We made a big shift to importing directly to the computer through iMic with Audacity, however it would only import in mono. The volume may be slightly different too. Also, the station went live on the internet and you can listen in at www.radiobirdstreet.org.

I have to actually try to title these stupid links or they become invisible

Well, for those of you anxious to see what a wonderful show we put together, you may be sorely disappointed. Well, if you're looking for traditional stuff.

The beginning is a lesson in why you don't play with locks. As the show gets along, we get incoherent with Texas and move along to an even more incoherent ramble. If you listen closely, you can even hear half of the crappy directions Mapquest gave me to my great aunt's house. And yes, 175 is a deathtrap.

One other thing I'm throwing on here (since I'm actually doing a post of some value) is something we tease to at the end. We're planning on actually putting on a production of Inherit the Wind, which I am currently adapting into a simpler radio play. I'm trying to get a cast together to hopefully record this week. The editing process may make up to two weeks to complete as I actually get back into the swing of the fall semester the week after we record. However, I will do my best to get it done.

Oh and for those of you worried that we're going to divert from the course you've heard over the past few weeks, relax. We're planning on dividing it up to where it'll be played over the course of a month or two. Hopefully this time next week I can put together a cast list. OK, hopefully this time next week I won't be saying, "damn, the idea fell through."
