This masterpiece painted by Alexandre Cabanel depicting the birth of Venus? Yeah, something's wrong with it: Venus. Or rather her hips, according to our contemporary standards of beauty inflamed by the powers of Photoshop. Italian artist Anna Utopia Giordano highlights this fact in Venus, a project that slims down art history's famous nudes from Botticelli to Ingres. Rubens, for one, would have been shocked. Every year we look forward to reading filmmaker John Waters' Top 10 films list in ArtForum, so we were very excited when the Pope of Trash offered up his favorite recent albums to Rookie, an online mag for teen girls, as part of a tour of his Baltimore home. Naturally his pad is fully stocked with fake food, pulp fiction and Justin Bieber memorabilia. Shockingly, however, the Biebs' new Christmas album was absent from a pile of CDs he showed to Rookie's photographer.

So what is Waters listening to these days? A compilation of covers of The Velvet Underground's "I'll Be Your Mirror," Benjamin Grosven's Chopin, Liszt, Ravel, Keren Ann's 101, Lykke Li's Wounded Rhymes, Gang Gang Dance's Eye Contact, PJ Harvey's Mercury Prize winner Let England Shake, Chris Isaak's Beyond the Sun, Wye Oak's The Knot, southern rapper Yelawolf's Radiaoctive, and Zola Jesus's Conatus.

In an uncharacteristic move from the daytime talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres devoted a portion of her opening to the ludicrous One Million Moms uproar, which has made a stink in the past few weeks protesting Ellen's role as the new spokesperson for JC Penny because she is a lesbian -- and therefore defiles traditional values. "I just want to be clear," Ellen said. "Here are the values I stand for: I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion, treating people the way you want to be treated, and helping those in need. To me those are traditional values."

Fourteen years after Brandy and Monica teamed up for the cross-promotional milestone "The Boy Is Mine," the R&B princesses have returned to the studio and recorded another duet, "It All Belongs To Me." Produced by Rico Love, the track will feature on both singers' forthcoming solo albums. It's not likely the gays will be flipping their invisible ponytails around the dance floor over this one, but we'll dust off an old pair of silk pajama bottoms and give it a whirl anyway:
