Though while on SYTYCD both Evan and Jess were considered Broadway style dancers, this show will be the Broadway debut for Thayne, Alex and Evan.  However,  Evan was part of the Newsies cast in their run out of town at the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey.  The show is set to begin previews March 15th with an opening date of March 29th.  Newsies will run through June 10 at the Nederlander Theatre.

Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right.

Newsies is inspired by the real-life ‘Newsboy Strike of 1899,’ when newsboy Kid Blink led a band of orphan and runaway newsies on a two-week-long action against Pulitzer, Hearst and other powerful newspaper publishers.

This is probably the first dance video I’ve seen that makes this silly song look so good. Here’s a clip from Kyle Hanagami and Ian Eastwood’s class – also featuring Chachi Gonzales, Brandon Dumlao, and more. All of them are such sick dancers; I watched this several times so I could watch each dancer individually. Crazy!

“All the Right Moves (wt)” features Emmy nominated choreographer Travis Wall (“So You Think You Can Dance,” “Step Up 4”) and his lifelong friends and roommates, Teddy Forance (dancer/choreographer with “Cirque du Soleil,” Kelly Clarkson’s appearance on the “American Music Awards”) dancer Nick Lazzarini (winner of “So You Think You Can Dance” season one) and Julliard trained Kyle Robinson (recently featured on “- TV by The Numbers

Lady Antebellum performed while Kym Johnson, Dmitry Chaplin, Peta Murgatroyd and Val Chmerkovskiy danced.

Each of the 3 contestants were told to pick one of their previous dances and dance again trying to improve their score.  Ricki Lake and Derek Hough chose to redance their tango from movie week.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke chose to redance their foxtrot dedicated to Rob’s father.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff redanced their jive.

It was then announced that the couple in third place was Ricki Lake and Derek Hough.

Eliminated contestants from this season performed:

Lady Antebellum performed again while the DWTS Troupe (Oksana Dmytrenko, Christopher “Kiki” Nyemchek, Sasha Farber, Sharna Burgess, Dasha Chesnokova, Ted Volynets) danced.

The two remaining couples danced an instant samba.

The winner was then announced: J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff.

First to dance their ballroom was Ricki Lake and her partner Derek Hough.  They danced a chacha and earned 27 points.

Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke danced a waltz and earned 27 points.

J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff danced a chacha and earned 24 points.

Ricki and Derek were first to dance freestyle.   They earned 27 points.

Rob and Cheryl danced a freestyle which received 30 points.

J.R. and Karina danced freestyle and earned 30 points.
