Businesses could take a hit from something new happening in Google Places. Apparently Google and Equifax have partnered up to start displaying the credit scores of your local businesses showing up in Google Places. This is going to be great for consumers but it’s seems to be a little unfair to the businesses that may take a hit from this new Google Places feature.

So we all laughed on April 1st when Google released their annual April Fool’s Day prank about the “Google Gmail Motion.” Well apparently the joke is on them because the Institute of Creative Technologies has gone and turned it real.

The Institute of Creative Technologies has humorously dubbed it SLOOW or “Software Library Optimizing Obligatory Waving” and it used a Microsoft Kinect camera to power the technology and interact with Gmail. Ironic and a little amazing is that it works pretty much just like Google intended: using body gestures you can type into Gmail, send email by “liking” the stamp and slapping it onto an imaginary envelope, and more…. Check out the video below of the guys over at the Institute of Creative Technologies having some fun with it.

If you’re in the Internet business in one way or another you have to deal with the Google, that’s right I totally called them “the Google”, I’m really just that cool. Anyway, I am a fan, always have been, hope I always am. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not falling for that “do no evil” bullshit, they are a public company and they are supposed to make money, they have an inherit greedy and evil side, but they do benefit the Internet and those that love it in so many ways.

So before I get lost talking about Google, today’s post is supposed to be about Google’s April Fool’s day gag. They are famous for them starting in 2000. You can read all about them over the years at Wikipedia’s ‘Google’s Hoaxes’. Well this years email hoax is a good one, check out Gmail Motion (BETA) and see what all the fuss is about.

So the awful truth is that I have been very busy and a bit lazy in keeping my blog updated. I have decided to bring it back into the fold of loved and cared for blogs in my network I manage so I should be posting here more often.

I do foresee a format change coming though. There are already way to many sites out there with regurgitated how-to’s and do this or that articles to really make an impact. I always intended, and wanted something different from this blog. A lighter side to our profession if you will.

Sounds great right!?! Wrong, I have had so many problems with their system it has been a nightmare. I haven’t even been able to import my PPC campaigns into their system for more than 3 months, but of course they still charged us, for all the time we couldn’t use them. Not sure how I “Execute campaigns and review ROI performance from one integrated solution” when I can’t even get my campaigns in Lyris.
