<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When faced with the task of removing stubborn grime and scuff marks, I always reach right for my box of <a href="https://amzn.to/3qsmRuy" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">magic erasers</a>. They are truly one of my favorite cleaning tools! In fact, I love them so much that I’ve already written a full blog post on ways to use magic erasers (which you can check out at the link below!)</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Despite already having written a post about <a href="https://amzn.to/3qsmRuy" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">magic erasers</a>, that doesn’t mean I’m all out of things to say about them! So today we’ll be exploring <i>even more</i> things you can clean with magic erasers around the house. But before we get to those, I thought it would be helpful to share a few quick tips about using magic erasers in general. These tips will help you no matter what you end up cleaning with your magic erasers! :-)</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">My Top 3 Tips for Using Magic Erasers</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><b>Cut them into smaller pieces.</b> Magic erasers wear out with each use, so cutting them into pieces is a great way to make each eraser last as long as possible. I cut each magic eraser into at least four pieces, but occasionally as many as eight depending on what I’m cleaning!</li>

<li><b>Always add water.</b> You should always dampen a magic eraser before using it. They aren’t meant to be used dry!</li>

<li><b>Wear gloves.</b> Magic erasers act like superfine sandpaper to scrub away gunk and grime. But it can also take a toll on your hands if you’re not careful! So it’s always a good idea to wear cleaning gloves when cleaning with magic erasers.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s shaping up to be a summer like no other, but lately I’ve been thinking that doesn’t have to be such a bad thing. You don’t have to travel or spend a bunch of money to have some summer fun, and there’s plenty of it to be had right in your own backyard!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Personally, I’ve found planting flowers and gardening to be very therapeutic, so I’ve been doing <em>a lot</em> of that lately. But your idea of summer fun might be watching your grandkids run through the sprinklers, grilling up delicious meals, or road tripping with the family.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">No matter how you’d like to spend your time this summer, you may need to stock up on supplies or equipment before you can get started. But in today’s blog post, I want to share an easy way you can get everything you need for summer as inexpensively as possible!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Below, I’ve put together a list of 10 summer essentials you can find at your local dollar store. Many people don’t think to check the dollar store for this kind of stuff, but it’s a great way to jump-start your <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/how-to-have-more-fun-this-summer-for-less-money/" class="rank-math-link">summer fun without breaking the bank</a>!</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">My New Favorite Kitchen Gadget: <a href="https://jillee.co/fc4fat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored">Chef’n VeggiChop Food Chopper</a></h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Meet my new best friend in the kitchen, the <a href="https://jillee.co/fc4fat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored">Chef’n VeggiChop hand-powered food chopper</a>. It makes short work of chopping onions or garlic, and you can even use it make guacamole in record time!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Since I got this handy new gadget a couple of weeks ago, I’ve found myself using almost daily for some task or another! Here are just a few of the reasons why I’m over the moon about this little guy:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">5 Reasons Why I Love This Food Chopper</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="931" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112519" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/MDTXvNdX-food-chopper8-745x493.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112519" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/MDTXvNdX-food-chopper8-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/MDTXvNdX-food-chopper8-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/MDTXvNdX-food-chopper8-600x750.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/MDTXvNdX-food-chopper8.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. No Plug or Batteries</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One notable feature that sets this chopper apart from other small food processors is that this one is hand-powered. There’s no plug and no battery compartment, just a handle attached to a pull cord!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But don’t let the “hand-powered” label fool you—this little chopper packs a serious punch! The blades whip around with more than enough force to chop up hard things like big chunks of veggies, nuts, and even ice!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="491" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112512" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/arkMKzzR-food-chopper1.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112512" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/arkMKzzR-food-chopper1-300x198.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/arkMKzzR-food-chopper1-531x350.jpg 531w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/arkMKzzR-food-chopper1-370x244.jpg 370w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/arkMKzzR-food-chopper1-600x395.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/arkMKzzR-food-chopper1.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Easy to Use</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I have more that enough complex gadgets at home already, so it’s nice to have one that couldn’t be easier to use! All I have to do is put the food in the chopper cup, put the lid on, and pull the cord a few times!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="491" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112513" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/J36KTUYa-food-chopper2.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112513" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/J36KTUYa-food-chopper2-300x198.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/J36KTUYa-food-chopper2-531x350.jpg 531w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/J36KTUYa-food-chopper2-370x244.jpg 370w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/J36KTUYa-food-chopper2-600x395.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/J36KTUYa-food-chopper2.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Dishwasher-Safe</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The VeggiChop has four main parts: the bowl, the blades, a storage lid, and the lid with the pull cord and handle. When it’s time to clean it, the bowl, the blades, and the storage lid can all go right into the top rack of your dishwasher!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Due to the pull cord in the main lid, it needs to be cleaned a bit more carefully. Most of the time you only need to wipe it down with a damp rag, but you can use a sponge and a bit of soapy water if you’re dealing with a stubborn bit of stuck-on food. (Just avoid submerging the lid in water, because it will shorten the lifespan of the pull cord!)</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="931" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112516" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/D40orJFU-food-chopper5-745x493.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112516" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/D40orJFU-food-chopper5-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/D40orJFU-food-chopper5-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/D40orJFU-food-chopper5-600x750.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/D40orJFU-food-chopper5.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. Airtight Lid</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As I mentioned before, the VeggiChop includes an airtight storage lid! It’s great for storing extra guac or salsa in the fridge without the need to get another bowl or container dirty.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112520" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/StrtGcc9-food-chopper9-745x493.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112520" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/StrtGcc9-food-chopper9-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/StrtGcc9-food-chopper9-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/StrtGcc9-food-chopper9.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/StrtGcc9-food-chopper9-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/StrtGcc9-food-chopper9-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Saves Time</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When it comes to knife skills, I have enough to get by… just not very quickly! ;-) So using this food chopper to <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/cutting-onions-without-crying/">chop an onion</a> and a few cloves a garlic for dinner ends up saving me a lot of time and effort!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="491" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112514" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/WlbBJH9M-food-chopper3.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112514" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/WlbBJH9M-food-chopper3-300x198.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/WlbBJH9M-food-chopper3-531x350.jpg 531w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/WlbBJH9M-food-chopper3-370x244.jpg 370w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/WlbBJH9M-food-chopper3-600x395.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/WlbBJH9M-food-chopper3.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In fact, this food chopper is such a time-saver for me that I’ve actually been cooking more since I got it! The knowledge that I won’t have to spend 15 minutes chopping up ingredients has already prevented me from throwing in the towel and ordering delivery more than once.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="931" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/hand-powered-food-chopper/?tp_image_id=112517" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/vITNSwor-food-chopper6-745x493.jpg" alt="food chopper" class="wp-image-112517" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/vITNSwor-food-chopper6-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/vITNSwor-food-chopper6-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/vITNSwor-food-chopper6-600x750.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2020/02/vITNSwor-food-chopper6.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you’re looking for a gadget that can save you some time and effort in the kitchen, I definitely recommend giving the <a href="https://jillee.co/fc4fat" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored">Chef’n VeggiChop</a> a try! This little gadget might just be the game-changing gizmo you never knew you needed. :-)</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I recently came across an article on <a href="http://www.mnn.com/money/personal-finance/photos/7-green-things-our-grandparents-did/green-wisdom" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mother Nature Network</a> that discussed things our grandparents did that we all could take a lesson from, especially the ones that helped conserve personal and natural resources. It got me thinking about things <em>my</em> grandparents (and <em>parents</em> for that matter) did that I really need to rediscover and recommit to.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When you think about it, our parent and grandparents did many &#8220;eco-friendly&#8221; things long before we knew our ecosystem even <em>needed</em> a friend! Just one more example of &#8220;everything old becomes new again.&#8221;</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">17 Eco-Friendly Things Our Grandparents Used to Do</h2>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142272" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_15-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142272" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_15-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_15-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_15-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_15-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_15-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. Dried Clothes on a Clothesline</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Clothes dryers have come a long way in energy efficiency over recent years, but the average dryer is still an energy hog. According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, &#8220;the biggest way to cut the environmental impact of cleaning clothes is to stop using a clothes dryer.&#8221; </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Clothes last longer when they are consistently air dried, and on top of that, is there anything better than sheets and pillowcases hung in the sun to dry? I rest my case.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142266" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_3-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142266" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_3-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_3-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_3-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_3-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_3-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. Grew Their Own Food</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Not only is there an incredible sense of accomplishment in growing your own fruits and vegetables, but you can also avoid pesticides and control the types of seeds and transplants that you sow and grow, like heirloom varieties. My grandparents ALWAYS grew their own food—all you need to do it is soil, water, and sun!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142268" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_8-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142268" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_8-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_8-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_8-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_8-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_8-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. Preserved Their Own Food</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>Canning</em> the food you grow in your garden is a great way to preserve them without having to invest in an enormous freezer. I would love to have a &#8220;root cellar&#8221; full of home-canned goods like my grandmother did.&nbsp;Very little food was wasted back then, and if people today preserved even a fraction of the food our parents and grandparents did, there would be a lot less food going to waste today.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142270" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_10-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142270" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_10-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_10-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_10-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_10-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_10-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. Collected Rainwater</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/how-to-make-rain-barrel/">rain barrel</a> will save most homeowners about 1,300 gallons of water during the peak summer months. And diverting water from storm drains can alleviate stressed water systems and conserve limited resources, especially if you live in an arid climate like I do.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Cooked at Home</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Nothing beats a home-cooked meal, and&nbsp;preparing your own food is good for the environment and your wallet alike. Home cooking typically uses fewer packaged ingredients, which conserves resources like paper and plastic.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And if you buy those ingredients from local farmers or grow your own, you’ll make an even bigger impact on the environment by significantly reducing the number of miles your food has to travel to get to your plate.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142281" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_13-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142281" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_13-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_13-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_13-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_13-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_13-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">6. Saved Eating Out for Special Occasions</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In the modern era, it&#8217;s not uncommon for people to eat out several times each week, but for our grandparents, eating out was saved for special occasions. Even fast food, which wasn’t as common back then, was considered a treat. (I remember my parents used to pack food for our road trips, and we&#8217;d stop to eat our meals at roadside picnic tables.)</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142275" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_18-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142275" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_18-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_18-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_18-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_18-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_18-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">7. Entertained at Home</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Today we spend plenty of time and money on going out. Our grandparents spent more time outdoors during the day, and in the evenings were devoted to board games, reading, and other hobbies. Going to the movies or to a concert was considered a rare luxury.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">By finding more free activities to do and family activities you can do at home, you can save a lot of money and get more quality time with the people you love!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142264" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_1-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142264" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_1-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_1-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_1-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_1-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">8. Drank Water from the Tap</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When our grandparents were thirsty, they got their water from the tap instead a plastic bottle shipped from who knows where. Bottled water would have seemed a ridiculous notion 100 years ago, but today it&#8217;s everywhere you go.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="932" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142269" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_9-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142269" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_9-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_9-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_9-600x751.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_9-745x493.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">9. &#8220;Brown Bagged&#8221; It</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When grandpa or grandma went to work, they brought a packed lunch from home, and it&#8217;s still a great way to reduce food waste and conserve resources! Fast food and fast casual restaurants often serve meals in single-use packaging that ends up in a landfill. With little effort, taking lunch to work can be easy, inexpensive, healthy, and green.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142280" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_7-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142280" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_7-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_7-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_7-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_7-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_7-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">10. Played More Games</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Hopscotch, red light/green light, jacks, hide and seek, roller skating, tag—the list of outdoor games goes on and on. Being outdoors helps children connect with nature and the environment around them, and outdoor play develops disposition for the outdoors, for physical activity, and for care of the environment.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142279" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_6-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142279" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_6-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_6-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_6-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_6-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_6-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">11. Bought Less</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our grandparents didn&#8217;t buy nearly as many new things as we do today. If something had a hole in it, it wasn&#8217;t thrown out–it was patched or mended. Christmas and birthday gifts were often homemade, and things were frequently handed down from child to child. These practices not only saved money, but they were eco-friendly too.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142267" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_4-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142267" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_4-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_4-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_4-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_4-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_4-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">12. Spent More Time Outdoors</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In our grandparents&#8217; day, being indoors meant you were grounded or sick. The outdoors was everyone’s playground from dawn ‘til dusk! Especially in the age of smartphones and tablets, spending time in nature is a great way for everyone in your family to take a break from screens.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="931" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142278" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_12-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142278" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_12-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_12-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_12-600x750.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_12-745x493.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">13. Cultivated Community</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Before Facebook, texting, and email, Grandma and Grandpa just talked to people face to face. Research shows that&nbsp;connecting with people around you&nbsp;makes you healthier and boosts your lifespan and gathering on front porches creates a feeling of community and family.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142271" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_11-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142271" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_11-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_11-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_11-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_11-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_11-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">14. Used Home Remedies</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Many of us have been taught home remedies that have been passed down from generation to generation. Learn how to combat a cold with garlic, ginger, and onions, or soothe a bug bite with <a href="https://byjilleeshop.com/collections/singles/products/lavender" rel="noopener" target="_blank">lavender essential oil</a> or a plantain poultice.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="496" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142273" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_16-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142273" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_16-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_16-526x350.jpg 526w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_16-745x493.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_16-600x399.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_16-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">15. Made Their Own Cleaning Products</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our grandparents used basic cleaning agents to keep their homes clean, and they still work just as well today. In fact, <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/surprising-uses-for-baking-soda/">baking soda</a>, <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/50-amazing-uses-for-vinegar-that-youll-want-to-know/">vinegar</a>, <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/uses-for-lemon-peels-including-lemon-vinegar-2/">lemon</a>, <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/22-uses-for-castile-soap/">castile soap</a>, and <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/cleaning-with-essential-oils-3/">essential oils</a> can cover most of your cleaning needs.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="931" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142274" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_17-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142274" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_17-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_17-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_17-600x750.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_17-745x493.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">16. Used Public Transportation, Rode Bikes, and Walked</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It was common for many of our grandparents to walk or bike to and from work, and more people used public transportation because they didn’t have a car to drive. People took the bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked, and if we drove less today, we could save money and help the environment.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="931" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/grandparents-living-green/?tp_image_id=142265" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_2-745x493.jpg" alt="green things grandparents did" class="wp-image-142265" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_2-240x300.jpg 240w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_2-280x350.jpg 280w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_2-600x750.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2021/08/green_2-745x493.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">17. Recycled</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our grandparents may not have had a recycling center in town, but they knew how to make something into something else. Dresses became quilts, and milk bottles and soft drink bottles were returned to the store to be washed, sterilized, and reused. Everything had a secondary use and nothing was thrown away until it simply couldn&#8217;t be reused again.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph"><em>Did you pick up any environmentally friendly habits from your parents or grandparents?</em></p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One big truth I’ve learned from decades of homemaking is the importance of decluttering in addition to cleaning. No matter how spotless the surfaces in a given room are, it still tends to look like a mess if it&#8217;s cluttered up with junk or stuff that belongs elsewhere!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I’ve written <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/tips-and-tricks-for-clutter/">extensively on decluttering</a> over the years, and in the process have discovered a variety of techniques and strategies that can help make it easier. In this post, I&#8217;m sharing 11 of my favorite decluttering strategies, all of which can help simplify decisions about what to keep, donate, sell, or relocate.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The best decluttering strategy is the one that works for you, so give these techniques a try and get one step closer to a clean <em>and</em> clutter-free home!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">1. The Decluttering Outbox</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/decluttering-outbox-organizing-tip/">decluttering outbox</a> is sort of like a “purgatory” for clutter. As you clean up an area or room of your home, you may end up with items you’re not sure if you want to keep or get rid of, and these will go into your clutter outbox. You will eventually decide the fate of each outbox item, but part of the beauty of the outbox is that you don’t have to decide right away. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Your outbox gives you a place to keep the stuff you’re not sure about, so they don’t end up being shuffled around from place to place. You may even come to realize you don’t <em>really</em> miss the things you put in your outbox, making them easier to get rid of!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">2. The 80/20 Rule</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One popular business adage states that 80% of results come from just 20% of the action. When it comes to household chores, the <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/the-80-20-rule/">80/20 rule can help maximize the results</a> of the effort we put in around the house and get more done in less time.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">By identifying which tasks have the biggest impact and addressing those first, you can keep your home clean without wearing yourself out. Putting things back where they belong is one such task!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">3. 30-Day Challenges</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Need a motivational boost to get you started? Take on a <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/30-day-organizing-challenge/">30-day organizing challenge</a> — if you do one quick project every day, you&#8217;ll be astonished at what you can accomplish in a single month!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Tackling one job at a time feels a lot less overwhelming than the thought of decluttering the entire house, so you&#8217;re more likely to stick with it. Be sure to decide on a worthwhile way to reward yourself for completing the challenge! </p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">4. One In, One Out</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One easy-to-remember tactic for cutting down on clutter is to follow the “one in, one out” strategy. That means for each new thing that comes into your house, you get rid of one you already have.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It&#8217;s a simple and effective way to hit the brakes on accumulating clutter, which will allow you to put more of your attention on pre-existing clutter.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">5. Only the Best</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When holding an item, ask yourself: “Is this the best, my favorite, or necessary?” This decluttering query from Emily Ley can help you streamline larger collections of items to just the cream of the crop, whether that&#8217;s your best set of mixing bowls or your favorite dish towels.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">6. What Sparks Joy?</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8220;Does this spark joy?&#8221; This question is the heart and soul of organizing guru Marie Kondo’s approach to getting rid of clutter. Try asking yourself whether the items cluttering up your home spark joy — a lot of people find this process helpful with things they&#8217;ve been reluctant to let go of.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">7. The &#8220;Ex Test&#8221;</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you&#8217;re struggling to decide whether to keep something or get rid of it, try asking yourself, “Would I make an effort to get this back from my ex?” This simple thought experiment can help you gauge just how much you&#8217;d miss a particular item.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If the item in question was in the possession of someone you had a bad breakup with (whether real or imaginary), would you be willing to put in the effort to get the item back? If not, it’s probably something you can comfortably live without!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">8. The 12:12:12 Challenge</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The 12:12:12 challenge from Joshua Becker of Becoming Minimalist involves choosing 12 items to throw away, 12 items to donate, and 12 items to return to their proper place. This challenge can help you pare down clothing, clean closets and cabinets, and even organize the garage. All you need are three big boxes and some determination.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">9. The OHIO Method</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rather than a reference to the Buckeye State, this OHIO is an acronym meaning “only handle it once.” In the context of decluttering, that means dealing with things the first time you handle them.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For example, when you’re done using an item in the kitchen, you would put it in the dishwasher or clean it and put it away afterward. When you come home and take off your jacket, you would hang it up right away. This strategy can help prevent clutter from accumulating in the first place.</p>

    <figcaption></figcaption>
</figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">10. The 90/90 Rule</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The 90/90 rule can help you decide whether an item is truly useful enough to keep around. As you declutter, ask yourself two questions about anything you&#8217;re undecided about: Have you used the item in the past 90 days, and if not, will you use it in the <em>next</em> 90 days? Answering these questions honestly can help clarify what&#8217;s worth keeping around.</p>

      data-pin-title=""
      data-pin-description="" />

    <figcaption></figcaption>
</figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">11. The Snowball Method</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This method is very simple: any reason that convinces you to keep or get rid of something should apply in the same way to other items. For example, if you decide to get rid of a vase because it&#8217;s cracked, you should also get rid of anything else that has cracks in it.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That may seem overly simplistic, but simplicity is the point of this method. Hemming and hawing are often the biggest hurdles we have to clear when decluttering, and the snowball method can help eliminate unnecessary or lengthy deliberations.</p>

<div class="hbg-bonus-tips-block no-ads"><h2>More Useful Decluttering Tips</h2>

<li>Don&#8217;t forget that when it comes to gifts, it&#8217;s the thought that counts! You&#8217;re not obligated to keep every gift you receive forever.<!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --></li>
<li>If letting go of something right away feels too hard, put it in a box, tape the box closed, and label it with a date six months from now. When that date arrives, ask yourself if you really missed that item (or if you even remember what it was!) If the answer is no, get rid of!<!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --></li>
<li>Photos can be notoriously difficult to pare down. One option is to send all your old photos to a <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/a-simple-way-to-organize-a-lifetime-of-photos/">digitization service</a>. Once everything is digitized, deciding which copies to keep will get a lot easier, because you can always reprint them in the future!<!-- /wp:list-item --> <!-- wp:list-item --></li>
<li>If you find it hard to let go of books, go through your collection and ask yourself if you really think you’ll read each book again. <h2 class="wp-block-heading">My Search For A Moisturizer That Actually Works</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I can’t tell you how many times I’ve stood in front of the mirror thinking, <em>Why is this so hard?</em> One moisturizer would leave my skin stinging. Another would just sit there like a film on top of my face. And plenty more seemed to disappear the moment I put them on, leaving my skin just as dry and tight as before.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When I moved from the humid coast of Southern California to the bone-dry air of Utah more than 30 years ago, my skin had no idea what hit it. Add in the fact that skin gets drier, thinner, and more sensitive with age, and suddenly I was battling flakiness in the winter, irritation from the most innocent-seeming ingredients, and that tight, uncomfortable feeling that never really went away.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I didn’t need a miracle—I just wanted a moisturizer that could keep my skin hydrated and happy, without the side effects. One that didn’t make me choose between comfort and results.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After years of trial and error, I finally found a formula that checked every box. It hydrates deeply without feeling heavy, soothes my sensitive skin, and leaves my face feeling soft and nourished all day long. I call it my <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" rel="noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Ideal Daily Moisturizer</a> because that’s exactly what it is—for me, and for so many others who’ve been searching for something that <em>actually</em> works.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Why Moisture Matters (Especially As We Get Older)</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As we age, our skin naturally starts to lose both water and oil, two things it needs to stay soft, smooth, and comfortable. That’s why dryness, flakiness, dullness, and fine lines all tend to show up more over time, especially in dry climates or after using harsh products.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But not all dryness is the same:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><em>Dehydrated skin</em> lacks water and needs ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin to pull moisture in.</li>

<li><em>Dry skin</em> lacks oil and needs emollients like squalane and vitamin E to help seal that moisture in and strengthen the skin’s barrier.</li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">My <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ideal Daily Moisturizer</a> is designed to do both—hydrate and moisturize—in one gentle, fragrance-free formula. Whether your skin is dry, dehydrated, or a little of both (like mine), it gives your skin what it needs to feel soft, calm, and balanced all day long.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What’s In It (And What That Means For You)</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">My <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ideal Daily Moisturizer</a> is full of gentle, effective ingredients that work together to hydrate, soothe, and support aging and sensitive skin. Here’s a closer look at what’s inside:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Glycerin: </strong>Pulls water into your skin like a magnet, so dry, tight areas feel softer and more comfortable almost instantly.</li>

<li><strong>Squalane: </strong>Feels just like your skin’s natural moisture, which means it hydrates without clogging pores or feeling greasy. It helps your skin look healthier, smoother, and more radiant.</li>

<li><strong>Hyaluronic Acid: </strong>Acts like a tall glass of water for your skin, helping plump the look of fine lines and keep your skin feeling fresh and bouncy.</li>

<li><strong>Niacinamide (Vitamin B3): </strong>Evens out your skin tone, smooths rough patches, and helps calm redness. Over time, it makes your skin look clearer and more balanced.</li>

<li><strong>Chamomile &amp; Aloe Extracts: </strong>Soothe sensitivity and irritation, so your skin feels calm and cared for—even if it tends to react to other products.</li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And what’s&nbsp;<em>not</em>&nbsp;in it matters too: it’s vegan, paraben-free, sulfate-free, silicone-free, and cruelty-free.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You can apply it morning and night, right after your serums and before sunscreen (in the morning). It works beautifully under makeup and never pills or feels greasy. And because a little goes a long way, one jar will last for weeks.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Real Difference It’s Made For Me</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The biggest change I’ve noticed is how&nbsp;<em>comfortable</em>&nbsp;my skin feels. No more midday dryness, no more tightness, no more itching or stinging from harsh ingredients. My skin feels soft, calm, and moisturized from morning to night—and I don’t have to second-guess it anymore.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And based on the reviews I’ve received, I’m not the only one who feels that way:</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>&#8220;I just love this moisturizer. It is so soothing and makes my face so soft! It has helped smooth out my complexion and even diminished some of my wrinkles! I try to make sure that I never run out and always have a backup ready to go when I am at the bottom of my current jar!!&#8221;</em> &#8211; Patricia H.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>&#8220;I am placing another order for the moisturizer. It feels great, not greasy, and smells wonderful. I have eczema, and I worried that my skin might not be able to tolerate it, but I have used it for two months, and I love it. This will always be my go-to moisturizer.”</em> &#8211; Christine M.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><em>&#8220;I have been using this moisturizer at night now for about a month, and I had a friend actually tell me I look like I am aging in reverse. Just being kind? Not out of character for her. A coincidence? Maybe. But you can bet I won&#8217;t be changing products any time soon. I also love the way that it smells. Not perfumey, but pleasant and fresh.&#8221;</em> &#8211; Carolyn D.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">How To Use It In Your Routine</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated to be effective. One of the things I love most about <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this moisturizer</a> is how easy it is to use—you don’t need a 10-step routine or fancy tools to see a real difference. Just apply it morning and night after cleansing, and let the gentle, nourishing ingredients do their work.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Step 1:</strong> Cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser.<br><strong>Step 2:</strong> Apply your favorite serums.<br><strong>Step 3:</strong> Apply a nickel-sized amount of the Ideal Daily Moisturizer to your face and neck.<br><strong>Step 4:</strong> In the morning, follow with SPF.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That’s it! A few simple steps that make a world of difference, especially when used consistently.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bonus: Pair It With the Complete Timeless Routine</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While the <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ideal Daily Moisturizer</a> is a wonderful standalone product, it becomes even more powerful when it’s part of a complete, consistent routine. That’s why I created the <a href="https://byjillee.shop/w0oxfg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Timeless by Jillee Skincare System</a>—to take the guesswork out of caring for dry, sensitive, and aging skin.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Each product in the system was formulated to work together, so instead of mixing and matching products that may or may not agree with your skin, you can follow a simple, step-by-step routine that’s easy to stick with and delivers results.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I designed this system for women like us, who want visible improvements, but also need skincare that’s gentle, straightforward, and doable.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Here’s what’s included in the <a href="https://byjillee.shop/w0oxfg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">complete system</a>:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Nourishing Oil Cleanser</strong>: Gently melts away makeup and impurities without stripping moisture</li>

<li><strong>Purifying Daily Cleanser</strong>: Refreshes and cleans while leaving skin soft and calm</li>

<li><strong>Illuminating Vitamin C Serum</strong>: Brightens and evens skin tone in the morning</li>

<li><strong>Wrinkle Reducing Night Serum</strong>: Smooths, firms, and supports healthy skin renewal overnight</li>

<li><strong>Ideal Daily Moisturizer</strong>: Locks in hydration and soothes skin, morning and night</li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Using the full system consistently helps amplify your results because each step builds on the last—hydrating, nourishing, and protecting your skin without overwhelming it.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s the exact routine I use every day, and the only one that’s ever made my skin feel truly comfortable, calm, and cared for.</p>

<figure id="image-block_55c6d9dfa244237b76dc444bfaec3a2c" class="ogt-image-block aligncenter">

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Try It For Yourself</h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">right moisturizer</a> shouldn’t be hard to find, but for those of us with dry, sensitive, or aging skin, it often feels like it is.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I created this one because I was tired of products that made big promises and left my skin feeling worse. I just wanted something that could keep my skin comfortable and hydrated, day in and day out—without the irritation, the greasiness, or the guesswork.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If that sounds familiar, I hope you’ll give <a href="https://byjillee.shop/yzg33v" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this one</a> a try. Whether your skin gets flaky in the winter, stings when you try something new, or just always feels a little too dry, this moisturizer was made with you in mind.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">It’s gentle enough for even the most reactive skin, but still gives you the rich hydration your skin needs to look and feel its best.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">And just like everything in my Timeless skincare line, it’s backed by my 90-day guarantee, so you can try it risk-free and see how it works for you.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Right now, the Ideal Daily Moisturizer is 30% off, but when you upgrade to the complete Timeless system, you’ll save 40%! That takes the cost down to just $126.57 (regularly $210.95), for a savings of more than $80</strong>.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Imagine waking up to calm, comfortable skin every morning, ready to face the day with confidence.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over the past few months I’ve started sharing &#8220;a few of my favorite things&#8221; here on my blog. (I’m turning into a regular Maria!) ;-) I’ve written about my favorite set of <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/bamboo-bed-sheets/" rel="noopener">bamboo bed sheets</a>, <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/my-favorite-reusable-grocery-bags/">my favorite grocery bags</a>, and even <a href="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/single-serve-rice-krispie-treats-gluten-free/">my favorite single-serving treat</a>!</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Today I&#8217;ll be sharing another favorite product of mine, but this one can’t be worn or even slept on. It&#8217;s actually <a href="https://jillee.co/p9izfg" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow sponsored" target="_blank">a set of food storage containers</a>, and it&#8217;s definitely one of the best kitchen-related purchases I’ve made in a long time! Now you may not be able to find the exact set I have, but <a href="https://jillee.co/xme22t" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sistema</a> makes several different sets, plus you can purchase individual containers if that makes more sense for your space!</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">My New Favorite Way To Store Dry Foods</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">But before I launch into <em>why</em> I love this set of storage containers so much (and trust me, I&#8217;ll get into all the details shortly), lets talk about what comes in the set. <a href="https://jillee.co/p9izfg" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">The particular set I bought</span></a> includes 9 containers of various sizes, and 18 pieces total:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>four 6.76-ounce/200-milliliter containers </li>

<li>two 33.8-ounce/1.0-liter containers </li>

<li>two 13.5-ounce/400-milliliter containers </li>

<li>one 67.6-ounce/2.0-liter container, all with lids</li>
</ul>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">You can view the set in its entirety <a href="https://jillee.co/p9izfg" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow" target="_blank"><span style="text-decoration: underline;">on Amazon</span></a>. But in the meantime, let&#8217;s get to the part where I gush about why these containers are my new favorites!</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Reason #1 &#8211; They&#8217;re Easy to Use</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">One of my favorite features of these containers are their squared-off design. The sides of the containers are straight all the way up, leaving a nice, wide opening at the top. Containers that taper in at the top are a pet peeve of mine, because it makes it a lot harder to scoop the contents out. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="494" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/pantry-storage-containers-set/?tp_image_id=81506" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/bLzuZTJg-stacking.jpg" alt="Pantry Organizers" class="wp-image-81506" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/bLzuZTJg-stacking-300x199.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/bLzuZTJg-stacking-528x350.jpg 528w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/bLzuZTJg-stacking-370x244.jpg 370w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/bLzuZTJg-stacking-600x398.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/bLzuZTJg-stacking.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Reason #2 &#8211; They Stack Nicely</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The lids for the containers are very smart too. They have clips around the edges that lock into place on the containers, creating a firm, airtight seal. The lids are also nice and flat, with a slight ridge around the edges. They’re designed that way so you can stack the containers up vertically, and the ridge around each lid keeps them snugly in place. Stacking these containers up can save you a lot of valuable space in your pantry or cupboard!</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/pantry-storage-containers-set/?tp_image_id=81503" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Key057XW-IMG_1147-745x493.jpg" alt="Pantry Organizers" class="wp-image-81503" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Key057XW-IMG_1147-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Key057XW-IMG_1147-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Key057XW-IMG_1147.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Key057XW-IMG_1147-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Key057XW-IMG_1147-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Reason #3 &#8211; More Sizes, More Versatility</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I also like the variety of sizes that come in this particular set. There are a few deeper containers that are perfect for storing dry bulk ingredients, like flour, sugar, oats, etc. (You can also keep the measuring cups right in the container with the ingredients, so you don’t have to go searching for a measuring cup every time.) </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The smaller, shallower containers are handy for storing ingredients that come in smaller quantities, like baking soda and baking powder. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="497" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/pantry-storage-containers-set/?tp_image_id=81501" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/KvO7T03G-IMG_1128-745x493.jpg" alt="Pantry Organizers" class="wp-image-81501" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/KvO7T03G-IMG_1128-300x200.jpg 300w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/KvO7T03G-IMG_1128-525x350.jpg 525w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/KvO7T03G-IMG_1128.jpg 745w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/KvO7T03G-IMG_1128-600x400.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/KvO7T03G-IMG_1128-260x174.jpg 260w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">Reason #4 &#8211; They&#8217;re Practical</h4>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Beyond the clever design features, there are a lot of practical features to these containers that appeal to me. They’re BPA-free and dishwasher-safe (as long as you wash them in the top rack of your dishwasher.) You can microwave the containers too if you want, just make sure to remove the lids first as they are not microwave-safe. These containers and lids are also fridge- and freezer-safe, which makes them even more versatile.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter"><img decoding="async" width="745" height="960" data-pin-nopin="nopin" data-pin-url="https://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/pantry-storage-containers-set/?tp_image_id=81498" src="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Ivj8s7Ay-IMG_1097edited-745x493.jpg" alt="Pantry Organizers" class="wp-image-81498" srcset="https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Ivj8s7Ay-IMG_1097edited-233x300.jpg 233w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Ivj8s7Ay-IMG_1097edited-272x350.jpg 272w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Ivj8s7Ay-IMG_1097edited-600x773.jpg 600w, https://assets.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2018/03/Ivj8s7Ay-IMG_1097edited.jpg 745w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">I’ve been enjoying <a href="https://jillee.co/p9izfg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">these containers</a> thoroughly since I bought them, and I know that they’re durable enough for me to use for years to come. And when I want to store something else in them, I can just pull out my label maker, print a new label, and voila! :-) </p>
