New SuiteApp provides users with one-click access to all their apps

NETSUITE SUITEWORLD 2013, SAN JOSE, Calif. – May 15, 2013 – OneLogin, the innovator in enterprise identity management, today announced the availability of the OneLogin SuiteApp, built using NetSuite’s SuiteCloud Computing Platform. The free OneLogin SuiteApp enables enterprises to easily connect their internal Active Directory or LDAP server to NetSuite, synchronize users in real-time, deploys single sign-on (SSO) at the office or on-the-go, and enforces multi-factor authentication. The new SuiteApp comes pre-integrated with a range of applications, authentication methods, directories, VPNs and SAML Tools, so NetSuite customers can get up and running in minutes with no professional services required.

NetSuite’s SuiteCloud is a comprehensive offering of cloud-based products, development tools, and services designed to help customers and commercial software developers take advantage of the significant economic benefits of cloud computing. The complete SuiteCloud offering includes NetSuite’s multi-tenant, always-on SaaS infrastructure and the NetSuite Business Suite of applications which cover accounting, enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM) and Ecommerce.

“SaaS to SaaS and Saas to on-premise integration is becoming more prevalent, creating a need for cloud-based identity management and single sign-on,” said Guido Haarmans, Vice President of Business Development for Technology Partnerships at NetSuite. “Active Directory and LDAP are predominant identity user stores and with the OneLogin SuiteApp, NetSuite customers can now easily leverage their existing directory infrastructure to manage access to NetSuite and other cloud applications.

Working with NetSuite

The free OneLogin SuiteApp gives IT administrators a single point of control for managing users across various locations. With the OneLogin SuiteApp, there is a reduction of time and costs to access the SuiteCloud platform, and it eliminates the need for users to juggle multiple passwords and usernames.

“We designed our Cloud ISV Partner Program to help SaaS vendors remove the challenge of integrating their cloud applications with on-premise directories like Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP and fully take advantage of the benefits of single sign-on and user provisioning,” said Thomas Pedersen, Chief Executive Officer of OneLogin.

Single sign-on (SSO) uses centralized authentication servers that all other applications and systems utilize for authentication purposes, and combines this with techniques to ensure that users do not have to manually enter their credentials more than once. SSO overcomes password fatigue where users tend to use the same username and password, not realizing that if one vendor is compromised, accounts on other systems are put at risk too. Additionally, having to type in user names and passwords over and over again can significantly reduce an employee’s productivity.

Benefits of SSO include:

Users can login in once and bypass the login process for all web applications that are configured for SSO

IT organizations can centralize access control to one location where password policies can be enforced and users can be disabled across all applications

Provides enhanced password security since user passwords are only exchanged between the web browser and the chosen Identity Provider (IdP)

Users don’t have to remember multiple usernames and passwords: SSO ensures password authority for many applications

Benefits of the OneLogin SuiteApp:

Instant On – OneLogin is entirely cloud-based and allows you to get up and running in minutes. No software to install, no appliances, no firewall changes

Single sign-on (SSO) – users can sign into NetSuite with their existing network credentials
<li<Directory integration - sync NetSuite users in real-time with Active Directory or LDAP

NetSuite on your iPad – securely access NetSuite and other cloud apps on your iPad

Automate user provisioning with entitlements – automatically provision users with their proper NetSuite privileges

Company Recognized for Creating New Opportunities in On-Demand Software, Cloud Computing, and SaaS

San Francisco, CA – May 13, 2013 – OneLogin, the innovator in identity management, today announced it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the OnDemand Top 100 winners. Inclusion in the OnDemand 100 signifies leadership amongst its peers and game-changing approaches and technologies that are likely to disrupt existing markets and entrenched players. OneLogin was specially selected by the AlwaysOn editorial team and industry experts spanning the globe based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value, and media buzz.

OneLogin and the OnDemand Top 100 companies will be honored at AlwaysOn’s OnDemand event on May 20th, 2013, at Hewlett-Packard’s Executive Briefing Center in Palo Alto, CA.

This two-day exclusive event treats attendees to a high-level debate and discourse on top trends and opportunities in the SaaS, cloud, on-demand, and mobile enterprise sectors.

“The world of the cloud is beginning to live up to its promise of expanding and enhancing almost every sector of the technology world. Public, private, and hybrid, the cloud infrastructure companies that can provide the most robust, always-on performance are the ones that are propelling us into a completely new digital age,” says Tony Perkins, founder and editor of AlwaysOn. “This year’s OnDemand 100 winners represent the companies that are not only providing the space to develop daring, indispensible applications for a growing and increasingly mobile universe, they’re making sure that everyone has their information, data, media, and apps whenever and wherever they happen to be. The innovations these companies are developing goes beyond consumer, beyond business enterprise—it’s the future, in the palm of your hand, on your desktop, in your car. The on-demand paradigm is computing, and the Global Silicon Valley has never been more ready to take on its challenge.”

The OnDemand 100 winners were selected from among hundreds of other technology companies nominated by investors, bankers, journalists, and industry insiders. The AlwaysOn editorial team conducted a rigorous three-month selection process to finalize the 2013 list.

OneLogin provides a cloud-based Identity access management (IAM) product that offers simple single sign-on (SSO), making it easier for companies to secure and manage access to applications. As part of the OneLogin product, the company also handles IAM challenges like directory integration, provisioning and strong authentication. This approach helps companies overcome some of the time and cost hurdles that have stopped IAM projects in their tracks, or led to significant additional costs being incurred. OneLogin was recently ranked highest in Network World Magazine’s review of eight SSO tools to automate the logins of enterprise applications and improve password complexity.

A full list of all the OnDemand 100 winners can be found on the AlwaysOn website at:

“As organizations increasingly recognize the benefits of cloud-based computing, our team continues to innovate with products that make working in the cloud more secure, simple and productive,” said Thomas Pedersen, chief executive officer of OneLogin. “It’s extremely gratifying to be recognized by AlwaysOn as a leader in our field.”

One of the exciting things about being the CTO of OneLogin is that I’m constantly learning about fantastic cloud applications to boost IT performance and security. There are now cloud applications for IT teams of every size and focus.

For example, in the world of software development, there are now cloud-based apps to help build security into your app from day one. Take SD Elements, which is kind of like tax planning software for application security: you describe the technology stack, features and compliance requirements of your system and SD Elements presents you with a series of tailored, prescriptive requirements.

Like many software companies, we rely on the Agile Project Management methodology. Agile is great, but sometimes there are challenges stemming from ‘islands of activities’ and that’s where a cloud-based work and project management solution like Clarizen helps get everyone on the same page. Clarizen centralizes all of your release backlog data, task updates, bugs, documents and communications into a single system.

Once your app goes live, New Relic is the killer app for preventing downtime due to application errors.
New Relic helps you make sense of the noise by allowing you to monitor the metrics that really matter. For example, you can quickly identify application errors, fix the underlying problem, and improve your mean time to resolution (MTTR).

For those IT departments juggling dozens of applications and resources, Innotas provides an integrated platform for both Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and Application Portfolio Management (APM). With so many projects competing for resources, Innotas gives you that holistic view so you can prioritize projects, optimize shared resources, govern core processes, and ensure alignment across your entire IT landscape.

And when things go wrong or end-users need help with a new service they often end up at the IT help desk. That’s where BMC Remedyforce can be a real life saver. Remedyforce is a comprehensive IT service management solution built on the force.com platform. It helps you connect with customers to provide fast, accurate services in a way that optimizes IT efficiency. Of course, with so many services moving to the cloud, many help desks find themselves burdened with password-related tickets, and that’s where OneLogin comes in.

OneLogin reduces password sprawl, and automates password resets and user management so you can free up IT resources for higher value activities. Of course, when it’s time to off board members of your team, it’s important to make sure your sensitive IT and project data remains within your company. OneLogin’s real-time Active Directory and LDAP integration acts as an effective “kill switch” for when IT team members move on.

“We are excited to partner with OneLogin to bring single sign-on, enterprise-class security and seamless directory integration to Dropbox for Business customers.”

Ari Friedland | Head of Business Development, Dropbox for Business

Today, Dropbox for Business announced for the first time its close relationship with OneLogin, along with its full support for SAML-based single sign-on (SSO), which lets users access multiple applications using just one name and password. Dropbox’s support is indicative of SSO’s coming-of-age, and we predict that those who have yet to adopt it will soon move in that direction, just as Dropbox has. It also highlights the ever-increasing usage of cloud apps like Dropbox by global enterprise. In fact, our 2013 State of Cloud Adoption Access Study – based on a survey of IT decision makers – found that 78 percent of respondents planned to increase the number of cloud applications in their organizations this year.

The Dropbox and OneLogin Partnership

Dropbox is a member of OneLogin’s Cloud ISV Partner Program and our strong partnership spans executive management, engineering, sales, and support. This close collaboration has helped OneLogin deliver the most comprehensive Dropbox identity and access management solution on the market today. Perhaps best of all, OneLogin for Dropbox Business is free.

SAML Rising

Alongside the increase in cloud apps within the enterprise, SSO has enjoyed a rapid adoption rate among enterprises of various sizes due to a few key benefits, including the fact that it significantly reduces inbound calls to IT help desks and improves worker productivity by removing the onerous task of having to track multiple passwords for multiple enterprise apps. It also minimizes security risks in an enterprise environment where 43 percent of IT managers admit that employees are managing passwords in spreadsheets or, worse, Post-It Notes (another finding from our study).

However, the news is significant for a host of other reasons. SSO leverages Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), an XML-based open standard data format for exchanging authentication and authorization data between an identity provider and a service provider. By adopting this open standard, Dropbox is making life easier for end users while at the same time allowing IT to tightly control employee access to the application – which is the biggest advantage of the SAML standard.

More Secure?

Another benefit: SAML’s unique properties increase overall security. The mathematical principles behind SAML are quite strong and are also used in asymmetric encryption. Identity providers issue key pairs (public/private) and makes the public key available to the applications enterprise users are signing into. At the same time, the private key can be used to provide XML-based security assertions with digital signature, at which point the assertion is delivered to the intended app via an employee’s browser. The app is then able to verify via the public key that a given user’s security assertion is permitted, which leads to successful sign-on on the part of the user.

When a company like Dropbox jumps on the SAML bandwagon, it becomes a significant validation that cloud application security and ease of use can be mutually reinforcing. IT departments and end users both win.

“OneLogin is unique in the marketplace. Tight security controls yet with a really clean interface. Easy on the eyes. Easy to navigate. And a 100% reliable service.”

Michael Litz | Director of Information Services

As an evangelical non-profit organization, Awana needs to stretch every dollar it receives. So when the Illinois-based organization began adding low-cost cloud applications to its IT environment for its 700 missionaries to access anytime, anywhere, Awana’s director of information services Michael Litz knew that a standard password management system wouldn’t do.

The Challenges of Awana’s Cloud Strategy

“We put any application we can in the cloud so it had become really difficult to be able to keep track of all of our employees’ different logins and password requirements,” recalls Litz.

For starters, Awana’s entire IT department is a two-man crew, responsible for fielding hundreds of requests per month. Taking time out to research and resend logins and passwords was significantly impacting productivity. At the same time, onboarding new cloud applications such as Salesforce, Box and Intacct ERP required building out each system with passwords for each of the organization’s 700 missionaries – a time- consuming and mind-numbing endeavor.

Extending Active Directory to Public Cloud Apps

Awana previously relied on a single sign-on solution but security concerns, problems synchronizing with Active Directory and limited functionality prompted the organization to rethink its approach. Intent on achieving safe and simple access to its cloud-based apps, Awana turned to OneLogin for its single sign-on solution.

Because OneLogin supports Active Directory, Awana can instantly authenticate users on a new cloud application in one fell swoop rather than have to build out an entire system. “Each time we add an internal application, we don’t have to set people’s passwords,” says Litz. “The system syncs it for them so employees can simply log into the system the same way they do every morning.”

SAML Toolkits for Custom Built Applications

Awana uses OneLogin’s pre-integrations for public apps and its SAML Toolkits and APIs to add single sign- on capabilities to internal custom built applications. Rather than log in to each application independently using different IDs and passwords, Awana’s missionaries now sign in once to multiple apps by clicking a an app icon within the OneLogin portal.

80% Reduction in Help Desk Costs

Using OneLogin, Awana has been able to eliminate the need to constantly reset passwords on behalf of forgetful workers, reducing the number of calls its help desk receives by a whopping 80 percent. User login and get a consistent and secure single sign on experience for both internal and public web applications.

Last month, Thomas and I had a briefing with Sally Hudson, IDC’s lead research director covering identity and access management (IAM) products. IDC sees strong growth in what it calls the IAM SaaS market: $702.7 million in 2011, reaching $1.4 billion by 2016.

So, what are some of the trends driving the growth of cloud-based single sign on IAM products like OneLogin? Here’s our take on the key market trends that helped drive our 400% explosive growth in 2012 and what we’re hearing as key drivers and trends in SaaS IAM adoption within our 700+ enterprise customers.

Key Market Trends Driving Demand for OneLogin

As more sales and support functions move to the cloud, enterprises want SSO for their external users as well.

Cloud SSO is often led by the corporation’s adoption of a key SaaS application.

Many customers want to avoid directly dealing with Microsoft ADFS.

OneLogin is implemented to coexist with legacy IAM.

A shift from hardware tokens to soft tokens is taking place in some organizations due to
perceived lower costs and management requirements.

Strong demand for SAML is coming from SaaS vendors. Approximately 70 SaaS vendors have implemented OneLogin’s open source SAML toolkits.

User provisioning and de-provisioning become more important as more users have SaaS applications.

Enterprises want to connect their directory infrastructure to the cloud.

I’ve learned a few things over the years, about technology, people, companies and customers. When choosing my next adventure, I was set on four things: (#1) joining a company that has product-market fit (#2) joining a great team, (#3) going somewhere I can add a ton of value, and (#4) building something important. Some thoughts on these:

#1

Finding product market fit is really, really hard — really fun, but really hard. During short meetings I had with OneLogin, great customers kept signing up, as I sat there and watched. Definitely post fit.

#2

I wanted a team that ran on trust and empowerment, had a bias for speed and success, but most importantly, was customer centric. More on that below.

#3

I have been working with identity problems in the enterprise as a matter of course over 15 years. Because customers needed it for the other value I was delivering. At Plumtree/BEA we knitted together hundreds of systems for customers, at SAP we were bridging the cloud and enterprise worlds in seamless ways. And in both places I loved building product and engineering teams to create ecstatic customers.

#4

Identity management not only addresses a critical need for companies, it opens the door to huge additional value that we can explore over time.

Customer Centricity

There is a lot of ink around the concept “customer centric” these days, even though it is not a new notion. There are many ways to define it, but mine will be brief: having a burning desire to make your customers successful. Because to rip through an industry you need to build on a base of passion, and that has to come from your customer community.

The beauty of this criterion is I can evaluate a company on it quickly, from multiple reference points:

I listen to every word that is said. Regardless of whom I was talking to at OneLogin, the conversation was peppered with customer stories, and these stories clearly meant something to the person speaking.

I see if customers describe great customer service without being prompted – it is rare enough that they will if there is reason to. And customers love OneLogin, citing the fantastic support again and again.

I engage with the company myself to get a secret shopper viewpoint. Bonus: this can be a lot of fun.

All reference points told a common story – OneLogin is relentlessly customer driven. Which explains their amazing customer retention, perhaps the most critical metric of any SaaS company.

Building Something Important

When I was at SAP, security was a very serious consideration. As a result, officially employees were not allowed to use unauthorized cloud applications – otherwise company secrets could be compromised. So the classic “shadow IT” scenario flourished – we used plenty of cloud systems, below the radar.

As cloud apps have penetrated almost every company, both above and below the radar, companies need to empower their employees to be productive with these tools, yet manage the real security threat that proper identity management solves. Enter OneLogin – trivial to set up (I set it up on my Google App domain in minutes), yet deeply powerful. From Single Sign On, to provisioning and de-provisioning of applications, to SOX compliance, it gets it done with ease.

But that is just the beginning.

Once you have the federated identity situation nailed, all sorts of value can be layered on top. For example, take federated search. Using your various identities across your apps, now you can search for documents and information regardless of where they live. This doesn’t require complex index building, just issuing parallel queries to the various apps, using your identity in each query. At UniversityNow, I never remembered whether a document was in Yammer or Box or Dropbox, and with a solution like this I wouldn’t need to.

And so…

For a technology company to be relevant 10 or 100 years from now, it needs to provide a critical utility around which value will concentrate — enterprise identity is one such utility. It also needs to be customer centric, with evidence of speed and agility. All of which rings true at OneLogin. So I’m thrilled that I’ve begun my next adventure here. And I’m already having fun.

Hieg Khatcherian | Manager of Information Systems at Vision Critical

I recently had the opportunity to speak with Hieg Khatcherian, Manager of Information Systems at
Vision Critical, about how he’s using Active Directory and OneLogin to increase security and employee productivity. For those of you that don’t know, Vision Critical is the world’s leading provider of insight communities, currently supporting over 650 brands worldwide including one third of the world’s top 100 brands. With offices across the globe in North America, Europe, Australia and Hong Kong, Vision Critical leads the world in interactive research.

Using OneLogin, Vision Critical quickly extended Active Directory to the Cloud, providing access to applications through a secure portal, eliminating the costs and resources associated with managing passwords and resolving password-related issues.

Connecting Active Directory to a dozen cloud applications

Vision Critical employees access about a dozen different SaaS-based applications daily. The company was managing passwords manually, and needed a simpler, less time-consuming solution that would extend Active Directory to those cloud-based applications. “I didn’t want users to have to know more than one path to get to the apps they needed,” said Khatcherian.

Another driver was ensuring security during user provisioning and de-provisioning. “When a person leaves the company, I wanted to be able to turn off access to all apps at once.” Khatcherian’s team evaluated several solutions, including Ping and Symplified, but decided on OneLogin because of its ease of use and simple integration.

“The on-premise solutions, even the ones that had cloud add-ons, were too cumbersome and costly to integrate with our cloud applications,” said Khatcherian. “We wanted it to be easy.”

Rolling out Active Directory and OneLogin

Vision Critical deployed OneLogin in June of 2011, eliminating the burden and security risk of individual passwords. “To start, we rolled out Citrix ShareFile across the entire enterprise without any problems. The rest of our apps quickly followed, and all authentication is now handled by OneLogin,” said Khatcherian.

Group-based sign-on provides access control via Active Directory

OneLogin enables Khatcherian’s team to control access to any SaaS-based application via Active Directory. Employees can access Parature, Citrix ShareFile, AtTask, WebEx, SalesForce.com, Marketo, Twitter, HootSuite and other apps through a single link on a secure portal. The portal sits inside the firewall and access to individual applications is authenticated by a Windows group logon. Access can be organized by business unit or group, such as Sales, Marketing or Operations.

“I love being able to assign applications to OneLogin Groups, because it allows me to control access to each application via Active Directory,” said Khatcherian.

Eliminating password proliferation while providing one-click access to apps

Using OneLogin, Vision Critical’s IT team has eliminated the hassle associated with managing passwords while providing a streamlined, simplified way for employees to access their SaaS-based applications. Khatcherian can now provide Vision Critical employees with a single point of entry for all the company’s business applications.

“The OneLogin portal allows us to consolidate everything into a single dashboard and eliminates password proliferation and provides our users with easy access to the applications they need the most. And, if someone leaves the company, I can turn off access to all apps at once. That’s both good security and good housekeeping.”
