Ok so I have not kept up really well but it has been a rather intersting year so far. So here goes a little update about where I am at and what I am doing...
I searched and found a position as an Assistant Professor at a University in Missouri, Northwest Missouri State University. With that I left the state of Texas in June and moved myself and my daughter to another state for another adventure. I am teaching several different courses in biology here. As with any new position I am staying busy discovering the nuances associated with a new place and a new job, but it is good to be back in the classroom. It has I can admit been one of the best decisions I have made in a long while.
The school is located in a small town about 90 miles north of Kansas City called Maryville. It is nice and quiet here which is nice. I am enjoying it as it is small enough to be quiet but close enough to large cities to explore and have some culture to enjoy. It is a great place. I will post pictures of my travels through the area as I get to them. I will try and make this a better place to view what is going on and to keep involved in what I am finding..

It has been a one heck of a week or so since my last post. I got my son on a plane out of here and back to Corpus. It was a fantastic visit though and I enjoyed having him here for the holidays even if it did result in a plethora of video game playing. He is surely missed though.

On Thursday January 3rd a friend of mine decided we should go and do some field work in the Desert. Of course I was game as I am always game for going to the field and seeing what we can find. This trip turned out to be particularly memorable . One of those things on my bucket list to do in my time is to go camping in the snow. Now in my vision of accomplishing this I would drive to oh lets say....Colorado and enjoy the mountains.

Never did it cross my mind to accomplish this in the Chihuahuan dessert. As you can see it was a very cold trip but a good time none the less. We managed to get out the game cams he wanted to set though not in exactly the places he had hoped too. It was an excellent chance to get some rather unique photographs of this beautiful place.

This is a beautiful area and I hope to make another trip down there in more favorable conditions for hiking, trapping and photography.

I suppose that this is the beginning of my newest story. It is here that I will post (hopefully on a weekly basis) what, where and when I am doing things that will tell the story of who I am and where I am going. Not always exciting I am sure but then life cant always be exciting but rather takes those mundane moments to for life to be exciting. For without those mundane moments the exciting moments cease to be exciting.
This week started off the arrival of Christmas. Was the first Christmas that I have not spent with extended family around, it was just my daughter and myself. Didnt really feel like Christmas but she and I had a good time just relaxing around the house and watching some TV. On Thursday Michael my son flew in for a visit and it is nice to have him around. Seems like as time goes on I get to see less and less of him. So far that has been the excitement of this week. I am sure that we will find some fun things to get into this weekend and enjoy each others company.
I suppose that is about all I have for this first post but I will try and add more at a later time.
