Slow feeder lick mats for dogs and slow feeder dog bowls come in all shapes and sizes. They’re cheap floppy pieces are junk made of thin rubber and fall apart after a few chews from your pup. And the bowls always flip over and simply don’t work. But this lickmat is the best!

We came across this lick mat product and had to gave it a try. This review is for all our gadget loving pet owners out there.

First off, we were really impressed with the quality. The retail price is 18.99 but it’s introductory price an absolute steal worth getting.

The Lick ‘n Pawse slow feeder is made of thick durable silicone, is dishwasher safe and suctions to any smooth surfaces. We tried it on the hardwood floors and it didn’t budge. It also has a nicely designed tab located in the corner to help unsuction the lickmat from bathtubs and other places its stuck to.

The Lick ‘n Pawse slow feeder for dogs is also suitable for cats because of it’s unique shape and grooves. You can also use it as a plate for yourself if you find yourself eating mammas cooking just a little too quickly. Compared to others, this lick mat is beautifully designed and durable and our most favorite one on the market. These non-slip placemats really do stick to the table. And we know sticky stuff. Kid’s little fingers are no match for them. They can try but they are quite grippy on smooth surfaces. We also tried it on the wood and it hung on pretty hard! (for most of the mealtime). Besides the great colours and it’s grip we love that silicone is pure and healthy, 100% BPA free and FDA approved, non-toxic and microwave and dishwasher safe. Did we mention these are designed with a spill guard edge? What, me spill? Never.

Another great feature of this high quality product is that when packing these up in the baby bag they always keep their shape no matter how you fold ’em. You can roll them up or squish ’em in and they always bounce back to their original flat wonderful selves.

Big consumer demand means the flood gates have opened for copy cat products, knockoffs and as an online shopper it’s very easy to get ripped off!

So why is silicone suddenly so popular if it’s just another form of plastic? Well, Silicone is a little different. It’s produced with silica sand and when created properly it’s BPA Free, Non Toxic and almost endlessly reusable for all sorts of storage needs. Where you’d normally go through thousands of single-use plastic baggies in a year or two, they can all be replaced with just one good quality silicone bag. Sounds pretty good right?

Let’s begin! After trying many different silicone bags from Amazon we compiled a list of the most unique brands that have quickly rose to the top.

ReZip Lay Flat Storage Bags

ReZip is fairly new to the scene and have products that are the most alike a regular plastic baggy. For being silicone they still feel closer to plastic. We haven’t chemically tested the bag but they claim they are BPA free. Unlike baggies the smaller sizes can stand-up which works well for using them to eat out of.

Overall it’s not bad. If you are attached to plastic bags and don’t want to stray too far away from the feel of plasic they do the job.
Price: 5 pack for 19.99
Quality: They feel OK, about a 6 out of 10. I wouldn’t microwave these or store any liquids in them. Even thought the zip top feels tight, it wasn’t and I still feel like there might be some plastic in the material, but that isn’t confirmed.
Aesthetic: The colours are great and the translucency is helpful to see whats inside.
Buyability: I wouldn’t buy these bags for most uses, they are pretty hard to wash and not super easy to dry but if you want to use them for a road trip they’d work quite well.

Slide ‘n Seal Reusable Pouches

Slide ‘N Seal reusable pouches are a brand that seems to be doing everything right. They are relatively new but they caught our attention since they were so different than everything out there and we wanted to give them a try.

We were glad we tried them out because they instantly became our favorite. They are a bit of a hybrid between containers and baggies, which is why they are in the container pouch category. These pouches come in various sizes for all sorts of uses like the cups for liquids, bowls for cereals, salads and travel items, and of course a sandwich bag and snack bag size for all sorts of goodies. The cool thing about these is they stand up and are dishwasher safe so they are super easy to clean. They are also microwave safe and are thick and durable, non toxic and are pretty enough to be used for so much more than just food.

Price: For the 8 pack it’s around $24.99 which is a great deal.
Quality: The best quality we’ve come across. They come with seal bars and once the bar is on it’s a nice airtight seal.
Aesthetic: The Slide ‘n Seal only seems to make them in blue right now but it’s pretty and reminds me of the ocean we’re saving when we’re using them!
Buyability: This one is a no brainer. I expect we’ll see this as a top seller on amazon in no time and they’ll have a lot of copycats once they get there.

Because these are quickly and quietly becoming the Stasher alternative we pick Slide ‘n Seal as the best silicone reusable bag that’s out there.

Stasher Bags

Stasher bags were certainly not the first silicone bags out there, but they are the most unique and well known of the brands. They are also quite overrated but large amount of money is being spent on advertising and that’s keeping them top of mind.

The best thing about these bags are their bright fun colours. The color helps them show the product as a fun lifestyle product to the masses. It’s functionality however is questionable. When we tried to fit things inside the bag opening it wasn’t easy. It also wasn’t very easy to close. The seal left us wishing they were more leakproof and airtight as it didn’t seem to snap in place or feel secure. For a patented design I imagine they will eventually, or SHOULD improve this over time.

Price: Expensive! We couldn’t believe how pricey these were. One bag for 12.99! Sure, you’ll use it awhile but wow, it’s this price and people are still buying it! The power of colour bags and advertising!
Quality: The silicone quality is top notch. The seal is not. The design is OK, but they don’t stand up so they are really only good for transporting food, as long as it’s not a liquid!
Aesthetic: Beautiful, ten out of ten. Definitely one of the nicest looking bags and bag sets out there.
Buyability: As we said earlier, these are very hyped, so they are over priced. You buy these bags and you are basically paying for their advertising. We’ve read some reviews that these bags form mold because of their design and how they can’t dry properly. I can see why this could happen but it hasn’t happened to us yet. If you have money like Zoey Dechannel and other celebs then have at it, get the whole set. You’ll still be helping the planet.

HomeLux Theory Silicone Bags

Homelux Theory is the little brand that could. From what we know, Homelux started as a private label and has a nice selection of sizes and colours available and are one of the current top sellers on amazon.

Price: $24 – $48. The prices vary because there are so many different sizes available to purchase. Probably too many sizes to choose from really, but at least they all have nice coloured seal bars. We’ve discovered that real silicone can have a zip lock top but it’s never truly sealed and airtight until it’s sealed with a seal bar. Homelux silicone bags are microwaveable and great for sous-vide and freezing. They are still not super easy to clean. The seal bar is a little weak and the corners are sharp, if you are not careful you could pierce the bags.
Quality: These are thinner than we expected which makes them very prone to breaking.
Aesthetic: Beautiful colored seal bars, nicely printed logo on the bag and stand up feature.
Buyability: Hard to clean and easily damaged but great for all uses and comes in many sizes.

Clever4You

Probably a brand you’ve never heard of but we wanted to review it because they bundle it with something new and they are hot sellers. It’s a piece of plastic that you use to prop your bag up so you can fill it easily. Seriously, we cannot believe people are buying plastic things that they won’t use especially when this product is supposed to reduce plastic waste. Clever, right?

Price: These are relatively cheap in price and similar are all over amazon.
Quality: The quality is poor and we can’t believe these are silicone. We majorly doubt these products are 100% silicone so we will be doing further research on this product soon and update this post when it’s complete.
Aesthetic: They are very thin, they don’t stand up and the logo could use a bit of that professional touch.
Buyability: Even though these are a top product, we think that with other options out there it’s worth shopping around before deciding to buy.

We tried out these Slide ‘n Seal pouches and were impressed. Not only are they nesting for easy storage, but they are BPA-Free and FDA approved and made from the highest quality silicone around which is a thumbs-up in our book.

Here are some of their basic features:

• ECO-FRIENDLY: Reusable bags save the oceans. People throw hundreds of plastic bags away every year and that sucks. Switching to these bags is easy to do and in the long run save you money. But you’re doing it to save the world anyway, right?
• FREEZE + PRESERVE: We like how these are ideal for freezing meats, veggies and fruits, especially bananas for smoothies, which freeze really well. The ziplock closure with sliding bar creates an airtight seal to keep things fresher longer. It’s also totally leakproof for stocks and other liquids, and whatever those liquids are is your business.
• STAND-UP DESIGN: They are great because they stand up and are easy to fill. Remove the seal bar and simply pop it in your dishwasher on the bottom rack to clean. YES. Easy. To. Clean. Dishwasher-safe. No excuses now.
• REHEAT MEALS: Remove the seal bar and open up the bag to reheat food. I just take these straight from the freezer and remove the bar and add a bit of water and I steam broccoli in them all the time. Works like a charm.
• MANY USES: Take them hiking, camping, fishing or anywhere. Perfect for snacks, sandwiches and lunches. Makeup for travel, toothbrush, toothpaste, organs….

I personally have tried to be a bit healthier lately, instead of hotdogs and sloppy joes, extra sloppy, I’ve decided to partake in the odd salad. But it’s not that odd at all. In fact, it’s healthy, and these days that’s normal. And I can add my oil dressing and give it a shake and the lettuce is still crispy and fresh. Impressed? Yes, I’m wiggling my eyebrows here.
