A big thank you from the One to One Project team of staff, volunteers and clients, for this fantastic award which will help us carry our work into the future.

The images in the current gallery were taken at our recent Open Day, where we invited everyone to come and celebrate with us, whilst finding out more about our project.

We are delighted to announce that our project has been successful in securing Big Lottery funding from the Reaching Communities Fund.

Staff, trustees, volunteers and clients at the One to One Project are over the moon! The Project has been awarded Big Lottery Reaching Communities Funding, covering approximately 70% of running costs for the next 5 years, that’s £330,000 in total!

The One to One Project provides free long term Counselling, Mentoring and Group Work services to a vast number of clients with complex mental health needs, giving an enormous 2036 hours of free support last year alone.

With 24 highly skilled volunteer counsellors and mentors, these services have continued at our premises in North Lynn, as well as our three outreach venues in Terrington St. Clement, Downham Market and Swaffham. Delivering services in rural areas has meant that those clients who are isolated can access the support they would otherwise have been denied.

It is rare for counselling courses/training to explore sexual feelings in relating to clients or which clients express towards their therapists.

For some practitioners this can lead to a sense that something is wrong if those feelings emerge in themselves in their work or in clients who have sexual feelings towards them.

In such close relationships it seems natural that sometimes there will be attractions and sometimes they  ill be of a sexual nature. What do we do about that and how do we process those feelings will be the focus of our work during this day.

Jan is a renowned author (Voices of the Voiceless) therapist, supervisor and trainer with a background of training in a variety of approaches to counselling. This led her to coming home in the Person-Centred Approach where her work has been firmly rooted for the last twenty years.
