Bug in Firebug with Firefox 2.0.0.12

With the latest stable version of Firefox and Firebug (1.0.5), I’ve been having problems when inspecting anchor tags. The CSS/styles set for anchors don’t display in Firebug’s window. It just shows the styles for body or other parent elements of the link.

As a temporary fix, I’ve installed a beta version of Firebug, which is available here. It’s up to you whether inspecting a link’s CSS is important enough to run the beta version of Firebug.

And yes, doing “website stuff” is one of the main reasons I never write anymore.

I’ve been hammering away at a new version of this site, while trying my best to keep everything the same. I’ve spent hours upgrading and re-coding things behind the scenes, but made minimal changes in what you actually see.

I’m also working on moving the entire movies page into the database so I can make it look neater than it currently does (this will probably be the most notable change once I’m finished with it).

It’s been nearly four years since comments were closed on this website, but now they’re back. Have at it!

something old that’s new

I’ve released a new blog - my first blog collaboration in over six years if I remember correctly. It’s called cut and taste and it’s a (fun) blog all about food. The current writers include myself, my girlfriend (Annie) and our friend, Ana. Hope to see you there.

While going through my snail mail (also known as my junk mail), I opened an envelope that was notifying me about a limited time offer, accept-this-or-die-of-inside/out-skin-failure-disease, pre-approved credit card: a Platinum VISA. It had a credit line of $200.

These credit card companies are throwing around more useless titles and buzz words than a brand new start-up company. Call me a rich bastard stickler who feels the need to segregate poor individuals, but $200 hardly seems deserving of the “platinum” title. I’m shocked and appalled. My damn monocle nearly fell out.

What do the gold card members get now? A fellow with multi-colored hair who tags along and lets you borrow from a pocket full of coins?

I’m not impressed, VISA. You’ll be hearing from my Chief Personal Assistant/Outside Communications Director soon enough.

No, it’s not the username of a foxy lady (who just might be a dude in disguise) that’s been pestering me for my phone number the past couple of days. It’s actually the file name that shows up for the Kiss The Girls DVD when you put it in your computer. Something tells me whoever created the DVD was still a junior high school kid at heart.

Alarming

I’m sitting in my girlfriend’s condo (well it’s not hers, but you know what I mean) all by my lonesome. For the past 30 minutes, I’ve been trying my very best to ignore an ear-drum piercing emergency alarm that’s been echoing throughout the complex. My girlfriend says that it’s nothing to worry about and that the sound will cease soon. The annoyance meter is off the charts at the moment. Too bad emergency alarms don’t come with a snooze button.

I think I’ll ignore the fact that the guy is talking about stealing a design element from Bryan (which is incredibly lame). Instead, his post urged me to write a message to anyone who writes anything for public consumption on the internet: Please spell your goddamn words correctly.

I fear that the more I’m bombarded by sloppy-ass spelling on the internet, the more likely I will be to make those same mistakes.

I saw someone type the word(s), “orphan edges” earlier today. I guess I can’t be too concerned with someone who doesn’t know that orphanages is a single word when the guy I quoted earlier fucked up the word look twice in one post and can’t tell the difference between once and ones.

Maybe I just expect more from everyone who didn’t fail their English class in high school. (It wasn’t my fault, damnit. Mrs. Wilson was totally out to get me!)
