Blitz1941 is a free massively multiplayer online role playing game from eFusion. The Blitz MMORPG is a two dimensional free tank game based on World War 2. Up to three thousand players per server can compete in large combat situations in this tank MMORPG.

Blitz1941 recently launched following an open beta test. Upgrade your tank and use real time strategy online to engage in 15 European cities. Work in teams of up to 200 tanks in the game. There is an item shop now online with new maps and patches in place.

Global Agenda is running another closed beta test from 11:00 am PST until midnight PST on Saturday and Sunday, November 14, 2009 until November 15, 2009. Of course the number testers is very limited. You can thank Hi-Rez Studios for that. No official release date has been announced but it will be in the first quarter of 2010.

The Global Agenda massively multiplayer online role playing game is also holding a developer chat on November 18, 2009 on Facebook and using Vivox Voice. You do need to RSVP and there are only 75 spots available.

In August we wrote that the Delay of Starcraft 2 was a good thing. This was primarily so Battle.net could be upgraded since Starcraft 2 would no longer support lan play and well LAN parties suck.

But now I am not so sure. Blizzard has announced that Starcraft II will not launch until the second quarter of 2010. That is one heck of a delay. A beta launch date has not been announced and Diablo III was not included in a 2010 schedule according to Blizzard president Mike Morhaime. That is even worse news for Diablo III as it will have to contend with the very similar Torchlight RPG which has already launched.

We have writen before about Modern Warfare 2. It looks like this popular Call of Duty first person shooter will be popular at the box office as well when they make a Call of Duty Movie. Why do I say that you ask? Why because Modern Warfare 2 sold almost 5 million units in the first 24 hours.

The actual number was 4.7 million across North America and the United Kingdom. Activisioin Chief Executive Officer Mike Griffith said “Modern Warfare 2 has taken interactive experience to unprecedented heights setting a new standard for entertainment.” Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 sold over $310 million in the first day on November 12, 2009. This makes it the biggest launch in history. Over ten thousand retail outlets carried the game in the United States.

You may have missed Darkfall Online’s first dynamic lore event. The Rise of the Ul’Tannek took place in the Darkfall Online massively multiplayer online role playing game on Nevember 4, 2009. It was the first official event to use the Darkfall Dynamic Lore System.

Basically the outcome of the event determines what player names and clans are used in Quests in the game as well as future events. They can inspire storyline development. This is leading up to the expansion “Conquer the Seas”.

Dragon Age Origins is a single player role playing game from BioWare and Electronic Arts for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. It was released on November 3, 2009. Dragon Age: Origins uses the Eclipse game engine and has three classes of rogue, warrior, and mage. There are four major races in Elf, Human, Dwarf, and Darkspawn. The game is available in multiple languages and is hailed as the next Baldur’s Gate.

The Dragon Age: Origins toolset was just released as well. The toolset allows you to create your own content such as full campaigns, cut scenes, and dungeons crawls.

Bioware has added downloadable content and this deep game makes for many hours of gameplay.

With beautiful graphics, a ton of content, and a good score on MetaCritc it is no surprise that Aion Online has sold like gang-busters. We reported earlier that Aion would do $70 million with 400,000 pre-orders

Not quite two months later it has been announced that NCsoft has sold 500K unites in North America and 470K in Europe. This means that Aion Online has already made $49,990,000 and should easily make that $70 million mark in the first year with ongoing subscriptions of $14.99. This was calculated using the $49.99 standard prize but do not forget that many orders were placed with the premium collectors edition at a higher price.

Aion continues to expand with Patch 1.5.1 which included new content, bug fixes, and user interface improvements.

Aion Online truely can “Fly” and is “Flying” off the shelves.

Rumors have been swirling of massive layoffs at Mythic Entertainment and other development studios under Electronic Arts such as Tiburon and Black Box Studios. Mythic Entertainment is perhaps most famous for the Warhammer Online MMORPG.

Initial reports hint at up to 80 layoffs from Mythic which could be as much as 40% of the developer staff. Hundreds of other employees from other development studios are included. EA recently completed a purchase of Playfish social gaming publisher for $300 million.

John Schappert from EA announced that over 12 titles in development have been cut from production as part of a cost reduction plan in a “targeted cost reduction which will allow a greater investment in our hit titles and digital businesses.”

It looks like the final tally is 1500 jobs being cut from EA. Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello confirmed the number and said it was in response to the quarterly loss of $391 million. Layoffs should be completed by April 2010.

We have written before about the Final Fantasy XIV MMORPG.

It will be almost impossible to get into the Final Fantasy 14 Beta test. But the FFXIVCore fan site is reporting that purchasing FF XIII will get you a beta spot in FFXIV. This has yet to be confirmed.

Final Fantasy 13 is set to release on December 17, 2009. It seems to make sense and be legitimate. We are just waiting for confirmation.

Planet 51 Online is a free massively multiplayer online role playing game from Zed. It is based on the Planet 51 movie and is available for the PC. The Planet 51 movie launches on November 20, 2009 but the Planet 51 Online MMORPG is already available in open beta version.

The Planet 51 Online game has pets, quests, mini games, and more. The game is rated for kids age 7 and above. You can download the 96 MB client here. Check out the below gameplay trailer. It is about 2 minutes long.

We have written many times about the Runes of Magic massively multiplayer online role playing game and it is even #2 on our list of Top 10 MMORPGs.

We recently saw about 30 minutes of downtime on Friday. Which was not too bad.

We have written several times about the Fallen Earth massively multiplayer online role playing game several times.

Yesterday Fallen Earth announced that they will be developing an iPhone application that allows players to interact limitedly with the game. This is very similar to the World of Warcraft iPhone App.

Expected to release in 2010, the Fallen Earth MMORPG iPhone App from Icarus Studios Inc. will allow real time management of their stats, trade skills, stored items, maps, manage a crafting queue, view recipes, buy and sell items, message friends, and more.

We have written about the Spore Movie but now there are even more developments from Electronic Arts. Now available is a Facebook version of Spore.

The word is that social gaming startup PlayFish will be purchased by Electronic Arts. Spore Islands is a new version of the game from Maxis Studio that allows players to create an island and creatures and set them loose to enjoy a natural selection process. It is a 2d version of the game.

It has been some time since we have written about Darkfall Online. Not surprisingly, the Darfall massively multiplayer online role playing game seems to be on a down swing. Aventurine is offering free character transfers for players to move from the Europe server to the North American server. This will last until December 6, 2009. Unfortunately your character looses loot and belongings but retains skills, quests, titles, spells, and alignment.

As further proof of a downturn, Aventurine is offering a 30% discount on 6 months subscription packages until December 6, 2009.

There has not been any other news or updates out of the Darkfall site for months. Even the forum has been sparse on updates. And adventurine finally made a company web site: http://www.aventurine.gr/ “We finally decided to put up a site for the company, something we hadn’t bothered doing all these years. It’s a simple site with information about us and company resources for those interested in Aventurine. There will be updates to it as needed, especially in the News and Jobs sections.”

We have written before that Star Trek Online MMORPG was rumored to release in February. Cryptic and Atari have confirmed that the Star Trek Online massively multiplayer online role playing game will launch on February 2, 2010.

The STO game will release in Europe on February 5, 2010.

We have written before about the much anticipated Star Trek Online massively multiplayer online role playing game. Below is a new high definition gameplay video from Cryptic Studios and Atari.

The word is that the Star Trek Online MMORPG which is currently in beta will have a release date of some time in February.

The video is only about 1 minutes long but it is short and sweet. After a brief intro we see some cool space battles and on the ground fire fights. Most impressive are the Borg ships and the Borg themselves.

We have written before about the Alganon massively multiplayer online role playing game. Quest Online, Inc announced that the Alganon MMORPG was delayed from an October 31 release and a new target release date of December 1, 2009 has been set. The open beta is scheduled for November 11, 2009.

You can pre-order Alganon from Direct2Drive for $39.95. It is unclear what the monthly fee will be at this time.

Dragon Oath is a free massively multiplayer online role playing game from ChangYou Inc. The Dragon Oath MMORPG launched 3 years ago in Asia and has 75 million players. On November 5, 2009 Dragon Oath will be starting an Open Beta in the United States. Dragon Oath is a free-to-play martial arts game set in ancient China. The game includes over 300 martial arts skills and 116 million combinations of weapons. The closed beta in September has had over twenty thousand players.

Dragon Oath also boasts many in game events that run constantly. As many as 100 per day. Many mini-games are included such as chess, bingo, battles, soccer, raids, assaults, and more.

We have written befor about the Mortal Online Beta before. It is a bit suprizing that pre-orders for the Mortal Online massively multiplayer online role playing game started on July 20, 2009 almost 3.5 months ago and yet the beta is still re-tooling and adding features.

The Mortal Online MMORPG is releasing a new beta build today which will include new featues such as building houses, taming and harnessing mounts, and more. The only way to get into the beta is to pre-order the game.

The game is supposed to launch in by the end of 2009 but it does not look very likely that this target date will be reached for a full release.

Mythic has announced that there will no longer be a time limit for the Warhammer Online MMORPG free trial. What was previously a ten day free trial will now be free as long as your character remains at Tier 1 and with no free trial. Because of this recent change we have moved WAR to our number 4 spot on the list of Best Free MMORPG Trials.

There are other restrictions on the free MMORPG trial such as the inability to send mail, creation octions, access to some servers, etc.

Is that the longest title you have ever seen or what?

Maybe it is because Champions Online is Temporarily Free to Play with Blood Moon, but Cryptic is happy to announce that over 1 million characters have been created in the Champions Online MMORPG. The number of paying subscribers was of course not revealed. Players can create multiple characters.

Champions online was launched on September 1, 2009. It still is impressive that so many characters were created just one month after the launch.

Torchlight is a new single player role playing game from Perfect World Entertainment and Runic Games. Dungeons are randomly generated and there are 30 levels and 10-20 hours of main storyline. Since the game launched 24 hours ago the servers have been hit pretty hard and the site is currently down.

The Torchlight RPG is currently available only for Windows PC but a Mac version is in the works. It is available for $19.95 (should have been free). Torchlight is similar to Diablo or Fate in gameplay. One fun feature is a pet which can transform and fight as well as carry items. In 1-1.5 years Runic is planning to release a massively multiplayer online role playing version of the game as well. The Torchlight MMORPG will be free-to-play.
