Good comeback after early frustration

A frustrating yet encouraging display today in the premier league. 4th placed Chelsea twice took the lead against us. And yet, we fought back. Not to mention we were reduced to 10 men early on after former Chelsea defender David Luiz took out Tammy Abraham when he was through on goal after a mistake by Mustafi.

Jorginho put Chelsea ahead a goal from the resulting penalty kick in the 28th minute before Gabriel Martinelli fortunately equalising for us in the second half. Azpilicueta put Chelsea 2-1 up with just six minutes remaining but Arsenal levelled only three minutes later through Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal are in 10th spot and you would have to say it is looking like top 4 is further and further away.

Our boss Mikel Arteta was happy his side's reaction: "To do that against this kind of opponent in this stadium, I really value," he said. "The way they have done it, with the spirit they have done it, that's great."

Since the inaugural season of the Premier League started in 1992, the football in England has grown and grown and is now home to one of the biggest football leagues in the world. Last year’s 2017-18 season was the 26th of the Premier League and was one of the most exciting league seasons in recent years. Although it was essentially a one-horse race for the title, teams played some really exciting season.

The football betting odds on Paddy Power at the start of the season suggested that it would be a very close title race. However, Manchester City demolished everyone in their path and finished 19 points clear of second place Manchester United whilst also reaching the 100 point mark. This was something that hadn’t ever been achieved in the top flight of English football. It wasn’t just the point’s record which Manchester City broke, they also managed break the record for the number of wins (32), most away wins (16), most consecutive league wins (18), and a few more records. Although Manchester City stole the headlines, there was plenty of exciting action happening in the league for fans of all clubs.

Fans of some teams may not have seen football as exciting as Manchester City played, but they were treated to some spectacular individual performances. Fans which turned up to watch Liverpool at Anfield were usually treated to a world class performance from Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward was the main attacking outlet for Liverpool this season, and he rewarded their faith in him by scoring 32 goals in the league this season. Other players which consistently put in world class performances throughout the season include Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, and Leroy Sane.

These players mentioned may be the most recognised and high profile players that performed in the league this season, but there were plenty of other players which put in impressive performances. As the Premier League is one of the largest leagues in the world, it should come as no surprise that a large number of players from the league will be representing their country in Russia this summer.

Three Arsenal Players Who Will Be Key Against Liverpool

Arsenal will face Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League on March 4. With the title challenge now looking like it's over for the Gunners, this match takes huge importance in regard to finishing in the top four.

The North London outfit have finished in the top four of the Premier League in each of Arsene Wenger’s 20 years in charge of the club. Fans will expect nothing less this season, but could there be a surprise in store?

There are no fewer than six teams fighting for four Champions League places. Champions-elect Chelsea are virtually guaranteed a place in the top four, but the three other spots are up for grabs. With Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool all having huge aspirations, Arsenal simply cannot afford to drop all three points against at Anfield.

Liverpool will head into the match on March 4 as favourites and the Kop is expected to play a big role, but fans of the visiting team could counter that by buying Arsenal Tickets from TicketGum. Some are still available, and the players will certainly get more confidence if there is a large away crowd.

The entire Arsenal team have to play well against Liverpool in order to pick up maximum points from the Premier League encounter. Below we look at three players who simply will have to be on top of their game to do that.

Mesut Ozil
Mesut Ozil is one of the best attacking midfielders on the planet and is a world-class player, but his form so far this season has not been as good as it should have been. The Germany international has scored five goals and created 59 chances in 22 Premier League appearances for Arsenal this campaign.

While the stats are not too bad, Ozil has failed to step up his game in big games. In the 3-1 defeat to London rivals Chelsea away from home at Stamford Bridge in early February, the 28-year-old was anonymous. Liverpool are defensively susceptible, and Ozil’s creativity and vision is going to be important if Arsenal are going to score a few goals.

Alexis Sanchez
Much has been made about Alexis Sanchez’s future, but there can be no doubt when he is on the pitch, he is 100% committed to Arsenal. The Chile international forward, who can also operate as a winger, has scored 17 goals and created 63 chances in 25 Premier League matches for the Gunners this season.

Sanchez is playing well at the moment, and his movement and ability in front of goal is going to be important against Liverpool. The Merseyside club's defence do struggle with pace, and if the 28-year-old is able to time his run properly, then the Gunners will have a very good chance of scoring at Anfield.

Shkodran Mustafi
Shkodran Mustafi has proved to be a brilliant signing for Arsenal. The former Valencia centre-back has formed a strong partnership with Laurent Koscielny at the heart of the Gunners’ defence.

Mustafi will have to be at his best against Liverpool in order to keep the home team’s attackers at bay. With Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in good form, the hosts will be bombarding the Arsenal defence right from the start.

Back in August, Arsenal failed to cope with the Reds’ high-pressing game and lost 4-3 at the Emirates Stadium. In March, Mustafi will have to marshal his defence and make sure that the defenders are not caught off guard.

Bellerin injured

Approaching the dreaded November month, Arsenal have another injury concern. Hector Bellerin, a player in magnificent form lately, is set to miss the next few weeks in the red and white shirt.

Spanish Bellerin, 21, one of the standout performers this season and who is likely to sign a new contract to remain at Arsenal for the next six years, sustained an injury of his ankle ligament earlier this week that he had previously injured while on international duty.

But now doctors and medical tests have suggested the ligament damage will see him spend at least the rest of November out of action.

That means he will miss the important games against Manchester United at Old Trafford and the home game against PSG in the Champions League.

What is the likely Arsenal line up for the Sunday North London Derby?

While Theo Walcott is likely to be back from his hamstring injury, a range of doubts remain over Cazorla with an achilles injury, Nacho Monreal (muscular injury), Hector Bellerin (unspecified training injury) and Kieran Gibbs with a shoulder injury during the Ludogorets Champions League Match on Tuesday.

Lucas Perez, Per Mertesacker and Danny Welbeck remain unfit for the important match.

Arsenal moves to second after Liverpool thrashing

Sweet revenge that was. Arsenal beat Liverpool FC convincingly in a crunch early kick off at the Emirates. Last season, Arsenal were on the receiving end of a Liverpool bashing. Today, the Gunners outclassed, shredded, and obliterated Liverpool.

Three sumptuous goals before half time were enough to secure all three points for the Gunners. Arguably, that was the best I had seen Arsenal play all the season. Smooth passing of the ball, exquisite finishes and high pressing both on and off the ball. Liverpool just couldn’t match.

The Arsenal Machine seems to be well oiled and quickly moving. Having amassed the most points in 2015 than any other team cannot be under estimated. Wenger will be pinching himself having not replicated this form at the start of the season.

The mighty Gunners have been on a remarkable run. Winning six games in a row is indeed remarkable. Why on earth did this form not emerge during the start of the season?

Some have not shied away from talking about the title chances for the Gunners. It appears as a rather distant achievement but it is possible. Bridging a seven gap between them and the leaders is a difficult but possible phenomenon.

In the previous two seasons the Gunners have had a strong finish to the season. Odds are backing them to go for second and remain unbeaten in the remaining fixtures. Will that be an achievement for the Gunners?

Of course the Gunners are two games away from retaining the FA cup. Would you consider finishing second and FA triumph as success for Arsenal?

Arsenal curse of round of 16 continues

Another season another near miss. We have been branded as specialists in glorious failure. We did everything right but at the end of it Monaco condemned us to a 5th consecutive exit in the round of 16. Is that not a curse?

Arsenal were at their best in the away CL fixture at Monaco. Goals from Giroud and Ramsey made Arsenal fans believe that they could overturn the 3-1 defeat at Emirates. The search for the third goal became elusive.

It has been the same story over the years. Arsenal shaky in the first leg only to give a fight in the second leg. Perhaps, Wenger should remind his boys that the knock out is won over the two legs. Have a look at and compare Arsenal players performances.

Arsenal embarrassed in Europe again

Oh dear! It happened again. Arsenal humiliation at home by Monaco was a reminiscence of a typical performance from the Gunners. It was pathetic, diabolical and shambolic.

When the draw was announced many Arsenal fans were optimistic of progression. They developed hope. But did they not say that it is hope that kills?

Its nights like these that leave me pondering whether Arsenal will ever win the Champions League. Its 18 years in a row in CL football with nothing to show for it. In other news, we are on the blink for a fifth consecutive round of 16 elimination. Inexplicable!

Previous eliminations by Barcelona, AC Milan and Bayern were understandable. A 3-1 drubbing by Monaco at home is unfathomable. The blame is to be shared by the manager and the players who looked lethargic and out of sorts.

Arsenal survive Palace late scare to secure 3rd place

Well, Arsenal never looked settled for the entire 90 minutes at Selhurst Park. However, against the run of play, the Gunners somehow led 2-0 for the majority of game. Cazorla’s penalty and Giroud strikes ensured that all the three points went the Arsenal way.

Like I said, the game was not a walk in the park. Were it for not for the Eagles lack of composure and profligacy in front of goal, the Gunners would be talking a different language.

Pardew’s late substitutions caused plenty of problems for the Arsenal defense. A late goal by Murray after a goal mouth scramble brought a nervy finish to the game.

The Gunners are on a good run. Eight wins in nine matches is not bad at all to say the least.

Arsenal were back to business in the late FA kick off with Middlesbrough. Two exquisite finishes by Giroud ensured a rather dominant encounter by the Gunners over a team that eliminated Manchester City.

Arsenal controlled the game in all departments. The passing was excellent just as the defending. Ozil and Cazorla bossed the midfield with majestic runs and passes. The all round technical quality translated into Arsenal dominating Boro on all aspects.

The win ensures that the Gunners pursuit of holding the FA cup is very much alive. I am confident the Gunners stand a high chance in retaining the cup.

Arsenal Fixture List Offers Hope for Top 4 Qualification

In the wake of the North London Derby loss, Arsenal will be hoping to gather resurgence in the run-in. Well, there can be hope as their remaining fixture list looks favorable on paper (disregarding the cliche 'there is no easy game in EPL').

With Liverpool and Chelsea to come to the Emirates, Newcastle and Man United remains as the difficult away fixtures remaining. Looking not far, the next 5 Arsenal fixtures read Leicester (H), Palace (A), Everton (H), QPR (A) and Westham (H). With Arsenal’s quality, these games look winnable.

The Gunners will also gather optimism as their injury fears continue to ease. With the return of Walcott, Ozil and Wilshere (who has returned to full training), the Gunners can boast of enough talent to spur them for a top four finish.

With that said, the defeat at Lane can be a thing of the past if Arsenal can pull better results in the upcoming games.

Arsenal the Losers in the North London Derby

Losing a North London Derby is one of the worst feelings as an Arsenal fan. Give credit to me for finding strength and sobriety to be writing this article. Awful is an understatement of the feeling.

Arsenal were uncharacteristically bereft. The midfield never clicked losing possession on several occasions. It seemed like another masterpiece for Arsenal as they went ahead courtesy of Ozil but Spurs pressing exposed the Arsenal defense.

With a game on Tuesday, Arsenal have the chance to quickly get up their feet and hit the ground running. Meanwhile, Spurs are still celebrating the win that one would think won them the league. Am pretty sure we will topple them come next week.

North London will always be red. Forever a Gooner!

Arsene Wenger has revealed the latest news ahead of the North London Derby. Many fans will not be pleased on realizing that Sanchez is not ready for the tie. The Chilean has been sensational for Arsenal since his departure from Barcelona.

However, Wenger has revealed that Welbeck is back after missing from action since Dec 28. The boss also said that Wilshere will be back to full training starting from Sunday.

It was one of those days you don’t watch an Arsenal match with your heart in your mouth. An exquisite performance that stifled ,choked and mortified a goal shy Aston Villa.

Goals from Giroud, Ozil, Cazorla (p), Walcott and Bellerin ensured a rather comforter victory for the Gunners. Arsenal toyed with Villa and their passing was excellent throughout the game.

With the win, Arsenal leapfrogged Spurs to the 5th position as the race for the top four tightens. What a contest it will be in the upcoming North London Derby.

Arsenal confirms the signing of Gabriel from Villarreal

Arsenal FC have confirmed the signing of Gabriel from Villarreal. The 24-year old Brazilian has been a core figure in the Yellow Submarines defense this season. Other than a center back, Gabriel can also play as a left back or right back.

Speaking after the confirmation, Gabriel said, ‘’I am arriving at a big club and the fans can expect to find a Gabriel with a great will to help everyone’’.

The signing of Gabriel will bolster the Arsenal defense that has been plagued by injuries from time to time. His addition will also give Wenger options in defense.

Who should be in Arsenal starting XI when all players are fit?

Arsenal FC is a club known to be plagued with frequent injuries to players. It has always been difficult for Wenger to have a fully fit team at a particular point in a given campaign. Currently, Arteta, Debuchy, Wilshere, Welbeck and Diaby are all unavailable for selection.

Arsene Wenger is likely to suffer a slight headache over choosing his best starting XI when all the players are available for selection. With the return of Ozil and Ramsey from injury, picking the best XI will prove a headache to the gaffer.

Disciplined Arsenal hammer Citizens at the Etihad

Wow! Not even the most optimistic Arsenal fan saw that coming. A disciplined, compact and efficient performance from the Gunners edged past the champions. In all truth, that is the best I have seen Arsenal play against the big boys for a long time.

Excellent defending, efficient attack and an imperious midfield did the impossible against the star studded Manchester City. Arsene Wenger must have listened to his backroom staff to change his tactics when playing away games against the big boys.

It was an exciting all round performance from the players but Cazorla and Coquelin were simply unplayable. Cazorla controlled the midfield majestically while Coquelin negated every attack from the Champions.

That was splendid stuff, great game and delighted for the boys. Kudos Wenger for a long awaited impressive win against a big team. Happy to be a Gooner!

Sanchez has quickly adapted to the premier league and has shown to be one of the best players in the division. These are words that have been echoed by his Chilean compatriot, Manuel Pellegrini.

Speaking ahead of the weekend encounter with Arsenal, Pellegrini showered praises on Sanchez by hailing him as the premier league’s best. Speaking to AS the city boss said, ‘’I am happy for him because, at this time, he is the best player in the English football ’’.

Alexis Sanchez has already scored 12 premier goals. Arsenal can count themselves lucky to have the services of the ever hardworking Chilean.

Arsenal stroll past the Potters

Arsenal looked unplayable against Stoke FC. A stellar performance from Sanchez and company ensured a pretty comfortable 3-0 victory for the Gunners. It seems like Stoke City FC can only play on the wet and windy nights at the Britannia.

As usual, the star performance was from Alexis. Two goals and an assist capped an exquisite performance by the Chilean genius. We cannot thank Barcelona enough for this man! Sanchez is a cut above the rest.

Arsene Wenger will be impressed by the return of Ramsey and Ozil who have been missing with injuries. Their return will provide Arsenal with more attacking intent as well as options in the upcoming congested fixtures. The only blemish in the game was the injury to Debuchy.

Transfer news: Arsenal linked to Isco, Morgan Schneiderlin among others

As I said, Arsenal will be linked to several players in this January window transfer. Now Arsenal is being linked to Isco for a whooping transfer fee of £64M. The Spanish midfielder could be pushed away from Bernabeu to accommodate Bale.

Arsenal has also been linked to Morgan Schneiderlin in a bid to add more steel to their midfield. The Gunners will have to battle with Tottenham for the signature of the Frenchman.

Reports also indicate that the Gunners will also look at other options for the defensive midfielder. Wanyama has been reported as an option.

The January transfer window is already open. It’s a window characterized by a dearth of signings but provides a golden opportunity for teams to strengthen.

Arsenal in particular, having closed the summer short in some areas and now plagued with injuries have the opportunity to strengthen. A defensive midfielder and a defender probably should be top of Wenger’s list.

However, with Wenger’s reluctance to spend and unavailability of quality players in the January window transfer, Arsenal fans can only wait. They won’t elude the perennial heartache associated with the transfer period.

Was letting Podolski go a mistake?

The January transfer has been opened and Arsenal have already let Podolski join Inter Milan on a loan spell of 6 months. With the prevailing injury crisis, was it wise to let Podolski leave on loan?

Arsenal injury problems are well documented. Actually, I cannot recall the last time Arsenal had all the players available for selection. Against Southampton, the Gunners did not have any fit striker. The Gunners were forced to play with a makeshift attack.

With Podolski gone, the Gunners have lost one of the most lethal strikers around the world. How he never had enough game time is beyond us. Only Wenger knows why.
