Hello I’m Anna and I’m one of the new bloggers here on on-mix. Why I love music? Well I guess I was brought up with it, my dad is a big rock’n roll fan and on my 5th birthday I could sing along with all the songs of The Rolling Stones, Dr. Hook, Sting and Joe Cocker. My dad loved the Rolling Stones so much that he even named my little sister after one of their greatest hits: Angie.

My favorite kind of music is ’60,’70,’80 and ’90 Rock’n roll. ( In the style of The Stones: ‘ I know it’s only rock’n roll but I like it!’  ) That doesn’t mean I don’t like the music in the charts or dance. Because when I go out I love to dance to songs from LMFAO or David Guetta. But I think you can’t compare them with each other. The feeling that you get when you listen to lyrics that say: ‘Yes there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run. There’s still time to change the road you’re on.’ from Led Zeppelin compared to the feeling when you get when you hear lyrics like: ‘ Do the wiggle man, A little wiggle man’  from LMFAO are so different. But they are still great. I think that’s another reason that I like music, there are so many different kinds of them and there is a style for everyone.

But enough about me, I was surfing on on-mix.com and found ‘Shopping Zombies’. Not only do they have a great name, they make great techno beats. I liked their track ‘ Busting out’ allot , so definitely check them out!

First of all welcome to my new blog. Since this week I´m one of the bloggers for on-mix.com.

I´m Ruth and I´m 17. Music is one of my many passions. That´s why I didn´t hesitate to do this blog. In my blog you are going to read about artists that I love or artists that inspire me. I will also try to write something about an artist on this page every week.

But first things first. What kind of music do I like and am I going to write about? The awnser to that question is actually pretty simple: I like pretty much any style of music. From rock music to country, from pop tot folk. Name it and I´ll probably like it!

One of the first artists I want to tell you about is my personal favorite of this moment: Ed Sheeran. I´m happy to anounce I will be going to his concert in the Netherlands on the 12th of march! So now a little more about Ed Sheeran:

He is just 20 years old and has been in the music industry for five years now. He has already got 8 EP´s and one number 1 selling album named “+”. This boy next door has a very down to earth attitude and his songs contain lyrics about his personal life. Ed Sheeran´s music isn´t easily put into one genre. He often has acoustic songs, but is also using electric guitars and other instruments, mixing it all together. The genre´s he will probably be put best in are hiphop, acoustic and folk music. He also does a little rapping in his songs. Recently he anounced a collaboration album coming up, where he will be rapping more. One of my personal favorite songs is “Drunk” from his debutalbum “+”. Under here I will put a link to his youtube channel with the official music video.

The album on the on-mix site I want to tell you about this week is called “Happily Ever After” and it´s from Sobria Ebrietas. This album is divided in 5 parts. These are 5 seperate tracks on the ablum. The music on “Happily Ever After” is instrumental, but very pretty. The first track is a mix of piano and guitar music. This track is very relaxing and soft and nice to listen to. The second track is also with guitar, but this time also partially computer made. Nonetheless this too is a pretty piece of music.

The third track on this album I personally think is a little bit less interesting. It had more of an ambient style. The forth track is once again ambient style, but nice. This music really works calming. Last but not least the fifth track on this ablum contains nice piece of music with piano and synthesizer. It is a little bit different from the other for tracks, but it is still good. My overall conclusion is that this album, published on november 6th, 2011, is a must listen to ;)

Well I guess this was my first ever blog for on-mix.com. Expect many more blogs to come from me and also check out other blogs from AnnaS, SemR and Willemhenkelman. From now on you will find an new blog from me every ones a week and maybe even more! Any time I get musical inspiration I will write it down and share it with you. Untill then…

    Release note

    A new release by Viral Implications. It’s called ‘Tears Of Glass’. The EP has five songs on it.

    It kicks of with ‘The Beauty of Sinus’, a five minute piece of work. More up-tempo than the previous songs of Viral Implications. I was looking for a much more warmer sound in the music. A repetitive drum pattern with use of a synthesizer. Drums were programmed in the application Battery (finally figured out how to create my own midi files). This first song is a good example of the sound I was looking for on this EP.

    The second song is called ‘Virality’ and hints more at the previous work of Viral Implications. Like most of the songs on this EP ‘Vitality’ quietly moves on.

    The title track of this EP ‘Tears Of Glass’ consists of two loops; drum loop and a 303 loop. It has two major breaks, exploring a totally different ground, but it still fits together. It was the second track I recorded (after the midi thing). Although the rough version was recorded in about three hours, it took me another month to finish it. One of the samples I’ve used in this song was called ‘Glass’, which originally was the working title of the song. For some reason it got changed into ‘Tears of Glass’.

    The fourth song ‘A Homeless Farewell’ is one of those songs that just erupts from a recording session. Base track with the drums and bass were on my harddrive. I started to fiddle with some guitars and added strings. It gave its nostalgic feel. Like Arjen says: “a typical autumn song”. This one builts up to its climax at the end. I really love this one.

    The last song is a bit out of tune with the other ones. Which has become kinda like a trademark for me, over the past few years. A track that I wanted to use for Zero V’s ‘Conflict of Emotions’, but too loud for that EP. I still wonder which turn I took from the original jazzy demo of this song ;-)

    • ]]>     I’ve started working on new material for Boy In Trouble. Again electro based, bit rough on the edges. Working title is Electronika.

    There are some demo’s on my disc that need a proper finish. ‘Down & Dirty’ is the first track I started working on a few months ago.

    A nice drum track, with the help of ‘Battery’, a bassline – simple loops from my synth, some sequencer loops and a distorted guitar that runs through a phaser. It sounds okay this way. I’ve been playing around with more stuff, but that doesn’t add anything to the song. I’ll just leave it this way.

    Usually when I start recording I haven’t got a clue which of my aliasses will use the material. But this time it is quite clear that it is new Boy In Trouble material.

    It will take a month or so to finish the other songs. Not an album this time but a 4 or 5 piece EP.
