So yesterday I completed the last run of week 3 for Couch to 5K. It is going okay. It is hard, but it works. Monday there will be a 5 min run. Which is terrifying, but based on last weeks experience I am going to trust that Robert Ullrey know what he is talking about when he says that my previous work has prepared me for it... we'll see how it goes.
Week 4
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

So I ran this morning and it was fine. I ran in my shorter shorts, and that wasn't a wise choice, but now I know. The run was okay this morning. It goes so fast with the Ullrey music! At the end I miscalculated what street I was on and ended up running on a major thoroughfare in my shorter shorts which made me run faster trying to get to the side street. Yikes. (They kept riding up...) Anyway, at least I didn't get thigh burn. Tomorrow I am going to the gym to do weight training and stuff on the elliptical while my car is being serviced. :) In other news I have had some really positive feed back from friends recently. To quote a former colleague that I ran into at lunch today, "You're so tiny." Ha! And last night, someone else was suprised that I still considered myself a work in progress. Anyway. It is good for the self esteem.

Oh and fatbet results

Week 1: 189.9
Week 2: 186.6
Week 3: 186.0 (today 185)
3 more pounds and I will have lost 70! score!

Now the question is whether or not to move on to week two. I am feeling pretty good about that, and my trip to the gym to run on the treadmill wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I think I am personally going to move on to week two and see how it goes. If I need to mix it up next week I will.

What is everyone else thinking at this point? comments? concerns?

One concern I have is the summer heat. Monday, the first day I ran, I got too hot (upper 90s here) and dehydrated. I had a super bad headache and couldn't keep my dinner down. Going in the morning (lower 80s) and at the gym helped a lot. Plus I can't believe how much I am sweating!!! I never sweat that much! Anyway...

A question for those of you that run on the treadmills. How fast do you go when you jog and when you walk? Yesterday, I did a 4 mph walk and a 5 mph jog.

Today, I think I am going to go to the gym and hop on the elliptical.
Go Team!

I think that is why I like to read the Fat Acceptance blogs and haes stuff even though I don't entirely agree with them. They talk about the emotions and the hurt of being fat. Life is hard. Just because I loose weight doesn't mean it will get easier. I still have to deal with my other mess. We weigh in on Tuesdays and each have individualized goals. Everyday we check in for exercise.

For the Christians in the crowd, I also recently started a Bible study called the Lord's Table that deals with the emotional side of overeating/gluttony and how to refocus those emotions in something that can truly satisfy, Christ. You would be amazed at how often disordered eating comes up in the Bible. Anyway, the study is really cool, and if you are interested you can check it out at http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/courses/lords-table/

So I haven't been to Weight Watchers in ages because of traveling, etc. etc. So I have no idea how much I weigh right now. I'm guessing between 210-215. I'm going to a meeting later today though, so we'll see. It is really frustrating to me that I'll reach a goal and then just stop and gain weight back. I'm not sure why I do this. The new job has proven my eating healthy will power near non-existent. The job involves lots of driving in the heat, and Sonic and McDonald's sweet teas are so cold and refreshing. I am going to have to figure some kind of alternative out. Soda should be a no no for me, so I'll have to look closely at their menus - maybe they have diet lemonade or something. Or I could factor the calories into my days.

The point, I need a new strategy, and I think that might be just tracking my points this week to see how I am actually doing (I haven't done that in ages) and then move on with that knowledge next week. I also want to pack good food to take with me next week.

This weeks goal: keep up with points and drink lots of water.

Maybe I'll look back through my healthy eating book if I have time.

Edit:

CW: 205 - now, I'm not really sure how that happened, but I think it is because I have been eating so sporadically because of the job. ( I am teaching reading and on the days I teach three classes, lunch is a fiber 1 bar.) At any rate I haven't been eating good food and that needs to change.

STG: 199 (Fourth of July)
LTG: 140ish
