Below find The South East London Film Collective;s tentative meet-up schedule for the next few months. Check the website for updates a few days before.

Dear SELF Collective,

My name is Anna Tzini and I am Programme coordinator of PLATFORMA Video Festival (www.platformavideo.eu).

Let me tell you a few things about PLATFORMA first. It is an annual video festival located in Athens, Greece. It hosts more than 150 films from independent film makers (mainly using video and new media as their means of expression), and several tributes to foreign film festivals and creators. There are also a number of parallel events such as seminars, workshops, lectures and of course parties.

This year we thought we'd host a section dedicated to young artists who collaborate in order to get their work out there.

Directors, writers, actors who help each other out (one directs, the other shoots, a third one edits etc) in each ones films.

We want to show how important it is for young creators to stand by each other, and how that can benefit their work in terms of quality, ideas, and publicity.

We would like to see some of your video/film work in order to include it to our programme. We would love it if you could attend our festival and we will try to help with your travel and accommodation expenses as much as we can, depending on our funding which is still pending. You will of course be given free accreditation to all the festivals events and venues for all the days of the festival.

We would be very happy if you were interested in our proposal of cooperation for our next festival edition (Platforma Video 8, 7-10/11/2008).

First meeting to take place at The Broca (4 Coulgate Street, Brockley) this Thursday (21st Feb) at 7pm.

This is a chance to meet other writers, workshop ideas and possibly collaborate on exciting new ones in a constructive and supportive environment!
I know this meeting is short notice, but the circle will continue to meet every fortnight at the same time and place.

SELF-C Member in X-Factor meets National Theatre event!

Dear All,

In case I haven't already let you know, please see below details of an event. My short play has been selected to be one of the finalists for this "X Factor meets National Theatre' type-thing. I guess the one that wins will be the one that packs in the most friends to vote for them!

It would be good if you can give me some advance notice of whether you can come, as I may be able to reserve a table in advance. If you want any more info, phone me on 07725 948637. Oh, and my golden jubilee celebrations take place two weeks later on 23rd/24th Feb, but more on that later...

48 Hour Film Project After Party

This event will conclude the South East London Film Collective's 48 hour film project.

From Friday 25Jan to Sunday 27Jan 3 teams of SE London filmmakers will be interpreting one script (written by a team of SE London scriptwriters) and creating 3 short films. They will be screened at The Sassoon Gallery at 7pm on Sunday with an afterparty to follow

THIS IS A FREE EVENT We encourage people interested in joining the collective to come out and meet us!

All are welcome, bring friends.

Venue Confirmed for Planning Meeting

Peckham Bar Story
Tuesday 8th January @ 7pm

The purpose of this meeting will be to bring together plans for the 48 hour film project set to go ahead between 25th and 27th January.

The weekend has been tentatively titled 3:3:1
3 films
3 minutes
1 weekend

Though some prefered a Lewisham venue for this meeting, in the end it seemed right to hold the planning meeting at the same place as the filmmaking weekend. It was also difficult to find venues in Lewisham for free.

Following the meeting, there will be the chance to meet SELFCollective members at an informal meet-up at the same venue.

Those interested in taking part in the weekend are strongly encouraged to attend, as filmmaking groups and logistics will be finalised during the meeting.

Donation in exchange for Publicity
Anyone who is unable to join us at either the planning meeting or the 3:3:1 event but still wants to take part is encouraged to email Laurie (laurie@selfcollective.org) about donating equipment for the weekend in exchange for publicity at the event.

Planning Meeting #2 for 48 Hour Film Weekend

The next planning meeting for the 48 Hour Film Weekend will be held on Tuesday 8th January at 7pm. Venue to be confirmed (but will be confirmed much sooner than our most recent meeting!)

It is essential that those interested in the event attend this meeting so that we have a clear idea of how many people we have onboard and so participants are fully informed of the logistics of the weekend.

This meeting will bring together recent developments for the film weekend and discuss final preparations for the event. A decision will also be made over the number of actors required for the films and film production groups will be formed.
