OPS Macro Hybrid technology in largest Indonesian solar system

OPS is pleased to announce completion of site commissioning at Morotai Island in North Maluku, Indonesia. The project employs proprietary OPS Macro Hybrid technology which provides power conversion to the largest solar system in operation in Indonesia. The solar system is owned and operated by state electricity company PT PLN Persero.

OPS Macro Hybrid technology includes the necessary power conversion and integration controls to enable high solar PV penetration onto the existing diesel generators. The Macro technology automates the multiple power sources to achieve best overall system efficiency as well as to provide continuous, high-quality power supply to the remote island community.

The renewable energy upgrade includes a 600kWp solar PV array and 2.7MWh energy storage facility. OPS supplied a total of 1.35MW of power-conditioning equipment as well as custom engineered Station Control and Genset Interface Modules. OPS also developed specialised SCADA remote monitoring and control software for the Morotai system.

A spokesperson from PT PLN said in a press statement that the Morotai System will reduce fuel consumption by 800 litres per day and save approximately Indonesian Rupee 2.5 billion per year. OPS is pleased with the success of the Morotai system and is expecting high system performance from the Macro Hybrid power technology.

OPS delivers 3 MW of systems to Indonesia

Optimal Power Solutions is pleased to announce that the company has recently delivered 3 MW of power conversion systems to Indonesia.

This is part of the Governments 3 year plan to electrify a number of villages in Eastern Indonesia with clean renewable energy sources. The cost and environmental impact of diesel based systems is very high and solar PV offers an effective way of providing 24 hour power to numerous sites in the country.

OPS and OPS India are pleased to announce a highly successful exhibition at Intersolar Mumbai 2011.

The OPS exhibit saw the launch of two key new product lines:

GEC-TL transformer-less central power conditioners, which provide robust, high yield central inverters for large scale grid connect applications;
The OPS Sun Station containerised solution, which provides an integrated and modular solution for megawatt-scale solar plants.

OPS also gave a sneak peak at upcoming products for 2012, including the SiteLink and Connect data acquisition and remote monitoring products. OPS Connect will provide our clients with a highly scalable, web-based SCADA and portfolio viewer providing powerful reporting and management for all OPS sites within an easy-to-use web interface. These new products combine to give OPS systems an industry-leading feature set for 2012 and beyond.

As part of the Intersolar Conference OPS CTO Mr Ashok Prakash, General Manager (Systems) Mr Sunil Kumar and Group Director Mr Stephen Phillips gave presentations on some of the innovative features of OPS power solutions.

This week at Intersolar 2011 (Mumbai), OPS together with OPS India will release the latest in transformer-less Grid Export power conditioning technology, The GEC-TL Series along with the megawatt-scale containerised power module, The Sun Station.

OPS secures 10 MW Indian solar grid connect Contract

OPS is pleased to advise that a 10 MW contract, for supply of power conditioners, engineering, SCADA and operations has been awarded to OPS India.

The equipment will be produced in Kolkata and progressively delivered up to March 2012. The delivery will be part of supply to two (2) 5 MW installations in South India and OPS will provide ongoing support to the client groups with local operation and maintenance.

An expansion of the business opportunity in India is expected to flow from these projects in India.

OPS Malaysia at IGEM 2011

OPS Malaysia was pleased to exhibit its product and service offerings at IGEM 2011, the regions largest green energy exhibition held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

With Malaysia soon to commence a feed in tariff scheme for green energy, great interest was shown in the OPS Group’s recent work in multi-megawatt solar farms. As part of the OPS Malaysia exhibit, OPS PVNet software was used to show real-time system monitoring of the 3MW solar farm at Karnataka, India, which utilises OPS 250kVA power inverters and SCADA solutions.

A live Macro Hybrid System rig was installed, allowing OPS Project Manager Ritesh Lutchman and his team to exhibit OPS’s innovative control system for managing high solar penetration on islander diesel grids. The Macro Hybrid System has been successfully implemented at a number of sites including 430 kW of solar at Kinabatangan, Malaysia; 360 kW of solar at Bunaken, Indonesia, and the upcoming Morotai Island system integrating 600 kWp of solar into a 1.35MW diesel grid.

OPS Malaysia was pleased to welcome Dato’ Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Malaysian Minister of Energy and Green Technology, to the OPS booth. Minister Chin discussed developments in off grid green power technologies with OPS Malaysia directors Jeyaram Subramaniam, Dasya Sariah Binti Daud, and OPS Group director Stephen Phillips.

OPS solar system pleases Malaysian village residents.

A new solar hybrid systems in Kota Kinabalu which employs OPS power conversion technology has been applauded by Malaysian news.

Solar PV hybrid systems including energy storage facilities in Malaysian villages have proven significant diesel fuel reductions in conventional diesel power generation systems.

Village residents benefit from reliable, continuous power supply due to operational features of solar hybrid systems. This is in comparison to expensive diesel power which requires regular maintenance and typically operates for only six to eight hours per day.

OPS India Achieves ISO 9000 Accreditation

OPS India has recently undergone assessment of its Management System and can confirm registration to BS EN ISO 9001:2008. This covers the delivery of its products as outlined in its Standard Products Brochure which can be down loaded from the website.

The Accreditation follows prior achievement of C Tick (EMC compliance) testing of its 10 kW products and this programme is being expanded to larger models.

OPS is also undertaking a product standardisation project which will lead to higher quality, lower costs and faster delivery times. This is being complemented an expansion of the service capabilities and recruitment of new staff in both of the Bangalore and Kolkata operations.

Optimal to deliver 600kW Macro Hybrid System to Morotai Island

Optimal Power Solutions has secured an order for a high penetration 600kW Macro Hybrid System for Morotai island, Indonesia.

The system will include a combination of 3 numbers of 250 kW GEC units and 2 numbers of 300kW power conditioners for system stabilisation. The design intention is to substantially reduce fuel consumption and minimise engine hours each day.

The total system will delivered within 16 weeks along with commissioning and handover. A 600 kW PV array and high capacity battery will be installed as part of the system.

This project is part of a larger fuel displacement programme being embarked upon by the PT PLN Persero and should lead to significant industry development in Indonesia.
