Here is the latest Haberfield job. This was a formerly a tile roof and the owners decided to replace it with Colorbond which has given it an updated look.

The recent rains have brought to light some problems and we have been called out to previous jobs by some very distressed customers. After arriving to an emergency situation it was found that a build up of leaves created a torrent of water spilling into all unlikely places.

Autumn spills its leaves and it can go unnoticed causing such situations so if possible don the gloves, climb the ladder (secure it) and dig out the gutters which could have more then leaves, ie: soil, plants, nests, tennis balls and of course – single shoes!

If it isn’t an easy task its quite ok to call in a roofer.

Colour Co-ordinated roofs

The roof is a fantastic place to start with giving your place a new look, For example the colour and the shape can determine what colour plants and what type of fencing. I consider each roof gives its own theme, from cottage, contemporary, rustic and warehouse. Did I miss one or two? I’m totally open to help or suggest what they could do for a makeover without too much effort and cost. My background is Interior Decorating but I’m confident the same rules apply to outside. Let me know if I can assist!

Summer storms in Sydney

Summer presents us with a few storms that really test the quality of our shelter and we don’t notice our roofs until it leaks or something similar!
Just get it checked out when you can because if damage occurs from a storm , hiring a roofer may be problematic.

Aluminum Shingle Roofs

We do a lot of sheet metal roofs in Sydney, but there’s another company using aluminium shingles that look quite good. You can read their post at www.architectureanddesign.com.au

I haven’t seen shingles too much in Sydney, but with the resin sealer that’s used to protect hem and reflect heat, they seem like another good option. Here’s a bit more that you can read a bit more about the advantages of metal roofing.

Valley Metal

A roof needs to shed the rainwater, especially in heavy storms. With metal roofs this can be helped a lot by installing “valleys” which are v-shaped tracks that channel the water into the drains. There’s a post by a Seattle roofing company ( there’s a lot of rain in Seattle )with a good pic at the Valentine Roofing Blog. It looks like it’s metal shingles on the roof they show. In Sydney we use corrugated sheets a lot which are also good channelers.
