Discounted software purchase option via Software4students

Many of you know that the U3A nationally has entered into an agreement with Software4students to enable U3A members to purchase software on line at discounted prices. Our own U3A is now registered with Software4students; go to their website at www.software4students.co.uk to find out more.

You will need to enter your own personal and payment details if you wish to purchase, and when asked for an institution will need to enter Leighton – Linslade U3A. Alternatively, if you simply enter U3A in the appropriate box, it will display a list of registered U3As, and you can select ours.

Software4students is an accredited supplier of Microsoft software, so you can be sure that the products supplied are genuine Microsoft products. The discounted prices are very attractive, but, as usual, you are advised to shop around to make sure you are getting what you want, at the price you want. HOWEVER, WE HAVE NOW BEEN ADVISED THAT MICROSOFT PRODUCTS WILL CEASE TO BE AVAILABLE FROM END MARCH 2012. NO NEW STOCK IS BEING PURCHASED BY SOFTWARE4 STUDENTS AND WHEN EXISTING STOCKS ARE SOLD THEY ARE NOT BEING REPLENISHED.

Old Glory revised programme & a new trip!

The latest revision of the Old Glory programme is now available on the Old Glory page and also on the Downloads page.

Additionally, Old Glory is running a Mystery Tour holiday trip in March, 2012, and a ‘Journeys of the South’ holiday trip to Kent in June 2012; details of both are available from the Old Glory page together with booking forms. These trips are open to all LLU3A members, not just those of the Old Glory group. Plenty on offer – sign up now!

The Anniversary ‘start-up team’ working on plans for the September Celebration Event (see post below) has been joined by Beryl Milton and Lorna Rolph. Please let any one of the team have your ideas for events and contributions on the day – 29 September!
Several people present at the ‘Thank You Afternoon tea’ on 1 February also offered assistance on the day. Janet Page is ‘keeping a little list’ – so any other offers of help on the day to Janet please!

Brian Lowes has offered to lead a team of people to visit interest groups by arrangement if they wish to have photos and/or DVDs available to show on the day.
