There have been a few calls logged where the message "user master not created" appears when accessing BMS. We have been advised that installing the latest version of Java should clear these errors.

SIMS APP - Assessing Pupils Progress

Using the new SIMS pre-defined APP Grids to assess pupil progress based on the National Strategies guidelines. The provided grids automatically link to the Capita Pre-Defined tracking pupils’ progress marksheets and aspects.

The Progress Grid functionality is designed to replace the paper-based National Strategies Assessing Pupil Progress (APP) grids.

Illegitimate requests for remote access

There has been a recent spate of incidents both at schools and home where someone claiming to be a 'Windows expert/consultant' calls to inform you that your version of Windows is experiencing issues or needs updating. The person then attempts to get you to log onto a website to resolve the issue. This is a scam and you should just end the call immediately. ICT services only ever use our standard remote support tools, dameware and netop, which require your permission so any deviation from this is not legitimate.

FREE SSL Server Certificates now available from the JANET service.

We now have access to request free Comodo SSL server certificates for any .sch.uk domain. All you need to do is email your CSR as either text or an attachment, along with duration of certificate required (1, 2 or 3 years) and the OS of the server that requires the certificate. We'll then do the rest and your certificate will be emailed to you.

Please email your request to helpdesk@nottscc.gov.uk. We will accept any recognised technical staff email address from your school domain.

SIMS Discover Autumn 2011 v7.142 Upgrade Guide

If you are currently using the SIMS Discover product there is an upgrade now available. You must be on the main SIMS Autumn release v7.142 before running this upgrade.

The SIMS Discover upgrade follows much the same path as the original installation...

SIMS Autumn Release v7.142 Now Available for ALL Schools

The Autumn 2011 release is now available. This release contains various upgrades and allows the creation of your January 2012 census returns.

As usual it is advised to do nothing until Monday 12-12-11 to let the automatic upgrades takes place. Any manual upgrades can then be done at that point.

This release also includes updates to Core, Cover7, Dinner Money 7, Homepage, InTouch, Lesson Monitor, Nova-T6, Personnel, Registrations & Admissions and the Timetable Reporting area.

1C1N service moved to a state of the art data centre

Over the years the data centre that is used to house IT systems at County Hall has slowly become less and less able to accommodate the ever increasing capacity that needs to be delivered, serviced and maintained. From the inadequate air conditioning solution to the physical layout of the server rooms the need to upgrade became too great to work around.
