After a winter break we are so happy to be back and ready for an incredible summer! I have some very exciting projects coming up, a few great promotions for you to take advantage of and of course lots of new amazing photos of some of the beautiful women who have been in front of the camera.

You might recognize Allie’s smiling face from my main blog, her and Tim will be getting married later this year and she decided that a little fashion session would be a great gift for him (yes, he knows about it and I’m not ruining the surprise!). We got together on a perfect summer night and explored downtown to capture some images of this beautiful, vibrant and positive woman. Her laugh and light-hearted attitude are absolutely infectious and make working with her a pleasure.

These photos are also a perfect example of what you can create with a session like this. Allie isn’t a model and other than her engagement session, had never spent any time in front of the camera before. She’s confident, fun loving and has a great attitude and that’s all you need for a fashion shoot! After she received her photos she sent me a beautiful email and one part really stood out to me:

“I had no idea that I looked like that! Thank you so much for this experience.”

That pretty much sums up why I love these sessions so much.

Have you been thinking about booking a boudoir session but aren’t sure if the traditional look is what you’re interested in? Who says that boudoir always has to be about lingerie?

Sharisse’s photos are a great example of how you can create beautiful images that are fun, flirty but still a little sexy. This kind of session can let you stay in your comfort zone a little more and let you really relax and make a great gift for you guy.  Sometimes simple beauty, like your eyes, can be lost in traditional boudoir but you can’t help but being attracted to them in these photos!

I arrived at Ms. F’s home on a beautiful Saturday just as she was finishing her make up. We’d been chatting about her shoot for a few weeks and with her best friend along for a little support we got started.

She decided to have her shoot done in their home which I think is always a great idea. Hotel rooms are fantastic too but having them done at home gives them a bit more of a personal touch. She had the perfect outfits picked out and did an absolutely amazing job of her session! I always come with a lot of pose ideas and after a few minutes she was totally relaxed and even suggesting a few of her own ideas which I always love. A lot of people have asked me about her eyes and you may not believe me but there is not a bit of Photoshop magic applied to them! One of the many reasons that she created the stunning images you see here.

She was kind enough to let me show off a few of her best photos here on the blog and I think you would agree that her husband is a lucky man!

The shoot and album that she purchased were a gift for their anniversary and I always try to make sure that the photos we take are both something that she would be proud of and of course that he would love as well. I asked her what he likes most about her and one of the first things she mentioned is that he is a…ummm….’behind’ sort of guy. It turns out those were some of his favorite shots, those ones are for his eyes only though!

Here is the email that Ms. F sent me after she received her photos:

“The photos are absolutely INCREDIBLE! I’m MORE than EXCITED to see his reaction! I absolutely love what you have done with the photos. I can’t THANK YOU enough! The album is just what I hoped and the back of the cover is absolutely perfect as well! As long as it shows my bottom, it’ll be great! Like I said, he is a bit of a bottom fan. Okay, now I’m blushing!”

Over the next few weeks I’m going to post several sets to help give you a better idea of the different styles of photos you can create with a boudoir session. Sometimes women think that a photographer has only a set style of shots they do or that they’ll have to do photos that are a little more risque than they’re comfortable with, or that their photos won’t be quite as daring as they had hoped.

When you book a session with me we’ll talk in detail to make sure that you get exactly the photos that you want, nothing more and nothing less. I’ll get you to rate what kinds of photos you want from a scale of 1 to 10. 1 is a fun and flirty PJ set where you wouldn’t be showing much skin at all (I have one of these coming up soon on the blog), 5 is what you would see in a Victoria’s Secret catalog and 10 is closer to a Maxim style photo.

So Nicole is a model from Regina who I had a shoot with a few weeks ago and her photos are definitely a 9 or 10 (you’ll see why in part 2 of her post coming up a little later)! I completely respect the privacy of my clients so many women who have created shots just like these aren’t comfortable with having them online so I like to use sets like this from women who are proud to show off a little online!

It really is a small world. Nikki was a bridesmaid at one of my first weddings last summer. Then she was a part of an incredible afternoon of fashion shoots in the fall. Two weeks ago she had the MC duties at a wedding I was photographing and she’ll be at next weeks wedding as well!

Nikki is one of those wonderful people that I truly enjoyed working with. The kind of person who you could never get tired of because she is so kind and fun to be around. Most women are a little nervous before a shoot but she just dove right in and tried all of the ideas I suggested and even came up with a few great poses of her own at the end of the morning!

People always ask me what my favorite part of my job is. There really isn’t much about my work that I don’t like so it’s a tough question to answer but sharing photos – with my clients, their families, on Facebook and of course here on the blog – is definitely close to the top of the list. Everyone who creates something has a desire to share it with others, whether it’s with two people or two thousand. Not necessarily to gain attention or to garner a compliment but to share and start a small community around that art or food or whatever it is that you’ve created.

So of course I would always love to share the amazing photos that my boudoir clients create. You can’t imagine what an incredible job so many women have done by diving out of their comfort zone and taking a chance on something different. They make images that often amaze themselves and leave their partners breathless. I always respect that while some love to have their photos shown off, this is certainly not for everyone so I only get to share a fraction of the photos I’ve taken here.

A few times a year I work with models who love being in front of the camera and are kind enough to let others share their beauty through the photos we make together. Stacie is one of those women and here is part one of her beautiful boudoir session. I hope these photos give you a bit of an idea of what you can expect from a session with me and inspire you to give it a try, especially if it’s something you’ve always wondered about doing!
