Everyone has an idea of what they think boudoir photography is like. When you say the word boudoir to people most will think about photos similar to what you see in a Victoria’s Secret ad or a Maxim magazine.

Both of those are certainly styles of photography that you’ll see most photographers use (myself included!) but it doesn’t always have to be that way. Your photos can have a softer look, more of a fun and flirty feel as opposed to the sexier photos you often see posted.

Whether they’re just not your style, you have some areas you would like to minimize or you just want to create something a little different, there is no right or wrong way to do a boudoir shoot!

I’m just putting the finishing touches on the plans for my second and final Boudoir Experience of 2012, just in time for Christmas of course! We have a great location picked out and are just working on a few final touches for the big weekend. It will be a great opportunity to take advantage of the only sale I have on my sessions all year and I have some great discounts lined up for a Christmas gift that your guy will love – a beautiful album or calendar with all of your best photos from the shoot!

Stay tuned next week for all the details and until then enjoy a few more from Ms. A’s set from last summer. I had always wanted to do a bit of a fun flirty cowgirl shoot and I thought a few shots in a tub out in the field would be a really cool touch. Despite the cool evening and hordes of mosquito’s Ms. A was up for it and helped me create some of my favorite images that I’ve ever taken since I started my business five years ago!

I love fall fashion shoots! The colors, the perfect sunset light (that you don’t have to stay up until 10pm to enjoy!) and that little bite in the air that just seems to give everyone a little extra energy.

Atmosphere is so important when it comes to a fashion shoot. If everyone is rushed then the looks you get are forced and stale. If it’s +35 and humid out then everyone is just a little cranky and waiting to get back inside in the air conditioning. Autumn just seems to always work out perfectly – lots of options for a variety of looks around the city, crunching through the leaves just seems to relax anyone and those perfect temperatures that aren’t too hot or too cold!

Ms. K and I got out last fall on a beautiful afternoon and her shots are a great example of what’s possible with a fun casual shoot at this time of the year. Enjoy!

I always love doing a mix of country and urban shots in my sessions. I think it gives you a great variety of more casual photos that really show off who you are with a mix of photos that let you show off your creative side and really gives you the full shoot experience – letting you feel like a model for just a few hours one day!

Here are a few of my favorites from a shoot I did last summer, stay tuned for some more beautiful shots when we got back into the city for the end of the session.
