I simply love this new cloisonne kimono stamp from Michael Strong I was making some triangular cards during the last live webcast of Come2Chat and since it was a bit rushed I promised to come back and do another card and this is it ! :)

Used Hot Off the Press paper and coloured the stamped image with promarkers then highlighted the image with a white gel pen.

Before I forget there's also a kimono die-cut that matches the stamp (it's sold separately)

Sunny day today in London and it seems appropriate to show you this almost spring like Chinese Coins Greeting Card.

I used lovely oriental Japanese papers and with some simple matting I thought the lovely oriental lady would just pop off the card using a dark blue background.

Great news as Katie my lovely sponsor from Japan Crafts has updated her website with a lovely new look and more new items to come very soon.

I can't wait to see what's going to be available and don't forget that Katie does Japanese workshops so please visit her website for more infos.

This card was a bit of challenge in as much as placing the outline stickers/peel offs very straight, I also refilled them with the gold of another sheet of them. Basically it plays on contrast of gold, black and red.

I love that little bird in that dreamy chinese landscape scene. I've used chinese paper matted it in black.

Placed at the centre of a white crisp solid base card for that minimalistic look.

I saw these lovely stickers and thought straight away sushi tray. Yum !

The card was quite straightforward to make so it's a just a matter of layering and adding the dimensionality (is that a word ?0 to the tray handles.

I use three patterned papers in the simili shade of subdued lime green to complete the look I left a white border around the central mat as some stickers had white on them so to recall that hue.

There's also a fantastic show tonight 'In The Zone' on Creative Edventures with Cynthia Gagen et Roberta Birnbaum which will be totally about the new Chinese year so if you like Oriental stuff you must, must, must watch it ! Just click on the banner at 9pm (Eastern time) ...2am (GMT UK time if you're up that late) and you'll get into a great fun chat room where a video of the host is broadcast. You can ask questions and join in the fun. If you have a webcam (optional) you can even show your oriental creations if any.

Love that dragon ! Don't you ? I thought that paper matched it perfectly. I had so much fun making this card. I've used very dark contrasting red and black paper for matting.

I coloured the image with pastel pencils and sansodor, final touch was adding a peel off at the bottom.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I liked making it with it's clean and simple style.
Very Bashful Geisha Card

I'm back posting after a sabbatical as per my other post on my main blog 'craftingmad'.

I suddenly realised I never posted the samples I created for Japan Crafts for one of their show last year.

I'll be uploading the cards on a weekly basis, hoping they will inspire you in your oriental cardmaking.

I wanted to play with the contrast between the black peel-off and the crisp white of the base card, adding just a 3D element (the fan) to the image.

As a secondary focal point I wanted that fan japanese paper which is a favourite of mine to 'sing' so I just matted it with a matching green card.

I knew it would be perfecto to match with the Stampin' Up stamp set, Dream Gardens. I just used some cosmic shimmers for the two mini banners and edged everything with brilliance gold and again with lightening black. I highlighed the bird with some white Sakura pen.

I finally added a coin from a QVC kit I purchased a while back and it seems to be happy there. :) I also threaded a thin strip of paper which I folded unto itself.

I received a wonderful bundle of joy from Heidi Borchers the other day. Wonderfully generous of her to send me these delectable joss papers she picked up at a recent trip in San Francisco.

Thank you Heidi, I loved every single bit of it. I covered a sturdy piece of cardboard with the joss paper (one is actually a staging piece in the background). I found this wonderful outline sticker/peel off of a dragon and applied it to the piece trimmed piece after the decopatch varnish glue had dried. Finally I proceeded to fill in with a dark red Sakura gel pen and added a little gem (if you can see it) for the eye. Kanban paper for matting with a gold lame ribbon across the card. Also used some brilliance ink in red to shade the mat. I hope you like it and Heidi this card will find its way to you in the next few days. Enjoy !

Gold and Red Oriental Card

Another card from Vince's box of wonders ! He used the small stamp that came with the copy of Stamper's Magazine.

He coloured the image using h20, and stamped the background with an Habico set we purchased from QVC UK a while back.

Ink used is 'Encore' gold metallic ink and Vince embossed it to set it, as that ink never seems to dry.

Finally he matted the whole lot with opaque gold mirri cardstock. The coin was made using the negative of a peel-off and punching a circle from the gold mirri carstock.

Thanks Vince another stunner !

Oriental Collage Card by Vince

<img style="float:left; Used a vellum to create the backdrop and finally cut out a lady playing the chinese harp.

Cute Panda Oriental Card - Vince has created this stunner !

I was saying to Vince how I need to add another card to my Oriental Card Making blog and when I woke up this morning I found this beauty in the craft corner. Vince used several stamps to create the background, tore handmade paper to create the panda bear and finally cut out the bamboo leaves from paper adding a touch of sparkle with Sakuras (Vince loves Sakuras). I just love this card ! And the goggly eyes crack me up. You can see the same technique used on a Hoppy Bunny Card on my other blog.

Cherry Blossoms Oriental Card - Dare U 2 Digistamp Challenge

Hi guys, this week the challenge on Dare U 2 Digistamp was ribbon and I came up with this oriental card.

I've used one sheet from a QVC oriental kit for the background paper, a printed brown ribbon from HOTP (used the reverse) as it matched so well. Brilliance black lightening ink to give it an interference look. Coloured the stunning digital image from Chris Dark with Coloursoft and Sansodor.

Geisha is a tanda stamp ( I think ), I purchased second hand from the lovely Lin on the CraftTelly.com forum (Hi there everyone !)

Pearly accents of gem from one of those bumper pack you can buy at QVC. This is going to be my sister's birthday card you can see her gift for her 40th on my other blog.

Handmade glittery paper Oriental Card - Raffia used as ribbon

I think this one of my first attempt at Oriental card making. Used an existing QVC UK kit (no longer available) matted it and embellished with a coin as well as some twisted cord.

If I remember correctly the paper with flowers which reminds me a bit of falling snowflakes is DCWV.

I always feel that tall cards are so elegant...

Kimono on Leaf Oriental Card - Fiskars Template

Nearly forgot about his card. I've used the Far East DCWV pad and a decoupage kimono that came with a QVC kit. I've also utilised a Fiskar template for the leaf and matted it with metallic silver using the same paper.

It gives it a subtle look, you can almost miss them but don't blink ! LOL There are chinese lettering peel-offs on the right top corner of the card.

Finally I brushed lightly with my finger with a silver buffering cream all around the card.

Three panelled card with Chinese ladies - Peel-offs and Kanban toppers

With this card I discovered peel-offs, no really, I had peel-offs phobia before. But soon realised they can really accent a card. I"ve used them on the fan, the lady's lapel and the headdress.

I've used an oriental cardstock that was embossed and rubbed-on some metallic luster cream.

The card is a three panel card so folds in two parts you can see it standing on my other blog. They have lovely stamps and I'm sure I spent a fortune on them.

I used sand paper to get the embossed image to 'pop' and used the cardstock leftover on a chipboard.

Cherry Blossom Bliss Card - Chalking and Rubber Stamping

I got a lovely set of Oriental stamps from QVC and really liked this Cherry Blossom in a vase image.

I stamped on the background then used chalks in lilac and turquoise to get a water colour effect.

Coloured in the stamped image with watercolour pencils.

The coin was gold but I didn't think it would go so used some metallic buffer rub-on cream in silver and purple to highlight the dragons.

Black & White Oriental Card - Raffia work on half a wheel

I'm still going through my existing pictures of Oriental cards made in the past few years, I'll start to make new creations over the weekend.

I liked making this card as I use the whit raffia to create a semi-wheel of some sort. I used four stamps for the coin, the background, the bird and the highlighted foreground.

I chalked the dark cardstock and stamped twice first in white and then in black. I used a QVC kit that is no longer available but I'm glad I went for it.

There's a bit of everything on this card: stamping, quilling, embossing, decoupage and I even added some glossy accents to the round image of cherry blossom trees.

I was so proud of it, I sent it to Dawn Bibby for her birthday.
