I was unable to ascertain the source of the questions. The manual was authored in 1997 and the question hasn't came up, so the knowledge appears to have gone away.

I would recommend looking at our new version 4.0 software that includes the CES-D test as a depression screen.
- by Brandon Fuller

Version 3.5 removes the SF scoring tools. It is not really an "upgrade" per say. It is the same as version 3.0X without the SF tools. The SF tools were removed per an agreement with QualityMetric.

If you own version 3.0, you may continue using it and skip the upgrade to version 3.5.

However, if you want to use the SF tools with version 3.0 or 3.5, you still need to secure a license with QualityMetric. QualityMetric has significantly raised their prices as well.

Nearly all Orion customers are migrating to the Quality of Life Index (QOL). This alternative to the SF tools was put into Orion Outcomes year ago and you should have it available. If you don't see it, be sure you have turned the tool on in the Show Tools screen available via the Tools->Options menu.

The QOL can be scored from with Orion. There is no additional cost to use the tool.
- by Brandon Fuller

Outcome Goals for Cardiac Rehab report

I am having trouble getting accurate data on the "who are non-smokers greater than 6 months" section. I have entered the data in the profile with smoking quit date as necessary but on the report it appears that the patient is still listed as a smoker. For example, 2 patients with quit dates greater than 10 years ago are not listed as "....non-smokers greater than 6 months". Any ideas? Thank you
- by FairviewCardiacRehab

I have entered the 'non-smoker' or 'smoker' with quit date as directed, but it appears that the report reports anyone listed as a smoker regardless of the quit date- for example I have two patients listed with quit dates of 20 years ago and they are not counted as "non smokers greater than 6 months".
On 2008-08-27, the IP address for orionoutcomes.com changed. This shouldn't matter for most folks. But for some users that have firewall configurations based on IP addresses, they may be blocked from sending benchmarking data. In that case, please update your firewall to reflect the following change:

Old IP Address: 66.223.104.130

New IP Address: 70.32.115.73

(We haven't had to change this in 10 years so bear with us.
Orion Outcomes Version 3.5, SF Tools No Longer Provided

Orion Software Development today announced the availability of version 3.5 of Orion Outcomes for Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programs. This release is an interim release due to a change in licensing from QualityMetric, the creators of the SF tools. QualityMetric has notified Orion Software Development that the SF tools can no longer be incorporated into Orion Outcomes under license. Therefore, Orion Software Development is releasing version 3.5 of Orion Outcomes to comply with this change in direction from QualityMetric. At this time, version 3.5 offers the same features as version 3.0 of Orion Outcomes except for the removal of the SF tools survey instruments and scoring algorithms.

As with version 3.0, version 3.5 will offer the Ferrans and Powers Quality of Life Index (QLI) as an alternative to the SF tools. The author, Dr. Ferrans, has graciously allowed Orion Software Development and its customers to continue using the QLI at no additional cost.

Orion Software Development will continue to benchmark SF tool scores for its customers that choose to continue using those tools.

[ August 20, 2008, 08:40 AM: Message edited by: Brandon Fuller ]
- by Brandon Fuller
