Well I would recomend Don't.. Instead Just change to www.orkut.com .A few people were asking me How ? Its quite Simple ...

Why Should You Change ?

* So that you can Use the GreaseMonkey tricks On firefox.
* .com pages load faster.
* If you are in the .co.in domain and then recieve a link as a scrap with .com domain then visiting that link, creates problem for your Browser, to change the domain from co.in to .com .

How to change ?

* Go to the bottom of your page. See the screenshot.
* Here Click on "Go to Orkut.com"
* You Are Done.!!

Hey guys, i have checked my profile views in firefox and internet explorer both and guess what now if i look at my profile views though it is showing since feb,06 oops i have not joined orkut by then the last week and since feb'06 figures are same. Please check is this some kind of virus in my computer or it is the bug that is happening with all of us, and please reply to this post after checking this will wait for your response friends!!!

Orkut Helping people finding solutions to problems

This is just great orkut is not only helping people in socializing with their friends but people are also logging on to share not only their personal problems but also to find solutions for them.

"Orkut has been a great strength of support for me. I had lost all faith in destiny till I logged on to a kidney transplant community where people with similar problems pepped me up by writing down their experiences," says Sarath Kumar from Hyderabad.

Sarath, who is looking out for a kidney donor for himself adds, "They were people who told me what to do, what all precautions I should take and even suggested names of some good doctors that I could get in touch with."

There are many communities on orkut which are not only filling in their members to show off, but they are really and truly helping people which are having the problems and they are collectively finding solutions for it.

Not only do these communities attract a large number of members who indulge in periodical discussions to offer help to the one seeking, many also take part in these discussions as non-members.

"The whole purpose of my community has been to reach out to people who face similar problems. Many of the freshers had joined my community and we discussed everything from anti- ragging rules to how to go about with their admission procedure," says Sashank Nair, who had set up a community for first year under-graduate students.

Infostealer.Scrapkut new orkut Virus

This is a special warning to our Brazilian friends at orkut, in the previous post about w32.scrapkut virus a new component have been identified namely Infostealer.Scrapkut.

What does it do?
it intercepts login sessions of a number of Brazilian banking Web sites and then overlays certain sections with its own, fake authentication prompt, such as a keyboard:
The credentials are logged by the information stealer and the attackers are sent the details. Using a fake authentication prompts and targeting Brazilian banking Web sites.

Whats the risk to you?
if they get your bank account details, your savings will soon be lost! and that will count as your mistake cause you did not had your antivirus in place!!!

Remove Orkut Virus - W32.Scrapkut

So you have been hit by the orkut virus, you know which i just posted in my previous post here, so here is a way of removing orkut virus, namely w32.scrapkut.

1.Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).

Right Click "My Computer" , then select "Properties".
Go to "System Restore" tab .
Then Click/ Check "Turn off System Restore", then click OK and restart your system .

2. Update the virus definitions.

3.Backup your system registry.

Go to "Start" menu,
Select "Run", then type "regedit" .
Windows Registry will open ,
Go to "File" menu then select "Export".
Create a new folder . e.g; "Registry-Backup" .
Then type a filename which includes current date , this will help you in future maintanace of your Operating System . e.g; "Reg-Backup-21-01-2008"

4.Restart your system in safe mode.

During BootUp process Press F8 , then the BootUp selection screen will display.
Use Arrow Up+Down to select SafeMode on the selections menu.
Hit Enter to proceed.

5. Run a full system scan.

6. Delete these values added to theregistry.

Windows operating has an in built "Registry Editor" to edit Registry.
To open system registry ..
Go to "Run" on start menu , then type "regedit"
Press 'Ctrl+F' to Search/Find any Values or strings in registry .
Press 'F3' to "Find Next".

NB: Use this Symantec Tool to reset shell\open\command registry keys if regedit (Registry editor)is not accessible .

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Partizan\"Group" = "Boot But Extender"

You have to delete the above registry value, Thats it folks... search it for you so you dont have to but dont forget to read about this damn virus more here, and must always use orkut without javascript, have a very nice orkuting ahead my friends..

W32.Scrapkut Orkut Worm spreading to millions of users

Friends how many of you have fallen victim to a worm, which apparently looks like this in your scrapbook, but let me warn you its a deadly worm, recently renamed to W32.Scrapkut, uses active code injection as a vehicle to propagate to the Orkut friends of its unfortunate victim.

Wondering how this thing happens, heres the whole story about it:
> a malicious scrap is posted to the victim’s scrapbook, containing a link to what appears to be a YouTube video
> When a victim clicks on the link, they are redirected to an external site which prompts them to download the file “flashx_player_9.8.0.exe”.
> When executed, flashx_player_9.8.0.exe retrieves the files windosremote.exe, logservicess.exe and win32chekupdate.exe from http://[REMOVED].ifastnet.com. These files download additional files that perform a variety of malicious actions, but logservicess.exe is the main executable for further propagation. Logservicess.exe first copies itself as maindwxp.exe to four different locations on the system to ensure it is executed on startup.
> Maindwxp.exe then checks in with the command and control server via a GET request with specific parameter values. Interestingly, the page returned simply contains the word “Rastreados” followed by a number. In Portuguese, “rastreados” means “crawled” - at last check the number was 13559.
> Maindwxp.exe then executes and begins checking for an active browser window, waiting for the victim to visit Orkut. Once the victim is in an authenticated Orkut session, maindwxp.exe injects Javascript code into the active Orkut web session.
> This Javascript code which is actually based on a popular Greasemonkey script is then executed within the context of the Orkut domain and the user’s authenticated session, resulting in the malicious scrapbook entry being sent to all the victims’ friends, and the cycle begins again.

This way the malicious worm is spreading virally on the orkut, So how you can be saved from this malicious worm now, well in past i have posted about "how to surf orkut without javascript" which would help in prevention from such viruses and always remember not to use any javascript that are posted in your scrap even by your trusted friends...

Hey Friends,
I guess many of you may have run marathon race, some may not have, well but i was watching this movie "run fatboy run" in which they said that "there comes a time in the race when u cant breathe and cant run anymore and u just say quit"... but only a few people take another step ahead the wall, and then everything becomes easy,,.. whats the relevance of it on orkut champ, ahhh... i guess in my life , my blogs and my attitude for self improvement i have hit this wall, from the last one month i was taking life causally was not keeping my promises, was not blogging, just eating and watching movies and sleeping, ahhh... for few days it was good then it just starts becoming a very very bad habit. Every time i thought i should blog now, i just got myself starting another movie to watch and gosh.... thats thw way last month have been... but finally i took the courage to get over this wall and start running again, this blog and u have always been with me, i hope to see u guys watch the new look n feel on this blog in few days :)

New Friends Map at Orkut

Dear friends, in a spree of many new changes in orkut, the team has added a unique friends map feature in orkut, this feature will display a world map in which your friends will be shown. you can zoom in and out depending upon the concentration of your friends, to access this feature all you need to do is.
Go to the profile of person whose friends map you want to view, now simply click on view friends, and in the middle of his friends and mutual friends, you will now see this new feature "friends map". This one is very cool feature added by orkut team, we would cross our fingers to see more like this coming soon.

Developers have been building exciting new social applications over the last few months that will make the orkut experience even better. This is why we're excited to announce that apps will be available to a subset of orkut users starting in a couple weeks, and to all orkut users several weeks after that.

So we might just have to wait for few weeks more to get these great orkut applications to play with... we can wait this much... as we are quite busy orkuting... right friends!

Friends, I have been facing a little problem, i think a serious feature was missing from orkut which would help us in organizing our orkut accounts, because many of my school and college friend's name are same, just today orkut added this new feature which have solved my this problem lately and have made organizing friends very easier, as i have been saying in my previous posts that 2008 will be the year for many new orkut modifications and voila i just love this new feature for managing friends. Here is what Official Orkut Blog have to say about this...

Friend groups have been on orkut for some time now, but we're now making them more accessible throughout the site to make it easier for you to create new groups or add new friends to them. Here's what's changed: when you add a new friend or accept a friend request, you can now select which group(s) you want to add them to. You can also modify these groups (rename them, remove them or add new ones) either when you add or accept a friend, or on the friend management page. And we've turned friendship levels into groups for you, so that you can send messages to all your best friends, or see all the friends on orkut that you haven't met offline yet.

These guys at orkut are surely working at their best to give us all improved orkuting and latest features to manage our friends and social networking, my sincere wishes and hats off to these guys... they rock :)

Orkut Applications soon to go public

Well as i have mentioned in my previous posts that 2008 stores many new changes for the orkut. This is about to be true with google planning to release many applications that were being tested on Orkut Sandbox,

Starting this month, we're enabling developers to make their social applications available to orkut users. We'll start ramping up to more than 50 million people over the next few weeks.

To prepare for this growth, we're now accepting social applications. For a while now, developers have been able to write, test, and play with applications on orkut. Later this month, however, we're going to start rolling them out to orkut users. OpenSocial developers can submit their completed applications.

Well it would definitely be very interesting to see many new applications for the orkut, the site which really rocks the world!!!

Orkut Trends now Rank the State of Orkuters

Well friends,we all wonder how many people from the world are on orkut, well sometime we wonder how many people from our state are on orkut. A question came up in the orkut trends community: What is the distribution of orkut users among the different states in the US?
and according to Official Orkut Blog, the results are:
No.1 California - 20% of US orkuters
2. New York - 11 %
3. Florida - 8 %
4. Texas - 7 %
5. Massachusetts
Rounding out the top ten were New Jersey -- referred to by some as "Joisey" -- at 6%, my home state of Illinois (4%), Georgia (2.5%), Pennsylvania (2.5%) and Virginia (2.4%). Other states making up more than 1% of our US user base were Washington (2.3%), Michigan (2%), Ohio (2%), Connecticut (1.9%), Maryland (1.7%), North Carolina (1.6%), Arizona (1.4%), Minnesota (1.1%), and Colorado (1%). Least represented were the sparsely populated states of North Dakota (.07%), South Dakota (.07%), and Wyoming (.06%).

If you're on orkut with Internet Explorer, click on the link for "New! Upload multiple photos" on your albums page. It takes you through an instructions page for installing the application needed to upload multiple photos at once.

Many of us do search on how to save our orkut passwords from being hacked, but for this purpose my friends we should know how they actually gets hacked yes this may stream strange, but in India there is a filmy saying "zehar hi zehar ko marta hai", which means poison can be cured by poison only, so for saving our accounts from being hacked we should actually first know how to hack an orkut account. I was searching some stuff on youtube when i actually got this video, which i would like to share all of you and i hope you also learn about how our accounts got hacked! Ya i know its little geeky but i guess we all have some kind of technical knowledge :)

Last Login Feature Added

Wow, Orkut Team is all set to add more feature to orkut this year than they did in 2007. The latest feature added by them is Last Login Feature...

This feature will be helpful to see whether someone other than you accessed your orkut account and will also prove useful to see if anybody have your password, if you happen to see that it is showing the last login time at which you have not login on orkut, " This should be taken as RED SIGNAL and you should change your password immediately!"

Well its your community you have worked very hard for making it and reaching it to the level it has reached now, you have sufficient members now who come to your community for the content posted in it, well google now enables you to make your community's content visible only to your members.
Yes now community members can restrict the non members from viewing the content posted in the community, but it does not restrict in any way the members of the community to access the content in any way, if used in the right way this option will provide increase in the no. of members to the communities and community owners will be able to get more control over their communities.
If you own any communities Here's How you can do this:
Go to Your Community.
Now go to Edit Profile Option
Here you will see this option as shown in this pic.Now if you want to keep the content open to non members leave it as it is and if you want to hide it select the hidden option and save it, and you are done my friend...

Well how many times we have been annoyed for sending a few links to our friends and have faced the problem of filling up captcha again and again... but not any more now we can send links without any captcha filling on orkut ...
Captcha filling is employed by websites to stop spam, but with this hack spammers will be having a fun day at orkut.
Here's how to do it pal...
1. http://www.orkut.com/ClickTracker.aspx?url=//////www.yourlink.com
2. Edit the 'your link' in the link with the one you want to send and paste them in your scraps.
3. Do NOT remove the six slashes before www.yourlink.com
4. Enjoy Sending the links without filling the word verification

Note: 'http://' wont work, 'www' works flawlessly.
