In search of a podium to present and store his work of art, poetries and stories, Pawandheer, a 21 year old media student came up with a unique but productive idea. He created a community on orkut, where luckily he met people of same heart and mind which further added an extra color, satisfaction and spice of happiness, friendship and joyful life which Pawandheer never ever expected or imagined and certainly now that small community which was started a year back has became one of the most active community of orkut.

Orkut Photo Gallery MPG is more than what its sounds. However, Pawandheer the founder of this community named it “My Love Tales – Forever in Ur Heart” at the first day when he created this community on orkut, and then it was just to store the chapters of his own written novel. After few months when he started adding his own designs and collection of pictures, he renamed the community as “My Photo Gallery MPG” which now became Orkut Photo Gallery MPG.Multi talented and a very cautious observer of nature and people around him, Pawandheer soon realized the potential of social networking platform orkut. And to make Orkut Photo Gallery MPG his second home, he got several hands on his shoulder to stand by, to support him to make his dream a common dream of all Orkut Photo Gallery MPG members. He obtained support of more then 30 people from different locations of world and they turned into a team called, Team MPG which acts as a team of moderators and active members who take care of all community activities.

Because of such a dedicated team, Orkut Photo Gallery MPG has more than 40,000 photos and graphics in more than 200 threads posted by more than 1000 active members out of 2500 total strength of members. Not only photos, but there are also many innovative and useful threads which keep bumping up, like thread for yoga enthusiasts, woman’s day special, mother’s day special, blood donation, global friend’s meet, threads for creative people, artists and many games thread which the MPGians believe is a time pass but not time waste because their games threads are also interesting and something from which people can learn. Like word building and visualize quiz to name a few.

“Expressing Our Feelings in the best way as we can …”

“Some Feelings Can Be Expressed Better in Silence,

If the Silence takes a Shape,

It would be a Beautiful Picture!

A Picture of our Heart …”

This Community to EXPRESS & CELEBRATE ALL OUR FEELINGS!The above is an excerpt from the theme of the community shared by Pawandheer in an interview on rated-wow! Pawandheer said that this community is not just a community of like minded people but it’s a place to share your knowledge and skills, it’s a place to learn to sharpen your abilities, it’s a place where you can create your own path to your dreams, its the reflection and celebration of your own feelings.

This community is also special because every member in this community is real, the MPG team takes care that whoever joins this community should not be any fake profile creator which is one of the common problem in orkut.com. The well organized and high spirited team of moderators and active members make this community one of the best online hangouts on orkut. Praneeth, one of the moderator and active member took the initiative and contacted orkutheroes to visit their community, which shows how concerned and proud, are they of their wonderful community.

If you are thinking that after giving so many precious hours on this community, what these people got in real life, then wait a moment. Orkut Photo Gallery and Team MPG are coming up with a Youth Magazine for Indian youngsters very soon, it would be a monthly publication and the core team members will be behind it and not to forget their community would be the main inspiration.

The biggest and most precious gift they all got from this community is the bond of love and respect between them, the friendship which is never going to break, though they never met each other but still their souls and hearts are together.

Team MPG is planning to organize meetings according to their respective cities very soon. This is going to strengthen their relation more. What more someone can expect from social networking, unless you know how to use it.

“Please don’t end this world of orkut ever, because we cannot bear that pain and probably it will take us month to recover” these are the words of Pawandheer for orkut officials and staff, when he was asked to convey any message through orkutheroes to orkut staff. These words surely sound like directly from his heart, because of the love and affection he has now for his orkut community, his team and community members.

Vamsy, one of a fan of Orkut photo Gallery said, I want to say just 3 things about this community… awesome pics, superb team work, and sweet people to make friends with. Another community freak Jayashankar says, its totally different community than any other, flooded with new thought, new events. I never had seen an awesome community like this. Here we can see so many innovations; we can sharpen our talent here. These people are really doing fantastic job in this view, there is an opportunity to create, learn, and share everything. Every thread has its own specialty. I have learned so many things here. I always forget myself when I am in mpg! Thank you Pawan for creating such a beautiful comm.!If you are an Artist, a poet, a novelist, a graphic designer or even if you little bit of creativity then do not miss to join this community. The youngest member of this community is a 13 year old girl who is an artist and the eldest member is a 58 year old poet. The members are from India, United states, Australia, UK etc. Its a small world of its own.

Being one of the most unique blog of its kind, orkutheroes.com has already completed its 1st successful year on internet on 23rd March 2009. Yes we know its 4 months passed. It’s just a matter of time and a inexcusable coincidence that we could not able to celebrate our 1st birthday as planned. But, luckily orkutheroes got two small and beautiful birthday gifts, first on June 29th when an exclusive story on orkutheroes.com was published in ERGO magazine which is a free supplement of a prestigious Indian daily newspaper The Hindu. And second on July 3rd when we installed a new and better theme/design for orkutheroes to make it look more professional and easy to navigate.

Monisha Mohandas, a reporter from ERGO approached us and took a brief interview of both founder and co-owner of orkutheroes Zaheer Abbas (zazo) and Tarannum (Tara) and gave us an honorable recognition. I would say that it’s just a start and there are more like this on its way.

Thanks! A big thanks to all our readers, who continuously supported us, trusted us and helped us in coming through all this way. Congratulations! To all those individuals and orkut community owners and moderators whose stories, interviews and community reviews are published on OrkutHeroes.com.

However, our blog is not any official award but definitely a reward to those who are utilizing their precious online time on doing something good for others, while many of us just think “being online is nothing but fun”.

Thanks to Orkut.com, its founder, owner Google. Because of them we exist. Thanks for making orkut.com our home on Internet.

Special thanks to Michael Jubel of ColorlabProjects.com and Gaurav Khanna of Elixir Technologies Pvt. Ltd. for every support and help they provided in making this site beautiful.

I wish that the success saga of Orkut Heroes continues for years and hope to see orkut.com spread all over the world bridging the cultures, societies and friends.

What could be a better use of a social networking site if you can successfully shed some extra pounds from your over weighted body? But how social networking can help you in losing weight? Sounds strange, but that’s true. Weight Loss is an online group on Orkut.com, one of the successful orkut community which is responsible of changing the lives and lifestyles of many who wish to lose weight.
This article is in fact a story of Weight Loss community and its members; this is Orkuthero’s tribute to those who used their online time in helping others on weight loss community and an honor to those who with their strong fortitude and confidence made the impossible, possible.
Weight loss community was started by Prashant M.D., a Bangalore based techie who himself lost 30 kg of weight and just to share his new life experience with other’s he made this community on orkut. In his own words
“The motivation to start the community was my own story by which I lost all my weight from 100 to 70. I was a fat guy for almost 22 years….I started doing workouts for 3 hrs a day with a consistent diet and lost my weight. I was so much impressed by my new body and it’s benefits of being lean, I just wanted to spread the joy of the new life. That’s how the Weight lose Community got started on orkut.”
Prashant’s success story was just a start of weight lose community, today there are several other success stories like Prashant and many others who want to share their story of joy and happiness of getting a new life. All forum threads in the community are full of training schedules, queries, problems, diet, exercises etc. Finally, the member’s shares their ‘Before” and “after” photos with each other on Transformation Photo Thread.
Weight Lose community has a big group of members from different professional health care backgrounds like dieticians, doctors and fitness trainers who help those members, who seriously want to lose weight.
Raygun is one such active and devoted moderator of this community. Raygun himself is a body builder and a fitness trainer and aspire to become ISSA Certified (International Sports Sciences Association). When asked about the best transformations on weight lose community till now, Raygun said that
One of the best transformations was done by my friend Archana.
She is from Gurgaon near Delhi & she trains at Fitness First International Gym. She reduced from 67 kilos to 50 kilos. She follows an 8 meal diet & I shall let the readers know her training routine.

Monday – 25 rounds (50 times) Surya namaskar + One hour of Muay Thai Kickboxing
( kick boxing usually has 15 min skipping + 5 min boxer’s roundabout with a 5 kg medicine ball+ sometimes more cardio with medicine ball+ pushups+ warm up + kicking+ boxing+ Ends with rigorous abs exercises for 5-10 min.

Tuesday – 25 rounds Surya namaskar + Upper body weight training.

Wednesday – 25 rounds Surya namaskar + Body pump for one hour + Lower body weight training.

Thursday – 25 rounds Surya namaskar + Yoga class for one hour + Abs.

Friday – 25 rounds Surya namaskar + HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training).

Saturday – 25 rounds (50 times) Surya namaskar + Kickboxing class for one hour.

Sunday – 25 rounds (50 times) Surya namaskar + Body Combat class / Body Balance (1 hour).
“I was stuck I wasn’t able to lose my weight further with the normal diet.
Two months back I started with the 8 meal diet (must if you really want to lose fat) and RAYGUN’S WEIGHT TRAINING PROGRAMME (must if want to lose fat as well as tone up you body).” – Archana
Besides giving training and diet schedules Raygun also takes care to keep contact with everyone who are taking his guidance seriously. The community members share a very close relationship between them, like cheering up when someone loses 10 pounds and motivating other who are facing any tough situations.
The community has strength of more than 3000 people and most of them are quiet active, this keeps the forum threads lively so one can accept new threads or new replies in every mins and hours. Like Raygun, Venu Unnikrishnan a senior moderator and highly respected in the community, along with Dr Hemant Mittal and Pardhiva are strong team of Moderators.
Raygun was invited on our Rated-wow community showcase on orkut and was interviewed about this super community and these fantastic people who know how to make their dreams come true. Like Archana there are many other wonderful victorious stories which will always be thankful to orkut and weight loss community for giving them a platform where they can share, discuss and get guidance from their friends and professionals and finally achieve that confidence and spark in their life which they were missing since long.

The above image is of Satender who lost 9kg of weight in 30 days.

The above image of Pratap Koshi whose starting weight was 175 kgs.
Last but not least, a lesson for many of us. Weight Loss community member’s dedication is praise worthy; they achieved everything by themselves for themselves, and for their family and for their life.

Sameep, tell us about yourself, your childhood, and family background. How your journey started?

I am born in a musical family. All members in my family are devoted to academics and music. My father is a mathematicians and a violinist. My mother is a PhD, science teacher and a vocalist. My sister is a professional international artist – a vocalist. I have completed my engineering with distinction in instrumentation and control from V.I.T. College, Pune and now working as a Senior Software Engineer in Coreobjects software for last 5 years. (www.coreobjects.com)

How my journey in music started:

I started learning tabla at the age of 6 and one year later I heard the sitar by Ustad Vilayat Khan and fell in love with the instrument, so I told my parents that I want to learn sitar. So I started learning sitar at the age of 7 under Ustad Usman Khan in Pune. He nurtured the sitar skills in me for 13 years. Then I heard Ustad Shahid Parvez in a live concert and was attracted immensely by his style. So since then I am learning under him for last 6 years. I did my first concert at the age of 8, since then I have been doing concerts for last 18 years continuously. I also did learn tabla for 12 years in parallel with sitar, but now only concentrating on sitar and have left the tabla completely.

Along with a well known and successful Sitarist, you are also a senior software engineer. This is an unusual yet great combination. Wasn’t managing balance between these two entirely different streams difficult? What guidelines did you follow and managed to achieve victory in both these fields?

Yes, managing the balance between these two streams is extremely difficult. I do have to sacrifice many things to achieve my goal in life. I work in my office for the whole day in embedded software applications and then I go home and practice sitar from 9 pm to 2 am daily J and I do concerts on weekends when I have holiday from my office.

I have performed in more than 500 concerts up till now. I don’t get time for outing, seeing movies, attending family functions etc. much but I utilize the time I get in best possible way. I do devote the whole time in my life either for software field or sitar.

That’s why I have been called as “The Software Sitarist”, “The Corporate Artist” and “The Mathematical Musician” I manage this Herculean task by being very punctual and by completing everything with sincerity, concentration and devotion.

Is music simply a hobby for you, which you do in spare time for self satisfaction or it’s the central area of work in your life? Is it a passion for you?

Music is a passion for me. I don’t consider it as a profession or a hobby. It’s a life for me. Whatever time I get, I devote it to music. I get immense satisfaction in doing live concerts everywhere, meeting and working with different musicians and artists.

When did you realized, that fame is coming your way and did it affected you in any way? According to you, does it change the entire personality or only one’s living style?

Actually even though it feels nice to get the fame, it’s never the goal for me. My aim has always been to perform in the live concerts and spread the awareness of music in the world and also to enrich the lives of people with the music, the best gift to the mankind.

But to be honest, fame doesn’t change a bit of a person in me. I am always a simple guy next door living normal and simple lifestyle. I always believe in being a humble person.

Did this journey of reaching people through your music, give you tough times? If yes, what were they and how did you managed to come out of it?

Yes, always there have been tough times I have experienced in my musical career. The lives of musicians are always full of surprises and contain the maximum ups and downs. The artists always experience the maximum sorrow and maximum happiness in life. The life of artists is never very straight and smooth J I did overcome the tough times in my career by being mentally tough, being more patient and with immense hard work…

Since you started, till this date, what was your best moment, or the most memorable event, that you will like to cherish throughout your life and why?

I have performed in numerous concerts till now. But last year my concert was been organized in Ahmednagar, a city in Maharashtra. I knew previously that concert is going to be huge but when I reached the venue and went on the stage, I could see total 50,000 people were in the audience. The concert was organized on a sports ground with people sitting on the ground and in the stands and some people on trees to get to see the concert. This was the biggest concert I ever did. All people were clapping, whistling and encouraging me for the concert.

You can see the live video at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6Nrru2e6Yk

I can never forget that moment in my life. Life is not about how many breaths you take but it’s all about how moments take your breath away. That was the most memorable concert.

Also, I performed in a Cancer hospital where all the people in the audience were the last stage cancer patients. They were lying on the cots and some were really critically ill, but they were enjoying the concert. I was touched to know that not a single person in the audience will be alive for my next concert there. It was very touchy and memorable experience for me.

What is your ultimate aim or goal for life?

To be a topmost and very successful ‘Software Sitarist’ / ‘Corporate Artist’ / ‘Mathematical Musician’ in the world.

In today’s time, when the face of music has changed and is eventually changing more, how do you feel about this change? Where do you see it going in the coming time?

Yes, a lotttttt of changes are happening in music now a day. It’s the era of the globalization. Different cultures are coming closer and closer and due to that different types of music are getting closer and closer. Each genre of the music in the world has the effect of the other genre of the music. Like, classical has effect of fusion music, pop music has effect of rock, fusion music has effect of pop and the cycle is continuing People are getting exposed to *all* genres of music and people are seeming to enjoy all kinds of music.

I feel that there will be a time in future that it will be a mix of genres of music. There won’t be boundaries of any genre. I mean any kind of music will be mix of all genres.

I would say to it as “GLOBALIZATION IN THE MUSIC”

What message or tips will you like to give them?

The struggling musicians who do a lot hard work, who undergo pain but still continue their goals with the same enthusiasm and who have great patience can really have the bright future. I would like to give them the message that, ‘keep on working hard with the constant enthusiasm and high amount of patience’.

To be honest my driving force is the goal set by myself to achieve my dreams. Members of IPFC both from India and Pakistan love him and respect him. Aminur is known to be a friendly, mature and a trusted person in IPFC circle. He is also a co-owner of this community; I got a chance to talk with Aminur about his views on India and Pakistan, and his life.

Let me share this interesting interview with you all.

Aminur, please introduce yourself. Your location, profession, birth place etc.

I was born, in Purnia, a small town in Bihar where my dad was posted. I hail from Bhagalpur Bihar, from where I completed my high school, from St Andrew’s school. I then moved to Aligarh where I completed my higher secondary and engineering from Aligarh Muslim University. It was a great stay and learning experience at AMU. I always wonder, why we stopped at just one AMU, which is indeed doing great work providing exemplary healthy environment to students from different parts of India, especially Muslims.

Currently I am working in our Software industry, and at present located in Munich, Germany.

India and Pakistan are known more as a rivals than as friends, what captured your interest in joining a community like IPFC (India Pakistan Friendship Club)?

You said it all. India and Pakistan are indeed rivals. For a number of people from both sides, our patriotism starts and ends with bashing Pakistan (if we are Indians) or bashing India if we are Pakistani. I will be frank here, to say, when I saw this community created by Rahul, a friend of mine, I joined as an inquisitive member, as a member to know how our Indian counterparts has taken this idea of friendship, what is the reaction of Pakistani members. But once I joined, it was never a coming back.

Your journey in IPFC is quiet successful as a moderator, member, mentor and friends of many community members, how do you think personally about it? Is IPFC successful to its mission?

Like I said, I joined the community as an inquisitive member, but then what community provided me was a platform to know people. To interact with them, heated or normal, does not matter. What was more important was we were interacting, and in turn, got a chance to know each other, what the people at other side of the border feels, which normally never happens. We always see people from different field crossing borders and saying good/bad about each other, but interaction between common people of both side and knowing their views, uncensored was a great step ahead. In turn, I met lots of reasonable people from both side of the borders and I feel happy about it.

I would call IPFC moving ahead towards success, albeit slowly. People often complain that the community looks more than a fight club instead of a friendship club, where members keep on fighting. What I say to them is, it’s always the new members who keep on coming back to heated arguments. In IPFC what I have observed is, people join at times with intention to hit back at members from outside, they start with blaming each other, and in span of time, start believing in message of friendship. And then we get new set of people, joining in, starting the same again. So looking from this point of view, you see, with each cycle the community is changing hearts of few, if not many.

What I regret is that IPFC has not done much outside web world, which many feel is just a virtual world. We have come up with an excellent web-site [self praise ]http://ipfc.info to reach out the people outside orkut world and are trying hard to see how we can spread the message in real world as well. In fact you can also help us in the mission; any idea from your side, to help us will always be appreciated.

After 26/11 terror attack on Mumbai, India, both Indians and Pakistani citizens find a big gap between themselves, both politically and socially. Was IPFC affected with it too?

Yes, IPFC was affected as well. There was surge of emotions from both sides. While members, both Pakistani and Indians condemned the horrendous, inhuman attacks in equal terms, but their approach in who were the perpetrators of the crime, was different. And then there were, like always, heated arguments.

But then what was satisfying in the end that members from both side agreed that its common people from both side who are suffering at the hands of this monster, Terrorism.

Aminur, what are your political views on India and Pakistan? Nowadays, the least relation with Pakistan i.e. “cricket” has also disappeared. In all this, your community IPFC looks like a challenge or a dream. Politically and diplomatically what could be the best solution of this unsolved rivalry of more than 50 years?

My Political views on India and Pakistan is totally different. I don’t see the two nations to be friends politically in near future. Even if the current government decides to go the friendship way, you never know with change in governments and in turn the policies, the same can continue.

I would like to see politicians leaving the friendship for the common people of the country and instead taking care of building an environment of trust, an environment where both the nation could look into their internal problems first, without poking the nose in each other’s affairs. Let politicians of both countries forget what is happening on the other side of the border, and contribute towards the internal problem of their nation (which ironically is similar for both the countries, for e.g. terrorism, illiteracy, malnutrition, women exploitation, child exploitation)

The only solution what I have felt is via more of people to people interaction. Free border is a distant possibility in near future, but once we achieve that then it can shed many of the myths about people from both sides. Ask any of the cricket fans, who have crossed the border from either side to cheer up their team; they will always talk highly of the treatment they would have got from the local people. So when these small flows of people have produced positive result, why not let the larger chunk of people to move from one side to other. Yes, there will be security concerns and other concerns as well, but then we all need to sort those concerns, instead of just curtailing the relationship itself.

Then there is not to be talked about Kashmir problem, where both the nations seem to be reluctant to decide about it. This problem must also be solved, (although it’s not as easy as said) taking the interests of Kashmiris in account.

Regarding disappearing of cricket, I feel it was a blessing in disguise. Imagine what happened to Srilankan cricketers, if it would have happened with Indian cricketers. The relationship would have taken a further dip.

What was the toughest phase of your life and how did you came out of it? Please share.

Alhamdullilah, life has treated me very well so far. And even if I try to recall from pages of past, I am not able to find any thing, which really was tough or unusually unfortunate for me. I hope, Lord treats me the same he has been treating so far.

What is your ultimate goal in life?

To excel technically and to be at the level of whom I consider as my role models. Apart from the career related goal, I do wish to be a better human, each passing day.

Besides, I also wish to see an EU like union, in our south Asia, at least in my life time. I am not sure if it is realistic or not, but then nothing wrong in dreaming.

Do you have any role model? Please describe.

Yes, I do have role models. In my professional life, I find professionalism in Sathish Kumar, Steve Muench, and Thomas kurian – all the three from previous company. Sathish Kumar was my manager having excellent managerial skills, along with exemplary technical skills. He has contributed a lot in shaping up my career in positive way.

Steve Muench is one person; you would like to have knowledge like.

Thomas Kurian is the most apt person to lead any organization. These are the guys who motivate you to go the extra miles at your workplace.

There are many people apart from my professional life, who inspire me a lot.

How is the life in Germany? Do you miss India?

Life in Germany is good. There’s lot of things to learn from German colleagues. But yes, I do miss India at times. Specially during festive time. Although to make it up, we tried celebrating festivals together, e.g There was a celebrations and get together on Diwali and Eid as well but then, I feel nothing can beat being at home during festive time.

I will also miss the elections hungama this time as well. Unfortunately, I was out of India, even last time we had elections at center in India. That is a big loss to miss all the fun and action.

Aminur what are your favorite pass time, any hobbies?

Well my favorite stress buster was sharing tea with my friends on our regular Tea stall in the evening when I was in India. I am missing the fun. Apart from that, I enjoy playing badminton a lot.

I do have this unusual habit of flying kite, whenever I get a chance.

Any memorable moment from IPFC community you would like to share?

Definitely I have one. One of our IPFC member’s neighbor was coming to Bangalore, to get their kid operated at Narayana Hridiyala Bangalore. He was skeptical about how the city may treat them, and he asked us, since we were in Bangalore to take care of them. It was a memorable period to meet them. Unfortunately the doctors were not able to save the kid, but the couple did went back with a positive feedback for my country – that was indeed satisfying moment.

26/11/2008 was one of the most horrifying night in the history, for India and its people when a handful of beasts entered our place and ruined it in a way which not only wounded our people’s body and mind but our heart and soul as well.

Out of all those heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their life for saving ours on the fatal night, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan was among those brave commandos who launched an assault operation in Taj Mahal Hotel, Mumbai, one of the seized locations by terrorist. Major Sandeep bravely kissed the martyrdom, fighting bravely, saving the other commandos and the fellow civilians. This brave son of India was born on March 15th 1977, and his martyrdom raised a flame of anger against terrorism, the flame of hope to make India united and powerful, a flame to fulfill his dreams and do not let his and many brave soldiers martyrdom go in vain.

As the night snatched away country’s sleep and peace, some young Indians made an online community on Orkut in honor of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. The very community, started with a few and has now reached at a membership of around 1600 plus members, and is proud with the fact that, father of Major Sandeep, Mr.K.UnniKrishnan, is also a part of them now. This community of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan which is the biggest, official and most genuine community of its kind on orkut is all set and determined to reach its goal and accomplish its mission of making India once again a serene place to dwell where the citizens are all united, and strong despite of any caste, religion, color and belief.

On its way towards this mission, the very first and biggest event of this community has arrived, and it’s the Big Day for them, when it’s the 32nd Birthday of the Nation’s Hero, Shaheed Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. This online community has members from all fields of life, of all ages and of different places in India as well as outside the country. The community has gone through tough phases as any of the successful communities go through and still heads at the top with all members full of fervor, and zeal to work and contribute in any little possible way they could, for their nation and the martyrs.

Graphic by: Devdeep Ahuja

There are a number of activities done by this community till date, but I am not talking about them here, as the event of Major Sandeep’s Birthday has so much in it to write about , that the other activities won’t find a place in this article. The preparations of celebrating Major Sandeep’s Birthday started weeks before. There have been several competitions held, like, MSU Birthday Poetry Contest, MSU Birthday Poster making competition. And the creations done by the members are awesome and lack words to appreciate. Many of them came up with beautiful and soulful posters and poetry with heart warming messages. Its been decided that the best poster will be framed and presented to Major’s parents in Bangalore by Anurag Chaturvedi, a member, on behalf of the community as a token of love and respect on their brave son’s birthday and convey to them , that their son is not forgotten and would never be.

The community showed the feeling of ecstasy and pride on his birthday by changing their official display picture, wishing Major Sandeep a happy birthday. There is another thread in the forum which says, “Plan on MSU Birthday- Changing DP” and it’s difficult to express in words how the community is looking when most of the members have picture of Major Sandeep as their display picture in his honor and wishing him on his birthday. Lined up in the forum are more threads, with one or the other way of celebrating the birthday like, “Wishes for our hero Major Sandeep”, “What’s your plan on MSU Birthday”, “[Birthday Special] Be with us on March 15th “Online” where all the members of the community will be getting online on yahoo messenger at a decided time, i.e. 11.00 a.m. (IST), making merry all together.

Apart from celebrations online, the community is also making best efforts for doing things offline. One of the members of the community, Rakesh Bhamare from Nashik, initiated the work and in true sense made the community feel proud. He celebrated in a grand manner with his friends at Niradhan Balsangopan orphan Home at Pune.

They followed the custom of cutting a huge birthday cake and then distributing food, ice creams and had fun playing with those lovely kids, painting, drawing and then dispensing small gifts like color pen, crayons and games etc, simply to bring a smile on those beautiful faces. The community members are waiting eagerly for the day to come, because there is another event lined up in the way to be organized, by Aditi Nandhu from Chennai, another active member of the community. She will also visit an orphanage, BABA Gurukulam, which has 105 children and 25 old age people, on behalf of the community on 15th March. The community has planned for at least managing a nice lunch for all of them. The members are all geared up and are praying for Aditi and wishing her luck to make this event a success. The community has planned to go for a newspaper article on the occasion, giving messages and wishes to Major Sandeep on his Birthday and letting the entire nation know about it. The charge of this activity is taken over by Vrinda Bajaj, a senior member of the community from Delhi.

Talking about all this may sound unusual to some people, but, the community is living this great elation each moment of their lives. For them, Birthday of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan is a matter of great pleasure, far more and above their own birthdays. Biju Krishnan, one of the most sincere members of the MSU community from UK, has been really enthusiastic about the upcoming birthday of MSU. He compiled a video of all the posters from the poster competition held in the community with songs that make us feel the warmth as if MSU is alive and smiling with us.

A birthday wish from Abhishek Tiwari, a keen young member of MSUOC, is, “hello sir, I know you are still with us in form of our inspiration because, I believe if you were not with us we would not have achieved what we have done little bit till now. It does all because of your blessings sir .I wanna wish you a very very HAPPY B’DAY! I promise you we will always continue on the path you showed us and always be ready to give 100% for my country and continue the good work for my motherland.”

Other active members like Kishore, Devdeep, Sneha, Saniya, Anil, and many more are all walking with hands together and heads high waiting for the good to happen as decided.

The MSU community is breathlessly waiting for the great day to come so that all of the members may pay their highest tribute to this Martyr, on his 31st Birthday.

We at Orkutheroes have always tried to bring in front the great deeds being done in the virtual space of Orkut through such online communities, so it was hard to resist writing about this great and praise worthy endeavor made by the member of MSU community.

Our only message to the departed soul of Major Sandeep on his Birthday is. “Long Live Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan!”

Post Updated( March 15th 2009) : The picture below is Mr & Mrs Unnikrishnan with two of the orkut community of Major Sandeep respresnetatives and active members Anurag Chaturvedi and Bikash Kumar presenting a graphic poster on behalf of the community created on occassion of Major Sandeep’s Birthday

Once upon a time three people on orkut who were crazy about music got kicked out from one of the music related communities on orkut because they were not ready to agree to the rules and regulation of that community. These three people started a new community of their own where any one can discuss music beyond any boundaries and limitations, and there came a community named Music Collective, started by Nikhil, Vats and Misha. That small community started on 13th June 2006 with little number of members has now became one of the most active music related community on orkut .

The story didn’t end here, in fact the story starts from here, that Music Collective is now father of 5 more collective communities with some of world’s most popular niches like Movies, Sports, Books ,Television and a newly started community for Gadgets and Technology.

“Collective” is a common word added in all related communities of this group of friends which made a virtual brand “Collective Franchise”

“I really can’t quantify my love for music. It’s a parallel thought process that runs continuously irrespective of what I am doing” Said Nikhil, working as an associate in a PR Firm. Nikhil owns Music Collective community on orkut. Nikhil loves music but not any particular genre, he loves to listen every kind of music but his most favorite is classic hard rock.

Music Collective is not based on any strict guidelines like most of the other orkut communities are. The members are allowed to talk anything related to music and only music. They review the latest albums and songs, they share there favorite download links and they keep on playing the sound of music by their active participation in Music Collective making it a cool place for people who love Music and want to talk about Music.

One such active member of Music Collective is Sudhang, a computer science student from Delhi and equally addicted to music like Nikhil. Sudhang use to give his maximum time on Music Collective whenever he was getting online on orkut. One fine day the Music Collective noticed that some members started topics related to movies too, which was definitely not the subject of Music Collective. But like other communities who usually warn or ban such members, Sudhang who moderates Music Collective decided to make another platform for movie freaks and named it Cine Collective.

Cine Collective is the first community linked to Music Collective, those who wish to talk about Movies independently, unboundedly and deeply than that’s the best place for them.

Just 3 days after the first birthday of Music Collective, Cine Collective was launched. The rules are almost same like its parent community but members are relatively less than Music Collective. But Sudhang has an answer for it when asked “How is the experience till now in Cine Collective? Can I say it’s a growing community or it’s simply a group of friends’ crazy about movies?”

“We really are too lazy to want world domination and 1000 members etc. In fact, I’m glad we don’t have too many members; else every thread becomes “would you like to kiss/kick, fuck/shoot the above person” said Sudhang.

Cine Collective was a revolutionary step which encouraged other active members of Music Collective to spread there branch and soon after the launch of Cine Collective on 16th June 2007, there came up another collective community for sports with the name “Sport’s Collective” . Thereafter 2 days “Books Collective” and in next 2 days came, “Telly Elective” and the latest in the year 2009 is “Geeks Collective”.

Sports Collective was started by Engel, definitely a sport’s enthusiast who made sport’s collective forums with really entertaining, informative and deep discussions related to any sports from cricket, soccer to WWE. The strength of the members in Sports Collective is not more than 150 but the activity meter is higher in compare to those orkut communities with 100,000+ members.

One by one, more communities added to the Collective Franchise owned by Nikhil, Misha , vats, Sudhang, Engel and their friends attracted me so much that I decided to review all of them in a single article but unfortunately I could manage to convince only Nikhil and Sudhang for an interview but again it was my hard luck that both guys are damn busy with their work commitments.

Well, I still couldn’t stop myself writing about these beautiful groups of communities on orkut, even though some of the friends of Sudhang took it too funny or casual being spotted by me and a small interview of Sudhang on Rated-wow! Community showcase, which is the only community on orkut created as a showcase of best orkut communities.

Coming back to the collective series and their success, you will notice that the upper 3 communities (Music, Movies and Sports) are enjoying a successful ride but the rest communities( Books, Television and Geeks) are fighting hard to survive, though geek collective is still a new born baby of collective franchise.

All over, it was a pleasant traverse for me when I hardly find time to dig those best out of best Individual community to put them in our community showcase. Nikhil and Sudhang helped me a lot in providing me information and talking to me about their superb online endeavor.

This is the first time on OrkutHeroes when I published an article for not one, two or three but 6 different communities. Let me say, it’s another revolutionary step by OrkutHeroes.com in one year to provide best information on orkut communities and people.

“If you do what you have always done, you will only get what you have always go”.

“Pain is weakness leaving the body.”

“I want to make the sport of bodybuilding popular and educate the youth about the goodness of bodybuilding. And achieve my best possible physique and reach the top most position for a natural bodybuilder.”

These are the phrases and his wish for a lifetime, he wrote this on his orkut profile description. Murali Vijaykumar is a 24 year old young, soft spoken and friendly man who widely known as Biglee Murali, is an IT professional from Chennai,Tamil Nadu. This is surely just a half introduction of this personality who grabbed the million eyes from his greasy and finely carved muscles on the stage of Mr. Tamil Nadu Body Building Championship in 2008. Though he won several awards and honors before but this one is the biggest and most prestigious for him till date, however his ultimate aim is Mr. Olympia.

Biglee Murali is a perfect show maker, not only in bodybuilding arena but also on a virtual network like orkut where he almost crossed the limit of adding friends in his orkut profile which is more than 900 and his fans are touching the mark of 200.

He is also the moderator of many bodybuilding and fitness related communities of orkut, one such active community is Google Gym Exercisers which have more than 14,000 members participating in different fitness related discussions and sharing useful contents.

Murali Vijaykumar aka Biglee Murali’s interview is now on orkutheroes.com!. It’s my pleasure that Biglee gave his valuable time and answered my questions; this interview is surely a very useful resource for body building enthusiasts and also very inspiring and motivational. Biglee disclosed many memorable parts of his life, his views and his dreams in this interview.

Interview with Biglee Murali:

Please tell us you’re detailed but a short biography. Your childhood, your parents, school and college education and profession.

I was born to angels (my mom and dad). They were always supportive in whatever I wanted to do. My brother always gives me a helping shoulder in whatever I do. I had my schooling in Shri Anand Jain Vidhyalaya and did my engineering graduation in computer science from GKM College of engg. & Tech. I was a mediocre student in my school and college. I learnt classical music and other stuffs in my childhood like many children of my age, was a good athlete during my school days.

Is Body Building is something you would like to call “a dream come true”? or its started just by chance? Please shed some light on your introduction to the world of Bodybuilding?

As I said that I was a good athlete in school days. Once I saw a Tamil magazine for bodybuilding (MASTER) on a book stall and bought it with all the money that I had gathered during the month. It had the picture of “6 Times Mr. Olympia Dorian Yates”. I took it home and told my dad that I will be like this one day. My dad promised me that if get more than 90% score in my 12th, he would allow me to join a gym. He knew what would drive me to study well …… I studied so hard and made 93% out of my exams and the very next day my dad enrolled me into a gym. And that is how I started bodybuilding. Yeah it was a dream at the beginning, but slowly it became my lifestyle.

From my little knowledge about body building, I guess it’s not a poor man’s cup of tea. You need to have good amount of money to bear the expenses. Is it true? If not, than how it is possible for an average middle class person to get into this game?

As you said it is a rich man’s sport. You need at least 150 rupees per day for your contest dieting alone (which lasts for about three months). That is the reason why I was not able to go beyond district or university level during my college days. My parents gave me a major part of their earnings so that I would be able to pursue my passion, but still needs were big. That is the reason why I am doing better in the field of bodybuilding after I started earning. My approach would be to save as much as I can for contests and spend it for the contest preparation and cut down the expenses during my off seasons.

Your latest and biggest win is Mr. Tamil Nadu 2008, how was the experience that time and what’s next in the card?

Every athlete competes in this world to win and when you win….. Man I was on cloud 9 and can’t express it in words. I believe in one step at a time. So now that I have won state championship I look forward to competing in nationals by 2010.

Murali, how your day starts? Would you like to share your diet and work out schedules?

I believe that variety keeps me more motivated towards my goals so I make small changes to my workout schedule and diet schedule often. I read the responses of my body and make constant modifications to make my gains optimal.

In off season I keep my carbohydrates and protein high. I take about 6 meals a day. Train for about 5 days a week. I don’t believe in quantity workouts but I believe in quality workouts so I don’t spend more than 45 mins in the gym per session.

During my contest preparation I keep my protein high and keep my carbohydrates and fats in moderate levels’ take about 8 meals a day, I train with weights for 6 days a week and do 3-5 cardio session per week.

Typically my day starts with a strong coffee like most of the Indians do. Then I spend about an hour in orkut, answer peoples through scraps and answer people in discussions. Then I have my breakfast and leave to office and I train in the evenings and come back home.

I train at my office gym and Masters Gym.

Being an IT professional how do you manage the time for your passion? Did you ever thought to take your passion as your full time profession?

I believe that if you love something you won’t be able to stay away from it and you will surely make time for it. When an It professional can make out time for fun and family why not for his passion???

What more a person can expect – “Passion becoming work and getting paid for it”. Yeah I will have an eye on it, but as of now I am happy with whatever I am doing.

What do you think about future of body building and body builders of India, if compared to the international arena? Do you think, this sport is taken seriously both by the sports authority and the enthusiasts?

Future is always uncertain, but I wish to bring in a change in the bodybuilding arena. In India we don’t get much attention to sports other than cricket. But slowly the sport of bodybuilding is also crawling its way up…

The sport is definitely taken seriously by all the athletes. Let me give you an example… “A bodybuilder spends about 150-200 Indian Rupees per day for 8-12 weeks of his contest preparation. The prize money that he takes home is no more than 5000 Indian rupees. It is sheer passion that the iron warriors put up without expecting anything in return.

In International area we don’t have many achievements because we do not have any sponsors for our sport like any other sports in India. Provided the money and moral support, Indians can be on top of not only bodybuilding but any given sport.

Having a six pack abs, a muscular biceps and a broad chest is always a biggest dream or a target for most of the gym going Indians youths. You must have experienced this while answering people everyday isn’t? What is your answer or a tip to have a firm and muscular build?

Yes. I get many repetitive questions daily. That was the reason for starting my own blog so that I can write about the common things and I need not answer the same thing day in and day out. But still I will explain things in short for you…

Each individual is different and one has to read his body while taking up any physical activities and make necessary changes. Initially you won’t be able to read the body and that is the reason why I advise you to get a good coach in the beginning.

There is no secret formula for muscular body and looks. You are what you eat and how you work. After all that is how our genetics evolved. So train hard, avoid junk food, Eat plenty of good foods rich in protein and fiber like chicken, eggs, vegetables, low fat milk products, seasonal fruits etc.

And one more thing, don’t be a copy cat. Don’t copy the diet and workout of your hero as you may have an entirely different genetics compared to him. So choose and follow what suits best for you and not for your hero.

In one of my questions above, I asked you about the time management but forgot to mention your online activities which are mostly in different body building and fitness communities on orkut, writing and updating your own blog and answering people by scrap messages and emails. Please tell us which are those main orkut communities you participate actively and what benefits you get being online? Is it a waste of time or a constructive use of time?

Had that been a waste of time you won’t be talking to this complete stranger rite???

Let me tell you one thing straight, more than learning in the gym I learn a lot from the net. It makes me think from different angle and allow me to innovate my workouts. At times people ask me questions about things which I don’t know. But that gives me a direction to learn something new. So staying online is like a meditation for me. It’s a wonderful learning experience and what more would you want when you can solve someone problem and make his life happy?

I don’t restrict myself to communities but make sure that I visit all the communities that I own and moderate like, Dorian Yates fan club, Google gym exercise, Nutrition questions answered, Gyan guru and couple of my fan clubs started by my orkut friends.

Other than this I participate in answering questions in Yahoo Answers, internet discussion boards especially in Milos Sarcev discussion board.

You are famous by the name “Biglee”, who gave you this name and how?

I was one of the big guys in my college and locality. So at times they used to call me Big Murali which slowly got transformed into biglee.

From the day you started pumping in gym till today, your journey was full of excitement, success and lots of hard works and training. Who trained you in all this way and how supportive was your family and friends? Any thanks giving message to them?

Though people see bodybuilding is an individual sport, I see it as a team sport and I have to thank a lot of people for that. I will mention some of the most important people here.

First of all I thank God for giving me a wonderful family. My mom, dad and brother are three pillars of my life not only in bodybuilding but for my very existence.

Next I want to thank my best friend Sandhya who supports and motivates me right from my college days.

I thank my first coach who thought me bodybuilding – Mr. M. Arasu, Former Mr. India and national coach.

I want to thank Orkut!!! Why? Murtuza my orkut friend called me one day and told that he can help me in overcoming my weak points and motivated me and stood as a guardian angel guiding me through my training and diet.

I want to thank my team (Murtuza, Lakshmi Kumar & Shrimathi) for working wonders in my bodybuilding career.

Any hobbies other than body building?

I generally like to discuss about fitness online, writing blogs and learning about bodybuilding. Also I do all kinds of pass time like movies, music, chats etc.

What is your ultimate goal in life?

For any bodybuilder Mr. Olympia would be the ultimate goal, so is mine. But as I said earlier, I and my team believe in going one step at a time. So I am working towards Nationals now and will slowly climb my way towards it.

Why most of the times writers describe India as a country of many colors? Is that because of its population which is world’s biggest after China? No, that wouldn’t be the correct answer to define the remark “colorful”. There could be several other reasons but its different cultures, traditions, festivals and 100s of different local, tribal and ethnic languages, is one of the main reasons out of numerous others which define India as a country of several colors.

India has 28 different states which makes The Republic of India. Each state has its own cultural identity and among all, one such historic and rich cultural state of India is Kerala, situated on the southern coast of Arabian ocean, Kerala is known for its natural beauty, prosperous history and culturally loaded community. More to this, Kerala is also one of the highest literate states of India. Over the years, Kerala is also recognized as a favorite tourist spot and has earned names like “Paradise of Earth”, “God’s Country” etc.

Merely, the above two small paragraphs won’t do justice to describe this astonishing Indian state, but I apologize to you for not writing more about Kerala because this article is essentially devoted to the inimitable group of people connected to Kerala either emotionally, biologically or historically. These people are proud to call themselves Mallu. The word “Mallu” originates from the distinctive state language of Kerala which is popularly known as “Malayalam” and those Malayalam speaking people are sometimes being addressed as “Mallu” in short or either in a form of slang. So what? Is there anything special about it? Answer is yes! There is. The Mallu we are talking here are actually not only Mallus but they added one extra word before their identity as Mallu. And, that word is “fraud”; Fraud Mallu is a group of people we discovered on orkut. But please don’t take the meaning of Fraud literally here; it’s not to disrespect or hurt any Malyalees or Keralites. The concept behind the Fraud Mallu Community is well written on their community description which says,

“This group is open to all mallus brought up outside Kerala and whose Malayalam is pathetic. If you get your ass taken about your Malayalam every time u visit mallu land, if nosey and nasal relatives make you stick out like a sore thumb… then you’ll fit right in. just so you know..This group has been made by one kannadiga-mallu and one Guajarati-mallu.
Let your virthiketta malayalam flow…!”

To explain the above description more broadly: Fraud Mallu is a community on orkut social network dedicated for people who belong to Kerala but their upbringing was done somewhere outside Kerala. This physical distance from their state, its language and culture kept them aloof from the mainstream Keralites which effected their language and tradition to some extent. Thus, two roommates entrenched to Kerala living in U.S started calling each other fraud because of their inability to speak fluent malayalam, they were completely unaware of the fact that one day, their funny remarks to each other will create a strength of more than 8000 people together on a virtual land.

If the above definition isn’t satisfying enough for you than have a look on what Nishanth Radhakrishnan has to say about Fraud Mallu, which in short is known as FM.

“Fraud Mallu” is not a South Indian Orkut community; for starters: its premise is meeting ground of Keralites who cannot speak Malayalam well by virtue of them being brought up outside Kerala: which does not stop folks with varying degrees of comfort-levels with Malayalam and idea of Kerala coming about the place.

While one would think that such a place is usually like any-other community based on geographic ties would lead to similar roots-finding and pet-grouses of being an Other in a community: Fraud Mallu actually celebrates the fact that there are people who can be called Mallus ;albeit with some stretch of imagination.

The forums threads don’t necessarily (and usually) do not deal with the Mallu way of life: rather they can be really off-beat from the way of life anywhere on earth.

Nishanth is one of the active and oldest members of FM community; he was born in Trissur, Kerala but brought up in U.A.E, an IIT (Madras) graduate. This aerospace engineer is giving his service as a R&D Scientist at an respected organization. Despite with his busy schedule Nishanth still manages to take out 1 or 2 hours daily for fraud mallu community which is now a vital part of Nishanth’s life.

The community Fraud Mallu which was started by Philip and Aju on April 20th 2004 simply for fun has now became a legend in itself and more than just another orkut community. To know Fraud Mallu’s journey till it became the part of orkutheroes.com’s best community showcase, we invited Nishanth for an interview and asked him several questions regarding this fascinating community on orkut.

The very first thing which was asked to Nishanth about this community was the name “Fraud Mallu”, why they chose this name? And did they face any controversies? The answer from Nishanth was: The name was to differentiate between us (FMs) & Pure Mallus (PMs) i.e. Mallus born, bought up & living in Kerala. We have nothing against Real Mallu (PMs), but also we are extremely comfortable with who we are. In fact we are fortunate to be straddling two/multiple cultures. So there is no real desire to “become a real mallu” or to feel accepted in Kerala. About controversies, yes, we have had our share of controversy. Many PMs on Orkut had asked Orkut employees to ban the Fraud Mallu community because they took offense to our comments and views. But good sense prevailed at Orkut.

Mallu stands as slang for any Keralite, but is usually associated with a South Indian. There are two types of mallus: Malabaris located north of Kerala & Malayaless located Central & South of Kerala.

Nishanth says that the logo at Fraud Mallu is inspired from a Getty Image found during a Google search. The blue glasses on the Kathakali artist’s face perfectly resemble some of the eccentricities that FMs have come to possess through our upbringing away from Kerala. We know we have them but still kind of get upset when people point them to us. We shouldn’t and that’s the logic behind the glasses.

The content of Fraud Mallu community forum is a complete entertainment for active participants and also for lurkers like me. Most of the threads on the community forum gets updated in every half an hour, making it one of the most active communities on orkut where around 200 out of 8000 members are comprehensively lively.

Nishanth disclosed the secret of making fraud mallu most active community which lies in no game threads & the freedom members have to comment on intelligent, engaging topics. Any and every topic under the sun is scrutinized, thus catering to various tastes of members in the community. They have threads that have a very Fraud Mallu essence to it, like Zimblyyy Anything, Toddy Shop, Path to Moksha – Guru Vijusayana, How Fraud Are You, Frustration Thread, Listening To, The Movie You Have Last Seen, Discussion On Current Affairs, Miss/Mr. FM & the Meet Threads and many more like Threads with job offers, tech help, help with finding footing in a new city, movie reviews, song reviews, places to visit and places and things to avoid, all are present in this community.

People from India, US, UK, Australia, Singapore & Middle East contribute actively in the forums of Fraud Mallu community.

Not only virtually but Fraud Mallu took another step towards the strengthening of their virtual friendship to real life friends by group meet-ups in real making it to a family. They had dome successful meets in India (Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad), US, Dubai & Sydney.

Check these meet-ups on different locations:

Bangalore:

Chicago :

……………..

……………..

Delhi

……………..

Pune

……………..

Mumbai

……………..

Their regular meets helps them in making the relationship stronger and also have some real fun being out of a virtual community. Nishanth further explains that the meetings happen when FMers in a city decide that their conversations in orkut have turned interesting enough to warrant a face-to-face meeting. Like any other meet-up, they espouse no agenda or set of things to be discussed. People have been known to reach cities apart from where they normally reside to attend the meets; there have been meets held at residences of FMers, at cinema halls, restaurants and other public places.

Not only meetings but there are also few successful love stories in Fraud Mallu which eventually ended up in a happy marriage. Out of some, one such romantic example is of Alex and Feeba who met on Fraud Mallu and started seeing each other and finally the couple got married last year in Kerala.

If you look at the moderating part of this community, there is only one moderator, Philip for more than 8000 members, its may be because the majority of members are friendly, mature and responsible for making Fraud Mallu one of the best, clean and lively online hangout.

Lastly, when asked the future of Fraud Mallu, Nishanth says, I would not know about whether FM will turn into something bigger in the long run, there is a version of it on Facebook though.

No matter where Fraud Mallu will go in the future but this community definitely proves to be a super friendly community on orkut in my opinion. And I thank to Nishanth, Aju and all members of the community Fraud Mallu for their support and contribution in making this possible and bringing up a fantastic example of an online community.
