This is my official reply to all mails/comments/scraps asking me how to get back hacked Gmail/Orkut/Google Account. Everyone should read this no matter how safe you think you are! As Google Account is a single account used across all Googles services like Gmail, Orkut, Blogger, Adsense, Checkout. etc, it can turn out to be our worst nightmare if it gets hacked! Like many other online services Google tries to protect your account with secret question as well as optional secondary email address. But there is one more official option which only Google Provides!

Now lets go step-by-step

1. Trying “Forget Password” Option

I know this will not work in most cases, as options like forget password rely on secondary email address and security question, both of which can be easily changed once a account gets hacked. Still you should try atleast once as most password gets hacked by script kiddies and not by real hackers.

So go to Forget Password form first!

2. What if “Forget Password” Option Fails

You can submit a form to Google in which you can provide details about your Google Account usage.

Details include information which most likely only real owner can provide. Here are few things for example…

Last successful login date
Account creation date
Google products you used with this account and the date you started using each one
Details about Orkut account (if you use Orkut)
Details about Blogger account (if you use Blogger)

Now most important part is what they quoted on the form,
“Please answer each question as thoroughly and accurately as possible. If you’re not certain about some of the information, provide your closest estimate. Whether or not we can return your account depends on the strength and accuracy of your responses.”

So I will suggest following things…
Your goal should be to give Google maximum & accurate data! So take your time and submit form with maximum amount of information possible. You can consult your trusted friends if you are not sure. As an example it could be Sam or Bob who invited you on orkut. If you are not sure call them up and ask it!
Submit only one form! Yes this should be common sense. Do not submit multiple forms. A person who uses around 10-15 Google products asked me if he can submit multiple forms mentioning different Google products. Submit form from the place which you use most often to access your account like PC at home! Although they haven’t mentioned this explicitly, line above submit button says, “Please note that we need your IP address in order to resolve this issue. Your IP address will be captured automatically when you submit this form.”

I advise everyone to have a look at this form and information it asks. You can prepare a document about secret info, may be in cell phone or pen down it on a paper. Google loved Orkut more than Reader and other myths debunked

When Google announced its shutdown of Reader two weeks ago, it led to an outpouring of emotion few could have predicted. Amid the anguish were some healthy conversations about Reader, Google, and RSS, but the process also gave rise to a number of myths and assumptions that deserve a second look.

With companies like Digg declaring they will build an alternative, you have to wonder if Google could have salvaged its goodwill among Reader fans by spinning it off. After all, the company is frugal by its own admission, so an “exit with benefits” would have to be more appealing than an outright shutdown. It wouldn’t be the first time either, as SketchUp was spun off last year. The difference is that SketchUp sold for a lot more than Reader probably would, if rumors of $90 million are to be believed.

Where SketchUp was a desktop app and a recent acquisition, Reader is a relatively old web service, one we can assume is deeply ingrained in Google’s systems. This would include services like login and the fundamental feed crawling that would be difficult to detangle into a standalone, open-source product. Exporting all that data to another company would again open the company up to more legal and privacy risks than it presumably would care to deal with. It’s possible users would have to explicitly agree to the arrangement, which would damage the value of the deal, and it’s also possible Google would be lambasted if it chose the “wrong company” and would be blamed for any subsequent mishandling of Reader.

Instead, Google has provided the alternative of a straightforward data export, meaning users can migrate to other services in a matter of minutes. If the primary reason to sell would be goodwill among users, the data export probably serves that purpose better.

Four-thousand retweets can’t be wrong, right? Surely if Orkut is still alive and kicking, then Google must care more about that nine-year-old social network that never took over the world, but somehow gained a foothold in Brazil. The reality is that Reader was purged as part of an overall “spring cleaning” effort that began a few months after Larry Page took the reins in 2011, promising “more wood behind fewer arrows.” If you think Orkut doesn’t fit into that pithy worldview, you’re probably right, and Google probably does want to shut it down. It’s just a matter of timing and shutting things down in the right sequence, as you can’t just pull the plug on a large product overnight.

Another issue is that Orkut, in particular, is sensitive, as it’s the closest thing in Google’s catalog to Plus. Google’s already closed down other social products – Wave, Jaiku, and Buzz – so there’s still a perception that Plus is “yet another experiment” Google will probably tear down in a year or two. In fact, Plus is different because it’s a social layer on all of Google’s products. Google wants it to be your online identity, used when leaving Play store reviews, YouTube comments, or Spreadsheet edits. But until Plus earns users’ trust, many will continue to anticipate a shutdown and be cautious about embracing it, which may explain why Orkut has outlived Reader and many other defunct products.

As for self-driving cars and magic glasses, they emerged as part of Google’s forward-looking X Lab. Google’s new focus doesn’t rule it out from its tradition of experimenting with new products; it just makes sure that products either evolve or die. Moving sideways is not an option. So while its tempting to lump Google’s more exotic services together, it really makes more sense to think of Google’s portfolio as having three buckets: legacy, experimental, and core.

To many mourning the loss of Reader, RSS symbolises freedom. Anyone with a web server can set up as a publisher and syndicate to readers who care enough to subscribe to the feed. If Google moves to a world of curated news like Currents, there’s a risk that freedom is lost, cutting off the long tail and making it hard for readers to get the news that matters to them. This is a realistic concern and one Google will have to address.

However, it shouldn’t be confused with a conspiracy against all things RSS. Google provided a pretty good product for eight years, but it only enjoyed a luke-warm reception at a time when Facebook and Twitter were growing exponentially. Flipboard, likewise, is on a path towards mainstream adoption, which Reader simply never achieved. So it doesn’t take a lock-in motive to explain the move toward a world of Plus and Currents – just a recognition that while Reader served millions of users admirably, Google is more interested in going after billions.

Google’s move is a double-edged sword for RSS. On the one hand, Reader was such a big part of the ecosystem that it held the standard together in many ways. As long as Reader could parse a feed, the publisher could find an audience. (And even get a reasonable measure of the audience just by tracking audience numbers on Reader.)

However, Reader also choked the field of innovation. It’s hard for niche products to find an audience when the elephant in the room is busy providing a free service. And this was not a service that was actively improving. As Reader’s former manager has famously pointed out, management has been trying to pull engineers away from the project since 2008 and decided to kill it in 2010. Better for third-parties who care about RSS to pick up the reigns.

And pick up the reigns they have. Some 500,000 people migrated to Feedly in the 48 hours after Google’s announcement. Digg’s upcoming implementation are in direct response to this announcement. Sites like ReplaceReader have been busy documenting dozens of Reader alternatives that are gaining traction right now. So we are starting to see companies innovating in a space that might otherwise have dwindled.

“RSS is dead” memes are about as old as RSS itself. The standard remains tenuous. But with Reader out of the way, and under the guardianship of companies that care deeply about its values, the RSS model has the best chance in years to flourish and gain new users.

Telefónica Tuenti launches in Brazil to challenge Facebook and Orkut

Orkut friend rapes girl on city visit

A sales executive was arrested for sexually assaulting a girl in the Capital after befriending her on a social networking site, police said on Tuesday.

Islamudin, 24, who hails from Mewat in Haryana, works in a mobile company as a sales executive. In May last year, he befriended the 22-year-old graduation student on Orkut and exchanged their numbers.

When Islamudin found that the victim was about to visit Delhi to submit her examination forms in May, he insisted on joining her and lured her for sightseeing in Delhi. When she reached Nizamuddin from Mewat, she found Islamudin waiting for her at the bus stop.

She then went to fill up the form and then returned to her hotel room at Nizamuddin. She alleged that Islamudin then offered a drink laced with sedatives, drinking which she fell unconscious, and Islamudin raped her. When she gained consciousness, Islamudin said he was guilty and promised to marry her. Convinced, she went home. She then kept on pleading Islamudin to marry her but he kept on giving excuses, citing his career.

Already married
In December, she found that Islamudin was already married. Furious over bring cheated, she approached Mewat superintendent of police. He referred the case to Sunlight Colony police station on January 5. Delhi Police then went to Mewat and recorded the victim’s statement.

“After conducting raids in three districts, Islamudin was arrested in Mewat on Monday and brought to the Capital,” said police officer. He was produced before the court which sent him to police custody for two days. “We are still interrogating him and verifying the facts,” said the officer.

Man abuses teen, films her
A 30-year-old married man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 19-year-old girl at south Delhi’s Safdarjung Enclave, reports DHNS. Police said the victim claimed that accused Zakir filmed the sexual assault and forced her to marry him in April last year. He was already married to a woman in West Bengal and has three children. She further alleged that Zakir had been blackmailing her with the clippings and threatening her of dire consequences. Police said the accused allegedly forced her into living with him and exploited her since then. The victim approached police after which a case of rape was lodged with Safdarjung Enclave police station on Tuesday and Zakir was arrested.

Orkut complete nine years of life today

The first big success of the social internet in Brazil today completed its nine years of existence. Orkut currently widely used in Brazil and India. Initially it has large user base in United States. Any user having Google account can use their account to use this social website. Due to the high impact of this website in India, it was released in 6 languages.

The maximum number of friends you can have on this website is 1000; if you reach this limit you will not be able to add new friends.

As of March, 2009, 49% of users are from Brazil and 17% are from India. Orkut users can upload photos into their profile. Videos can also be added using YouTube or Google Video. User chat is enabled and is integrated with GTalk. Orkut enables users to change themes to customize how their profile looks to others. Orkut has more than 50% of its users under the age group below 25 years.

Future developments:
As of many Google products, Orkut can go pretty innovative in the future and may change the entire face of present social networking phenomenon.
