What is ADD/ADHD? It depends on whom you ask. The medical industry says it is a physiological condition that responds well to drugs. The physiological community says it is a behavioral disorder that responds well to a combination of medication, counseling, or coaching. The educational system sees it as a disruption in "normal" classrooms and is best "treated" by behavioral engineering, classroom management, or referred to treatment through a medical doctor or psychologist.

We know that in some cases each of these perspectives hold some merit and their solutions may have some benefits. However, attention is a function of cognitive skills. As a result, like other cognitive skills, it is trainable. These skills are more than behavioral traits. They are actual mental abilities. Students can actually become better "attenders" through intense, specific drills that are designed to challenge their attention weakness. By training the brain to push through the symptoms of ADD/ADHD this condition can be reversed with great success.

We have a lot of more information regarding the differing theories behind ADD/ADHD and the physiological and behavioral aspects of this weakness in learning. Our programs are able to improve and even correct these symptoms all together. If you want to learn more call our center today or keep reading our posts to find out more!

Go beyond Tutoring and get the root cause of your student's learning difficulties.

Over 80% of learning problems are due to cognitive skill weakness. If someone has weak cognitive skills no amount of tutoring, medication or trying harder will achieve the results that "brain training "can provide. Unlike school, our program starts with a Cognitive Skills assessment that can pinpoint deficient learning skills. Then we customize a 12– 24 week brain training program to strengthen your deficient skills. Our students average up to a four year improvement. We’ve helped thousands of people of all ages and learning difficulties to achieve their goals.

What are Cognitive Skills?

View your brain as a muscle. Muscles have different fibers and components that make up the strength and elasticity of that muscle. If you work out your muscles regularly at the gym for instance, your muscles will be stronger, faster, and will help you achieve the goals you are trying to reach. The cognitive skills in your brain are those very fibers that determine whether or not your brain power is at it's full potential to obtain and utilize the information coming in.

There are 7 key cognitive skills that build up your brain's ability to learn. They are: Attention, Memory, Logic & Reasoning, Visual Processing, Word Attack, Processing Speed, Auditory Processing.

If any one of these "fibers" are weak or damaged your muscle can not preform successfully. You need to then work out that muscle daily to strengthen it to it's full potential.

We use brain games, and intensive learning activities to work the brain in ways it has never worked before. We train it to correct those weak areas and fix them for good. Brain Training is a "new wave" form of thinking and learning and it works wonders.

Many people wait until they are in an accident, but there are many reasons to go to a chiropractic physician. All types of conditions are treated with chiropractic care, such as colds or ear infections, PMS, spinal or disc problems, arthritis, insomnia, stress, vision problems, headaches, allergies, bedwetting, colic, high blood pressure-the list is long! And yet, please remember, the goal of chiropractic treatment is not the treatment of disease but rather the enhancement of health through the reduction of spinal nerve stress (vertebral subluxation complex).

Most textbooks list over two hundred diseases. Please be mindful that chiropractic care is not like one drug used for one condition, but on the contrary, it is a complete healing art within itself, concerned with the systems of the body such as nervous, circulatory, digestive, respiratory, eliminatory, reproductive, hormonal, musculoskeletal, etc., and seeks to correct health problems within those systems.

Many women and men wonder if saliva or blood testing to check your hormones is best. Blood testing is a very accurate way to test all kinds of things like blood sugar and liver function but when it comes to testing hormones, there is a technical problem.Understanding what the blood hormone test tells us will make the differense between a sucessful treatment, and an unsucessful treatment.

Blood hormone testing combines the active and inactive form of the hormone in the one number given as the test result. We need to know what the level fo the active hormone by itself is, to understand the true situation. Saliva testing is the best way to get the pure amount of active hormone measured. It is also important to know aht level of hormones are in the tissures. These are 2 great reasons why treating your hormone imbalance is best when saliva testing is used.

For more information on hormone testing go to www.winterparkchiropractic.com, call (407) 622-2251×2. Winter Park Chiropractic & Acupuncture Center is located at 606 N Wymore Rd Winter Park FL 32789. Dr. Anthony V.

“Manipulation Under Anesthesia” is assisted with anesthesia which helps those patients who would usually be in extreme and intolerable pain to be unconscious which then shuts off the muscle spasm cycle to allow spinal movement for effective manipulation (adjustment), sedates the pain perceiving nerves that have been irritated, and allows complete muscle relation to allow the doctor to stretch shortened muscle groups and to reduce or eliminate adhesions formed from scar tissue. MUA is NOT an invasive surgery, it is simply spinal manipulation and mobilization performed with anesthesia in a more operating room type setting. The actual manipulation and adjustments are very gentle with little muscle tension resistance. The anesthesiologist administers a small amount of anesthesia. After the patient has fallen asleep the muscles and joints in dysfunctional spinal areas are stretched and manipulated. A series of MUA has been shown to be much more effective than traditional, conservative manipulation (adjustments) for patients with severe spinal conditions.

Manipulation Under Anesthesia can be amazing for those who have certain spinal conditions that respond insufficiently to conventional adjustment give by chiropractic doctors. While most conservative care performed in a chiropractic office is usually effective in most musculo-skeletal spinal conditions, some patients have spinal problems that won’t allow the doctor to effectively manipulate (adjust the joins of the spine. Some of the conditions of the spine that make it difficult are; build-up scar tissue both in and around the spinal joints (commonly caused by multiple injuries or failed back surgery), chronic musccle spasm, super-sensitivity of injured areas making the patient unable to relax and cooperate for effective treatment, or persistent shortening of muscles, ligaments, and tendons due to previous immobilization, as well as some disc injuries.

Filardo is only one of 8 chiropractic physicians in Central Florida who are certified and trained in this procedure! For more information call (407) 622-2251×2, or go to www.winterparkchiropractic.com. Winter Park Chiropractic is located at 610 N.
