This is a repost, I pulled the video the other day after hearing about Jack. I also got the encoding settings wrong before, so the video would have been a little slower to load than it should have been.

Today, I had a few hours to kill while Audrey, my faithful Audi, had her MOT (annual test) done and brake fluid changed. This meant not going to sleep. I could have, but I can never go to sleep under pressure.

After dropping off the car, I decided to pass the waiting time by eating, drinking coffee and shooting photos in and around Swansea’s Marina, but I also took the iRiver and poured my heart out for 25 minutes.

By the end, I felt a lot better, but I decided not to post that whole thing here, or anywhere, ever. Instead, you can just have the bits I don’t mind sharing, 2 or 3 seconds at a time in a kind of crazy megamix.

Anyway, check out this “tribute” Tango drink advert, shot in yours truly’s hometown of Swansea, with real fruit.

These streets are usually packed with parked cars, so it’s obvious they had to clear them for this and it made quite a mess, apparently.

It is a bit long, sorry, but I spent hours editing it. Blame the cab driver.

Also, sorry about the sound quality from the iRiver / external mic at times, any sort of noise and the levels are bouncing off the red. Afterwards I found a setting to lower the line-in input level for the external mic, which might make future recordings better.

I’d finished working and jumped in the car for a spin around my personal racetrack (the Gower peninsula, it’s mine I tell you) but detoured to Rhossili to catch the longest sunset of the year. I’ve also posted photos of the sun going down that day.

Rhossili is probably my favourite place on the planet and it’s saved my life so many times. It’s this large bay with tall cliffs running down to Worm’s Head. Even on a busy day you can go down there, get your own space and de-stress.

The clocks change tonight so we’ll be in British Summertime, although it doesn’t look much like summer out there. That’s why I went hunting for these photos.

Note: The audio seems a bit “clicky” until the whole thing has loaded, don’t know why.

I was there from the middle of May until the end of September 2005. It was so cramped. I just about managed to squeeze two rooms’ worth of stuff into one, but never really unpacked anything that wasn’t essential.

Soon after, I realised that I could fit my PowerBook on that very deep windowsill (with Shaun the sheep) and do my support work from there - while blowing smoke out the window. My friend Claire told me that working while standing can be good because it makes you feel like you have control over the situation. I still do most of my support work standing up (and smoking), because I’ve also found it makes me do it quicker.

You also see that Beth had commandeered my chair. It’s often the case that the only place she wants to sit is the very place I need to be. And she wins every single time.
